I know.....It angers me as well. I mean its Like CN doesn't want any anime in their network..Hoe odd....*& here I thought it was called Cartoon network....Oh well, On the Bright Side we still have all the wonderfiul canadian made flash animations & CN origionals......NOT, I mean Seriusly if it weren't for shows like TFA & Star wars: Clone wars....Im pretty Sure CN would be dead by now....THey Just Need to learn, The only Way to Keep up good ratings is to give U.S. ol 90's toons fans Either Action or Anime....Cause half the crud they have now ain't gonna cut it! & thanks for the Seal of Approveal Toby...I think.

Holy crap. I sware, for about half a second I thought it was gonna be a post about Funimation or Viz tanking. XD

I clicked on the title of this thread thinking what could possibly be going on here, and I'm pretty disappointed. On the bright side, it's a good thing I'm not watching the Bleach dub. Or a PPGZ dub for that matter (which I don't think will be seeing any light here in the US). Just look it up on youtube. The English dialogue is quite horrid.

Lack of Naruto: Shipuuden would make me cry, but I guess I've been cool with keeping up with the Dattebayo subs. Unfortunately, that now means I should probably start downloading the hell out of the torrents as opposed to just catching a stream every Sunday.

Honestly, a lot of anime does suck lately, and I know that there's two reasons to this problem:

1. CN isn't hosting the right shows.
2. CN isn't showing the shows at the best time slots. AT ALL.
3. When CN carries the right stuff, FANS DO NOT SUPPORT.

That last part is vital. If the ratings aren't there, why the hell should CN care?

I also blame the stupid fillers of Naruto this year. That's ALL it's been this year, and what used to be one of their big shows, is now tanking because of said fillers. They should have forced-ended that sorry filler arc and gone straight into running Shippuuden. Seriously.

The time slot thing, I think, is also major. A lot of us who grew up through high school with anime on Toonami and early Adult Swim caught the shows because the time slots were there for us, and the Adult Swim anime was on fairly earlier, as opposed to the crazy 1am/2am time slots. I don't know about many other of you, but I'm a working man, now. I can't afford to stay up that late anymore to catch a show. Not to mention that if that pushes me away from watching your channel, (which TV in general I have not watched), I probably don't even know what show you have and when you're running my shows of interest, I won't even bother trying to Tivo a season pass because I don't even know it exists on your programming.

I think working on both of those will keep anime on CN. Then again, with all this new richness of "BEN 10" and other crappy type shows being pooped out by their in-house studios, newcomer viewers are possibly getting won over by them and staying clear of anime.

Either way, right now, torrents and DVDs are your friends.

This is VERY vital. Anime fans always rip on ANY dub of their favorite anime (I do it too, it's a natural thing anime fan's do), but nothing is perfect. If you don't watch, then you don't support and if you don't support then it won't succeed.

Hell, it doesn't matter if they used the original opening and ending songs, or if it is subs (Why would anyone would want to watch ANY show with small text that is present for about two seconds is beyond me), people will still wont watch because there shallow elitist jerks.

I seriously doubt they're going to stop showing Anime altogether. I mean it.

When Cartoon Network didn't go around doing everything they could (including punching babies in the throat if need be) to license Black Lagoon or Monster, I knew they'd given up on trying with anime. They kept going for the stuff that had big fansub fanbases but wouldn't appeal to the average viewer.

3. See above: fansub fans don't watch CN anime. They already have the files on their computer. They've already seen the show. The only hope for televised anime is to get something new, fresh, quick to hook viewers (ie. Black Lagoon, Monster, Gurren Lagann and Baccano!) and NOT the shonen-title of the week. All three titles would've had wide appeal to Western audiences and anime-newbies or skeptics, but nooooo they get Code Geass (really?! Seriously?!) instead.

In short: CN lost because they thought the goal was to bring in the show's existing fans. The REAL goal should always be to bring in NEW fans.
