Did anyone keep an eye out for the Perseides last night?

The peak was at 5:00 UT (Universal Time) with an average of 90 shooting stars an hour scheduled. Unfortunately that was 7 AM over here and it's already too bright by then.
You people in the US were quite lucky with the peak coinciding with about midnight local time (don't know which of the time zones though).

Last night my father and I spent it on a mountain a half an hour away from here with a group of other astrophiles from our local planetary (my father being one of them, he brought his 8 inch Meade telescope) and an event was organized where 5 telescopes were available for the public to observe other celestial bodies.
There really was a big crowd of people! My father told me a lot of ads were made and even appeared in the local TV channel!

So, in total I counted 35 shooting stars, but I know I missed a bunch of others, too.
My father was busy handling the telescope for most of the time, so he ended up seeing less. Still, 29 is quite a number.
We stayed up until 2 AM and were the last people to leave. ^^;

Did any of you see the shooting stars? They will continue to fall throughout the week, but the peak was on the 12th.
If you missed them though, you can try again on November 17th, when the Leonides will have their peak (these were the Perseides) or try again next year.

we had a thunderstorm last night, so the sky was pretty cloudy. ^x;

Bah! I wanted to see that... and I guess my only excuse is that I forgot... But as long as the weather agrees with me, I'll keep looking tonight. YAY FOR METEORS!

I went outside on my deck pretty late, so I didn't see anything. I can barely see the stars due to light pollution from NYC. =/

I went for a walk about 1am last night, and noticed a lot of shooting stars, I didn't realise it was some big event, so I was suprised to see so many.

It was cool though.

Yeah, the light pollution sucks here in the Twin Cities as well =... Although 5 or so years ago we saw the Northern Lights here... Damn they were bright

Where all could you see it, and how long does it last? I know that my location makes it hard to see any meteor showers.

I only saw one, but it's the only one I've seen in my life and it was a one in a million chance that the star I was looking at at the time that a shooting star went past, this was around midnight, english time, and I was only out for a walk to cool down.

Darn, I missed it. I heard something about it last night as I was heading out for work. It was bad timing, we were short handed and I wasn't lucky enough to see it. Ah, maybe someother time.

I don't think I saw (or heard of it) because of the fact I'm in the southern hemisphere :(
