So, since it's the summer, for the past few days I've been staying up almost every night, then falling asleep around 7 am or so and waking up at 1 pm. Now, I know there are a good amount of insomniacs here (I mean, where aren't there insomniacs), and I just wanted to know what's the longest you guys have gone without a wink of sleep, and if you had any method to staying awake.
As for me, the longest has been around 36 hours, and that was during school =( I don't even remember why I deprived myself then.

Last year in college, the little "gang" on our door floor decided to party in the hallway while the RA was gone. I was forced up through the entire night and had classes al day the next day. All in all I think I was up for a straight 27 hours. I dropped after it was all done.

I think the longest time I've stayed awake is about 23 hours. During holidays I have a habit of going to sleep about 3-4am and getting up at midday.

i once stayed awake over 74 hours, perhaps a lot longer as the sleeping pills took some time to kick in. but the insomnia was a side-effect of something else, so it wasn't deliberate.. ^^;

deliberately staying awake? neeh, way over 24 hours before flopping and sleeping for a few hours.. oo i'd gotten fed up with the timeszones making me usually go to bed just as everyone gets online and spent all night and morning chatting to people.

these days at home i relish being able to go to bed early (before midnight!) and getting a full 8 hours sleep. bliss. ^.^

I've never counted but it's been more than 24 hours before. I used to be a real insomniac but now I have control over how long I stay up. But this does not mean that I choose to sleep.

Don't forget, we have an official Insomnia thread here if you're up late and feel like letting us know that, hey, I'm up late!

As for me, these days I'll either crash and burn around midnight or conk out at around 9-ish. The days of staying up late watching Adult Swim (and before that came to be, MST3K on Comedy Central) have come and gone...

Somewhere between 36-48 hours. 36 I did a few times, but past that I start hearing things.

Yeah, that thing you're hearing? The Reaper.

Never force yourself to stay awake longer than 3 days. Your body can literally shut down from lack of sleep.

Can't remember my official time, but I know I've clocked over 32 hours of being awake.

But funnily enough, I find it harder to sleep when I've been drinking.

I remember last time I kept track of the time I spent awake it came to a full 24 hours. After which I went to bed and slept for I think what was about 10 hours. Felt wonderfully refreshed afterwards! ^_^ Not that I recommend that method to anyone who's feeling really worn out >>

I remember staying up a full 24 hours. I slept a full 24 hours after that as well. I also messed up my sleeping time by staying awake a lot, meaning I sleep during the day and I am awake during the night.

I can't sleep well during the Summer either...I usually stay up playing games, reading or watching some of my DVD's & when that bores me...I usually make up stories in my head...& curse the fact that I can't make fan comics out of them do to my poor, drawing skills,,,wich most likely stem from my short attention span & own self doubts..but meh...I digrese...I'm just glad i get to go back to school soon! Only 2 days of summer left for me....Wait....THAT SUX!!!!

As of typing this, it's Monday evening. I haven't slept since Saturday night. I woke up at ten on Sunday morning (incidentally, I had insomnia half htat night, too) and I've been up ever since - I intend to hit he sack at eleven or so tonight, so that's just over 36 hours.

My longest was around 48 hours. I vaguely remember passing out.

Sometimes, at night, I just...don't sleep. It's kind of odd. I even feel tired (though I'm usually okay the next day, like today), I just...never drift off. Sometimes, I just lie there awake, and other times, I'll crack open a good book (I finished Mark Bowden's Black Hawk Down - my fourth read of it - last night) or play my PSP. I have insomnia problems...

I've stayed up for 4 days and nights straight before so that I could meet my deadline. Does that count?
