Ah yeeeeeeeah. I've been waiting for this show ever since it was in production at the start of summer. I can't believe it's almost here!

YES. YES.

GOD YES I KNEW WHAT YOU WERE SAYING BEFORE EVEN CLICKING THE LINK. The comic is fan-bloody-tastic and I have high hopes this will be too. Unfortunately the UK doesn't get it until 5th of November but it's a mercifully short wait compared to many other US television series.

Either of you been keeping up with the comic much?

Bad Ultra. Support the hard working creators by actually paying for their work, please. >=(

I've got Compendium Vol. 1 (which chronicles paperback volumes 1-8 ), but the six-issue paperbacks come out with greater frequency, so I read those, then buy the big collection in bulk.

I don't even know what this is, so I wiki'd The Dead Shall Walk.

Suddenly, SPOILERS OUT THE YING-YANG.

... so, uh... how close will the TV series be following the book?

The TV series won't be exact, events that happen in the book will happen in the show they just won't happen the way we expect them to. Plus there's a couple new characters thrown into the story and in interviews they've made it very clear that not all the characters will die at the same time they do in the book.

As for me reading the comics, HELL YES. I buy the trades whenever I see them and I love the series to bits (pun completely intended.)

Iirc, the first season of the Walking Dead show will cover the first volume. Which seems hellishly slow even with a lot of filler and new scenes added. Here's hoping that later seasons adapt with a quicker pace, because it'd be awesome to see the end of Volume 8 on television and hear the many reactions of people after watching it. =D

That was GREAT.

I'm in for the long haul on this one.  Between The Walking Dead, Mad Men and Breaking Bad (which is the best show on TV full stop), AMC is the new king of dramatic television.

Terrific episode! The last half hour made the entire thing worth it! Don't even get me started on the zoom out at the end, just terrific!

Well, we have some good news! The Walking Dead has been renewed for a second season of 13 episodes.

*is enjoying the divergences from the graphic novel so far*

*cackled at Glenn driving off in the hotrod*

Well, it's been long enough to merit a second post, given the new episodes.

The ending of this latest episode is the first major divergence from the plot of the graphic novels, so I can't wait to find out what happens next.

I have to admit I've been absolutely dissapointed by this series. The discrepancies from the graphic novel series has made it incredibly difficult to watch or care about, and the actual directing of the series as a whole has been pretty lacklustre so far. Some may argue that it shouldn't have to follow the graphic novel series exactly, but for me it's like watching fillers in anime; with poorer story segments inbetween the actual meat and content of the story. And what I don't understand is the need for it; the Walking Dead has plenty of content, and 5 episodes we've had only what, 4 or 5 actual issues covered?

The quality of the original scenes and divergences can't compare to the actual story presented by the graphic novel series. I don't care about any of the new characters that they've introduced and find them all incredibly dull and obvious cannon fodder (have they even been given names?). I hate what they've done to what was my second favourite character of the series; Carol, they completely changed her appearance and personality to be some typical wife victim. Where are Allen, Donna, and their two kids? Why did they bother to change any of these things and risk making the series worse (which is what was achieved)?

And the last episode in particular? It covered what, 5-6 PAGES? Not to mention that in generalness it was completely boring and the next episode looks terrible.

I don't get it. I really don't. The content was perfect as it was before. Why go change it and completely ruin it whilst they were at it?

In more positive news the latest volume, 13, was awesome. Nuff said.

'The Walking Dead' is my zombie '24'. There's some silliness, some overwrought-ness and some sloppy dialog, but when it kicked ass, it did it in style. I was hoping for better, but 'Terriers' brand of greatness has effectively ruined me for the dialog and characters of other dramas this season so my expectations might've been too high.

Bring on season 2.

PS:  I'm glad they're diverging from the graphic novel.  First, because now I don't know what's coming.  Secondly, because the graphic novel has too many not-terribly-good patches that I'd rather not see on TV.

I enjoyed most of this season and about two-thirds of that last episode but the end was just too cheesy for me. Also I know what you mean "Terriers" has kicked every new shows ass this year, so much so that they had to put it down so other shows could thrive (note, that is a joke Terriers was cancelled because of ratings.)
