Me and my friend have been arguing about this.
I say Flash, he says Sonic.
I know this is a Sonic forum so the poll will probably be
one sided, but I had to ask.

Technically, given that the source of Flash's power is the Speed Force, the laws of physics apply less and less the more he taps into it.
Therefore, the speed of light is NOT an upper bound for the speed of the Flash.
According to the GHZ, Sonic can run at up to Mach 5.

God, that is one of the most inane arguments anyone could EVER participate in. XD It's like a nerd detector: if you've ever argued about who would win in a fight, Batman or Superman, BAM! - Nerd.
But hell, I doubt many people on this forum would object to that classification.

Sonic isn't good enough at that to be able to, as an example, circle the globe seven times in a second. The Flash on the other hand, as noted, can run as fast as or perhaps faster than the speed of light. Which technically means if he wanted to the Flash could probably time travel just by moving fast enough, which would mean if he wanted to he could beat Sonic's Chaos Controlling by just time travelling. Just because he can run fast enough to do so. 
Various speedsters (those who could access the Speed Force, that is) have time-traveled.

as for sonic and flash, i'd choose sonic. maybe sonic is faster then you think, its just the planet he's on has heavier gravity for all we know.
The planet Sonic is on is Earth, so no it isn't heavier. Also, it's been established that Flash is FASTER than Superman. If he's faster than Superman, he's faster than Sonic.

Sonic is from the planet Mobius.
Well, Sonic can induce Chaos Control. Chaos Control can freeze time. Therefore, Sonic can easily outrun the Flash, because HE CAN'T DO S___ BECAUSE HE'S FROZEN IN TIME.
But seriously though...
For all your lightgun shooting needs and some other insanity too.

I said Flash also, just my friend, Tom is convinced otherwise.
Flash should feel completely incompetent about said powers since one of his closest rivals would be a 3 foot tall hedgehog and a mouse.

Pfffffft, it was said in the very first reply by Bryan. Sonic can only break the sound barrier. The Flash can hit the speed of light.

For Superman, it depends on which era you're referring to, as his powers can differ (Golden Age, Silver Age, Modern Age, etc.).
However, there are multiple Flashes (Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, Wally West, Bart Allen, and so on). The Allens and Wally all generally have the same powers, and are who most people think of when they think 'Flash'.
So...the flash is virtually massless?

EDIT: Also, that Wiki link has every character who can just plan old move faster than normal. I doubt Edward Cullen could keep up with any of the previously mentioned characters.
