Play as Mega Man, Samus, Bill of Contra, Link, Simon...and Mario.
In the original Super Mario Bros. All of it.
PLAY IT AND BE AMAZED.
So cool! I quite enjoy playing as Link.
Wow, I wasn't expecting more than cosmetic replacements, but this guy went all the way! Playing as Bill is amazing, especially with fire flower. Oh hi, Lakitu, TASTE MY SPREAD FIRE. Poor Simon, though. He's just useless. XD
this is so cool its like a fantasy come true! i played bill too, he's always been a favorite character. too bad with all the iconic characters there wasnt sonic there, still fun though.
They were all iconic NES characters, though. Sonic would have been out of place.
How did Castlevania ever become a franchise? Simon controls like ass.
This works surprisingly well with Mega Man and Link.
Mega Man is my fave to play as, if nothing else, because of the music. The lack of run makes the game far more difficult than it should be. Also, I love his descendants so dang much, but Simon is a loser and deserves no love.
Now if they put NINJA RICHTER BELMONT---... alas he's not NES.

ah okay... they did look choppy so that makes sense.
as for simon i actually didnt know who he was, and yeah i wish they'd picked richard just listen to that legendary theme song

i love that song so much, the bloodline bequedth was used in the N64 castlevania opening too.

Well, you'll be getting a ninja soon.
Well, that looks fun.
I suddenly care about this now.

It's a mystery.
I've got a query of my own. Why the Zelda I Link and not Zelda II? Seems an odd choice, considering the upward and downward stab originated with that game, and it was already a side-scroller to begin with!
Ryu boy there looks like the Ninja Gaiden III Ryu. Floaty jump physics and the ability to wall-jump up the same wall at the ridge is NGIII-centric. Also his Strider-esque sword power-up. *nods sagely*

"Originally, I had both the Zelda 1 and Zelda 2 sprites in the game. Link would start out small, just like he does now, but when you got a mushroom, he’d grow into the Zelda 2 version. However, I just found that Link so much more fun to control when he was little. In the bigger version, you have to crouch to hit Goombas and throwing the boomerang in all eight directions is more awkward. When I was playing as Link, I would actually avoid getting the mushroom because I wanted to stay small, so I just decided to take big Link out of the game. Also, I think Link’s sprites in Zelda 2 were a bit on the ugly side, and they didn’t fit so well with the Mushroom Kingdom."
BUT BILL DOES, RITE?
Lame.
