The original cast of Mystery Science Theater 3000, back again?
YES PLEASE
I'm glad to see Joel and co. back in the arena, but to be honest, I always preferred the team of Nelson-Murphy-Beaulieu, and then the later addition of Nelson-Murphy-Corbett that's also been working out so well at Rifftrax.
On top of that, the CT folks should really consider the Rifftrax business model of digital downloads. One of my favorite things about Rifftrax is I can just go out, rent a movie, and download the riff (or with the older public domain movies, you can download the whole thing).
I don't know if I'd want to pay that much money to buy a DVD that would take a week to get to my house and features comedians who are far from my favorites. I don't mean to bash Joel and the original crew, they definitely deserve full credit for inventing the concept to begin with. I just feel like Nelson and Co. are funnier and have a more convenient business model.
Don't they (or Best Brains, or whoever) own the copyright on MST3K?
Why not just call it that instead of a less cool cinematic titanic? Is there some kind of rift in the cast?
Actually, there is a third offshot of MST3k that does a web-animated series using the robot characters, but none of the original voices (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mys...eries%29). My understanding is what's left of Best Brains runs that, and that it is heavily involved with Jim Mallon. I know Joel had a big split with him, which is now believed to be the main reason for leaving the show.
Ah yes...
I'm a normal member with both CT and Rifftrax forums.. quiet a fun lot there
Also highly recomended for dilm lovers and MST3K fans =)
