this thing called personal antivirus downloaded itself onto my laptop right? (using desktop now) and long story short, there's currently nobody available to help me out. i figure i'd come here because (quite frankly) i trust you guys alot more than some google spyware removal that costs $30. from what i understand the thing is a scam to get you to buy a spyware remover, but it's actually a rogue anti-spyware program. any advice on how to get rid of it?
i actually finally figured it out. thanks so much for replying though it means alot.
Antivirus 2009, Antispyware 2009, payload of Conficker, this sucker has a million names and variants. The Richard Kuta of malware it is... the more you beat it the more persisant it becomes. Fortunately you got a meeker strain and an over the counter anti-spyware could kill it.
You should still run hijack this and check your registry and program files for any rogue entries. Some variants of this thing are downright energumenical.
