There's a thing at my school called the impersonation assembly, in which you pick an artist or group and impersonate them.

Knowing this, I decided to form a group and perform GHIII's The Devil Went Down to Georgia, while impersonating characters from the game. (Note: Guns And Roses' Slash) This is a video from our first session playing the song together as a group.

A note about the video: We filmed two runthroughs. The first was the front shot that includes everybody playing, but the audio from that was crap. We found that the best place to put the camcorder was on a ledge outside the room, which is why you see a pretty bad angle most of the time. I still tried to throw in the good footage where it fit, so it wasn't as boring visually.

We messed up in a few spots, but considering this is the first time our entire group met up to play, I think we did well enough.

I hope you enjoy, I think this would be the first live performance of this version of the song that's ever been attempted, apart from Steve Ouimette himself, and certainly the first one on Youtube.

I'm really not sure if this would go here or SPA, so if it's the latter, feel free to move it. But I feel it deserves at least a bit more recognition than a link thrown in the SPA. One watch will tell you that. These are seniors from my old high school. The vocalist is my brother. I personally feel it is awesome. 😀

Wow, the person I've been watching to learn how to play The Devil Went Down to Georgia plays live with vocals provided by your brother.

Small. World.

Also, awesome.

Wow, that rocked hard. They messed up a few parts, but that's negligable--the song takes quite a lot of skill to play in the first place (yes, I'm talking the real instrument here), and your brother did an excellent impersonation of the singer. Also, the Slash outfit was excellent.

I wish my school had stuff like that.
