Is it a relaxing holiday on some exotic beach, or a mountain trek? Day trip at the nearest beach or road trip? Money is no object, nor is time.
Me? I was talking with Wes yesterday and we thought of a road trip through Europe. I'd love to go and sample some belgian chocolate, some true italian food, some spanish sun, some french breakfast. Yes I seem to be thinking mostly about food but you know. Europe would be amazing. Have a couple of months off work. Go see Paris, the Nurburgring in Germany, Amsterdam, Rome. That sort of thing. Go where we want when we want.
What about you guys?
A pile of books, a daiquiri or sangria or two and a hot patch of sunlight to sit in. Madrid, for example. Then a trip to the nearest theme park with water rides. Let the holiday *not* include anything remotely cultural, unless maybe it's a visit to a castle or something. Let it also not include anything remotely active and (apart from the theme parks) let there be no children in sight.
If money is no object, then the patch of sunlight could be in Florida, Arizona or California. I'm not picky. And maybe I could rent a 1982 TransAm while I was at it, plug in my MP3 player through the tape deck and drive along the freeway with the T-tops off, listening to my 80s playlist.
Of course, in the real world, it would be a weekend with a friend in Leicester, Leeds, Nottingham or north Wales. The last holiday I took was a couple of days in a youth hostel in Whitby, before that it was a long weekend in Centre Parcs in Cumbria. The last proper holiday I took was probably with my parents, somewhere around 1996. Florida Tower of Terror ftw.
