EDIT: May be inaccurate, try these instead:

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWt0XUocViE 4:00 [*] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JP_3WnJ42kw 10:24 [*] http://www.savetheinternet.com [*]
  • And of course, do your own research if this topic is important to you.
  • (and other sites, do some research)

I would think this is relevant to most people here, given the main site right over there - regardless if its updated recently or not, at least it's there. I didn't see a topic about this here, just thought I'd post and spark a little discussion on it, and of course let people know what's coming right around the corner.

Let me nutshell this, as it pertains to us here: if this goes through, Sonic HQ is gone. If you visit a site that's not owned by Google, Yahoo!, whatever, would probably be gone, too. This proposition, if passed, would destroy the lawless, ham-radio expanses of the Internet in favor of a structured, corporate, owned model that would crush us little guys, sitting around digital campfires in the wilderness and only be able to go where conglomerates allow, at the prices they demand. And now we have a temporal deadline: 2012. If this resonates with any of you, join me in spreading the word and maybe we can turn this Titanic around before the iceberg hits.

EDIT: mentally discovered all of my good metaphors right after I posted.

The world ends in 2012 anyway, so I'm not too worried.

This is clearly WHY the world ends.

The Patriots have finally launched GW and are going to censor the interwebs. Google! HOW COULD YOU?!?!?

*Harbors absoloutely no belief in this stupid idea and thinks it would be impossible to even attempt*

In ukland there has been hatred and much frowning with virgin media (used to be ntl/telewest) with their caps on internets during certain hours of the day as lead to up to a million people moving to other broadbands/isps since most areas can have a dozen or more companies offering their services. However in usland competition is limited in that some areas only have a single operator of higher speed internets which is quite D: At least if the world ends in 2012 we won't need to pay for the london games on our council tax bills

Okay, so the guys at Digg, where I found the OP video, made it known that the video might be a crock, but I want to keep this topic alive, so here are some other relevant videos:
