I was on Hulu the other day preparing to catch up on House, when to my surprise I found they had posted some episodes of MST3k (Mystery Science Theater 3000 for those that don't know.) I want to get some other people's opinions on the show.

Also, for those who don't know what the show is, it's basically about a janitor who get's put on a satellite by his "mad scientist" bosses and is forced to watch every bad movie they can find so they can see which one will drive a person insane. To, keep from going insane, the man, Joel, creates robot companions to help him make fun of said bad movies. The show is pretty much them silhouetted behind the movie and them making fun of it.

I love MST3K. Favorite episodes are Manos, Cavedwellers, Hobgoblins and of course PRINCE OF SPACE.

Prince of Space is by far my favorite

Also, I prefer Michael Nelson over Joel and adore his website, Rifftrax, which provides audio commentaries for mainstream movies.

And now to search Hulu for these episodes...

I just recently got into the show, but Space Mutiny has to be my favorite, just for the different names they kept giving the main character. "Punch Rockgroin, Big McLargehuge, Stub Beefbroth."

Space Mutiny is amazing purely for the disco scene, with the gratituous grinding motions, then the officer being killed in one scene and then returning in the next with the guys making girly voices saying "Thanks for letting me have a second chance!"

MST3k FTW. ^^ Another fave of mine is the Messed Up Zombies (or whatever it's actual laughably long name is). The sight gag of (Joel?) grabbing the crystal ball gets me every time. Rifftrax is also epic, particularly, Twilight. They sink their claws in from the start and never stop ripping it to shreds until it's over. XD

There's a whole bunch of them up on Netflix's Instant Queue as well.

Every Thanksgiving, I still get nostalgic for the Turkey Day Marathon. Even though it's been almost 15 years since the last one ran, I still vividly remember buying a whole bunch of blank VHS tapes, hitting Record and switching out tapes every 4 hours.

Good times.

I don't think we UK'ers get Hulu And I have entirely fallen from buying the boxsets. I think I have the first 8 Rhino, plus individual releases of Manos / Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, The Wild Wild World of Batwoman and somewhere on Rhino video I have Red Zone Cuba. Shout Factory has done several more, but the exchange rate munches at the moment.

No we don't. That's why I had to Youtube Doctor Horrible.

I've heard rumours that it might be looking into UK distribution, but since it's becoming a pay site next year, I'm not sure how many people'll be interested.

Hulu also has 'Spaced'. I'm going to be very VERY blunt right now: YOU NEED TO WATCH 'SPACED'

Please Troy, I watched Spaced before they even put it on Hulu. Terrific show, I still hold out hope that they'll do a 3rd series someday.

Me too. In fact, I own it. TWICE (Region 2 and Region 1 DVDs).

I'm just concerned that, in the world today, there exist people who have not seen Spaced, and to me that's like the greatest tragedy in the history of overly-hyperbolic statements.

Yes, it is a great tragedy, indeed.
