Gosh darn, I haven't watched Tenchi in years, I remember using my 56k to try and get all the episodes of In Tokyo when that wasn't airing fast enough on cartoon network.
Surprisingly good show, given that it's a glorified rip off of Ah! My Goddess with some more action elements in it.

But if your refering soley to Tenchi in tokyo, then yeah i guess you would be right, The intro i posted was for tenchi Universe, the 2nd Tenchi Series, Tokyo was the third, the 4th was GXP & the 5th was Ryo-ohki, 1 4 & 5 are all in the same continuity but 2 & 3 are stand alone.

Sorry Legion, but I'm afraid I cannot allow you to belittle Mr. Fujishima's masterpiece. Ah! My Goddess began in 1988 a year after the shortlived "You're Under Arrest!" started.
AMG happens to be the longest running ongoing manga which is still being published in the US. May it never stop, for I love it so.
Anywho, Tenchi Muyo! was 1992, 4 years later. The Oh My Goddess OVA came out afterwards, but the OVA barely counts as it was 5 episodes and only loosely adapted anything. The major difference between the two is that Tenchi was an anime which brought about a manga spin-off, AMG is a manga which has a couple anime adaptions.
*Grumbles about wanting another anime adaption--- or season 3. Fighting Wings was awesome, but I want MOAR*
OK what ever, but tenchi is in know ways a AMG rip-off, I mean its more of a Star-wars rip off then anything else. (DOY!) Light swords space ships, weird semi-incestual Royal Family in the ist OVA sereies! (Yea the 1st show has a bunch of SW parodys)
Then the second Series Tenchi TV (Univerese) is basically a PG retelling of the story, basically less nudity, cut out ayeka & tenchi being related, Give Mihioshi a short-tempered partner who at the same time is her best friend in the form om Kiyone & make ryoko slightly less perverted & well sasami was pretty much the same.
Tenchi In tokyo was basically one of those shows that had a Great concept but was executed poorly (Yugi's story was so sad!)
But yea its hardly an Ahh my goddess rip-off & AMG Is hardly a masterpiece, yeah its a great series but TENCHI is the TRUE MASTERPIECE!
But in the end its just us having differing openions, so its a moot point.....TACOS RULE!

I have most of the series on VHS boxed up in my closet somewhere (as well as Evangelion and all three Slayers TV series), but our household hasn't had a working VHS player for ages. Because I like to torture people, And in all honesty, the intros are pretty fun to listen too. Plus it was the Editing that killed 4kids version of one peice more then the dub...and shemen king wasn't that bad, but yea, they tottaly butchered the F-zero anime and the magical girl titles they got. I mean the Dic Dub of Sailor moon is like 50X better then 4kids mew mew, and thats jsut sad, Ultimate muscle was a comedy anywho, so it doesn't bother me. but yea, 4kids made alot of intros...so there up there.
There's also a lot of the unexpected 4kids Not!fail there too, like the epic Yu!Gi!Oh! opening, or Shaman King, or Kirby.
