Apparently the once great Cartoon Network block is finally kicking the bucket, or so I have heard.
Discuss.
Uh, source?
Yes, sauce is needed.
Not where I first read it of course, but it does lend support.
Also sometime during the last half hour they are going to give a special goodbye message to the fans.
If it true, perhaps it's for the best.
Nowadays, Toonami is only a mere shadow of what it used to be.
CN announced a good bit of news this weekend. Some of it you probably already know, but here it is collected for your convinience:
-Toonami dies tonight. There will be a farewell message between 10:30-11:00
-None of Toonami's staffers are being laid off, though. They're just getting shuffeled around to different parts of the network.
-FusionFall is being beta tested, and should hit in January.
-Enjoy old-school Adult Swim fridays while you can. Ratings have been flat and they'll be switching back to normal very soon.
-Speaking of flat ratings, Code Geass is doing horribly on Adult Swim. Its been banished to the 5 AM death slot, and will probably stay there (including the second season.) The only reason it's still even on is because CN is contractually obligated to air every episode at least once.
In other weeanews, Naruto only has 15 terrible episodes left and then it's over. No deal has been reached on Shippudden, so CN should be free of the obnoxious little fag while they negociate with Viz.
-Batman: Gotham Knight and Justice League: The New Frontier will air on CN in the near future.
-Also in the works: A live-action Ben 10 Alien Force movie.
-Foster's series finale in November. However, new TV movies are possible in the future, if ratings for the show remain strong.
-The last show to ever air on Toonami will be Samurai Jack Episode XXVI: Jack's Sandals.
This is all probably for the best. I agree with Kayla I didn't know Code Geass was doing so horribly. I'm kinda glad the Naruto Dub is ending. Good to hear nobody will be laid off.
I stopped watching Naruto as soon as the filler arc started. I don't even know why they bothered to dub it.
Arg is Cartoon Network getting any better?
Don't worry once they find a way to reword Sai's penis jokes they'll start dubbing Shippuden right away XD
But god, why would they. Shippuden sucks.
OMG!!! This has to be a lie!!!!! DAMN YOU CARTOON NETWORK...DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I SWEAR THIS BETTER BE A JOKE OR MY UNHOLY WRATH SHALL BE UPON THOSE JERKS LIKE A SHARK ON A LIL KID!
(one the other hand this will give me not only reason to quite watching CN completly...But to Write them Awful Hate letters & Deface there Studio..MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA CN U Just Wait...We outraged TOONAMI FANS SHALL STRIKE WITH THE FURY OF THE LORD SHAUN CONNERY HIMSELF!)
But seriously this better be a gag or I will Never watch CN or any warner owned network..EVER AGIAN!!!!

Shippuden sucks.
It does?
WOMAN YOU WILL EXPLAIN YOUR STATEMENT TO ME OR BE PADDLED AGAIN
O.o when was I paddled the first time??
Those in the know have been harping for months that Toonami's number would be up. It simply doesn't have the draw it once had. I suppose part of it has to do with losing weekdays and being relegated to Saturday nights.
I agree with Psx. Toonami started to die the moment it was pulled from the weekday slot.
It's a shame, too. Toonami was my first exposure to anime via Sailor Moon and Dragonball Z.

Depends on which TOM you grew up with, or with alot of people Moltar.

DBZ, Gundam Wing, AND Robotech <3
That said, I haven't watched it/ had cable in over 7 years... so yeaaaaah, bye bye
Remember when there was a new episode of DBZ every weekday?
God those were the days...
One word to describe the sendoff...
BANG.
Toonami...that stuff is still around? Really? Hahaha! But yea...this is weird. It's over. Heh
This is bringing back a lot of memories. I too remember DBZ, Sailor Moon, and Gundam Wing. I feel kind of nostalgic now. What will happen to their website Toonami Jetstream? Also, was it a good sendoff GT?

WHAT PART OF BANG DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND
Haha sorry, I was just curious if you had anything else to say.
Huh, I wasn't home so I didn't see the farewell. Meh, CN's always had hit or miss material, so it's no surprise for me to see an institution like Toonami fall. I do rather miss the Midnight Run of Toonami that they had before Adult Swim. XD
Well it certainly did end with a bang. In case anybody missed it http://funpiece.com/forums2/index.php?showtopic=1696&st=4 0"> http://www.youtube.com/wa...?showtopic=1696&st=40 . It's all kind of sad really.
Dang. In the UK we saw her rise from programing slot to TV channel and then her fall into nothingness.
It sucked to watch it die then and it sucks to watch it die again. Still, gotta say they went out with style.
(sighs with remorse) Well nuts.
Checking the schedule on CN's site for next Saturday, it looks like Total Drama Island is going to be in the Naruto time slots. That show's a mixed bag, but... seriously... TOTAL DRAMA ISLAND? I'd rather watch the filler.
Wha, what time is Naruto?
It was in the 7/7:30 Eastern slot.
I won't cry. TOM wouldn't want any of us to cry.
Thank you Toonami for 11 years of memories.
*Salutes*
Now they can bring back CNX *folds arms*
Hi..Its me again,,,I would like to Apalogize for my somewhat overzelous comments last night....In the end I am very Glad I was Lucky enough to HAve TOONAMI in my life for 11 years..I mean I remember when it 1st started with Moltar, when TOM took over,,,& now, I feel a little Dead inside....so I guess all I have left to say is....
IN MEMEORIUM
TOONAMI 1997-2008
TOM-1998-2008
YOU WILL BE MISSED! & To YOUR LOYAL FANS YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTTEN!
But its said, I mean its like the end of an era, TOONAMI was CN's last classic block. & Its ending Doesn't look to good for anime fans! All I can Say is that If I wasn't Such a forgiving person I would be Boycotting CN right now!. But I will E-mail them somthing semi-nasty! But on the Bright side we still Have Toonami Jetstream until sometime in 09! All I know Is that whatever Block Replaces ol Toonami has BIG & i Mean BIG Shoes to fill!
11 Years on the air.....FOREVER in Our Hearts & Minds!
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now they can bring back CNX *folds arms*
What's that?
Now they can bring back CNX *folds arms*
What's that?
A block that was on before toonami...it only lasted a few years....But Yes, They are Ressurecting it, IT will Take toonamis place as of OCTOBER.....& RISHI......YOU ARE MEAN!..Laughing at the pain of us true blue toonami fans!
I wonder what lies in CN's future.
Oh man I'd rather watch Naruto than that Drama Island show. But I'd actually just turn my tv off than sit and watch filler. I saw all the filler already in the original japanese I couldn't stand to watch it again in english.
Ugh. Why couldn't the filler arc actually BE a story arc? Instead of just random situations that are totally interchangeable. And even more so why the hell did Naruto have to be in every single one. It was the filler arc that made me HATE his character. It was like the writers just decided he had to be there all the time. Not even half of one episode can go by without that orange clad brat.

If I have a say in it...Death & Destruction, I mean 1st CN stops showing most of the origional Cartoon Cartoons, then they bring in a bunch of genaric crap, They Replace Fridays with that GAWD AWFUL Fried Dynamite! ADult Swim Started Airing most of their Animes at horrible hours, & most AS origionals Suck!& Now there Last Window to there Past fans, TOONAMI! is gone! All I can Say is that It's A good Thing CN Bought the Right To Air Clone Wars & Goosebumps...Or the Network Owuld be Dead before year end! But in all seriousness If your a toonami Fan & You want to speak your mind, Go to the CN site & Send em an e-mail! Tell them why TOM should be back on the air, & that while its important to Get new Generations of Kids to Watch, they should'nt forget there Earlyier Viewers!
All I can say is I give CN 5 years max, before the Network is either demolisehed or completly reformed!
I think Cartoon Network is trying to shake all of its old fans off like we're fleas and attract fresh meat. Since I guess most of its old fans are in their late teens and even adults. Like me >.> Little kids have no idea how good CN USED to be.

Too bad, because TDI is a ratings hit for CN so expect a lot more TDI to come.
... A LOT more! XD

I imagine Cartoon Network is facing the same problem the Fox Kids' Network used to have with shows like Animaniacs. The most lucrative advertising is the stuff aimed at the little ones and their amazing pester power. You can't sell advertising slots to those advertisers if you consistently bring in the late teens and twenty-somethings.
Mind you, about 10 years ago when I last had to babysit for anyone, I recall the CN in the UK airing Space Ghost: Coast to Coast & Animaniacs in the late evening. I guess at that time of night they weren't so bothered about the advertising. And Boomerang was great for rerunning DangerMouse.

Sadly DB I think You Might be right! I mean I guess they think Just becuase were older we don't need cartoons anymore...Well I say Screw CN I still Got my Comics & Manga, So whats Watching one less Network a month gonna do except make my electric & cable bill go down...wich is a good thing...LOL, But Yea, I sure hope That will see TOM & Toonami agian someday....Bu the na gain if we do it'll most likely on Boomerang (Cringe)

And it's working

when shippuden actually starts doing The "Snake" ark, then it should start picking up. other than that i'm willing to agree that a filler ark in that show is just wrong.

It's true that is why they canceled justice league unlimited. Teenagers and adults will not buy merchandise.
"It's been a while, TOM."
"That it has, Sarah."
"I can only assume your return to The Absolution means that we are finished."
"Yep. Toonami's over."
Silence, save the hum of the machines in the background.
"So what does that mean for us?" TOM did not reply at first. Instead, he walked slowly to a large switch, wearing a frown. "TOM?"
"You already know," he said, clutching the switch.
"Yes," she said, a tinge of finality on her mechanical yet soothing voice, "I do."
"Stay golden, Sarah."
"You too, TOM. I think... I will miss you," she said.
"No," said TOM, sighing sorrowfully, pulling the switch. "You won't."
Sarah's hologram flickered for a few seconds before fading. The machines around TOM died out too. The Absolution was absolutely silent. The only light left in the room emanated from a single red button across from the switch TOM had just pulled.
Even slower this time, he somberly ambled to the switch. He scanned his memory banks for any file relating to Toonami, feeling one last rush of nostalgia. Finally, after what seemed like an all too short eternity, he arrived at the button, reading the label above it.
TOM Final Killswitch.
TOM, hand shaking, rested a single finger on the button. He sighed again, and whispered...
"Bang."
THATS TOO SAD PSXOHILE...I'll tell you what really went down!
The Absolution's Systems Rebooted, A Dazed Sarah Slowly Reconstructsherself to see TOM in his new form in front of her..Huh..what..TOM..Is that you...how long have i been off line..A little over a Year Honey, replies tom..WHa..what happened..Well....TOM explains to Sarah how CN had Reassigned himn to a Back water plaent & CUt his block in half, forcing him to put the absolution in stasis-lock,forced him to get a more childish look, only to cancel toonami a year later,,,Well Im glad your back said srah...but what will we do now that toonami's over...well I was thinking we'd go back to ghost planet & see If Moltar had any job openings......But 1st things 1st....CN wants the absolution for there own dark purposes...we can't let that happen, so Set the self Destruct sequence, then Teleport me to GHost planet while you download yourself To the back-up server at Moltars..well Rondevouz at o 22:00..O.K. TOM...& Tom....Yea toots...Just Rmember...The Fans will always have you in their hearts...yea...I guess..tom sighs as the teleport beam consumes him...30 seconds later the Absolution Explodes......Later TOM & Sarah Reunite...Moltar Lets them Bunk With Him & TOM Gets a Neww Week night block on GHost TV where he lives out the rest of his days as GHOST PLANETS #1 TV show host! As for TOMS bros. Well Flash Sued CN for cancleing TOONAMI & won 20 million in retribution, & the Big Green Guy..well he became cahmpion of the Intergalactic robo-boxing circuit....Alls well that ends well i guess!...THE END!
THERE..THATS BETTER!
OH Almost forgot..5 years after the cancellation of TOONAMI CN WENT Bankedrupt & was Replaced with A nehtwork called TURNER KIDS...Wich Featured the best of 80-mid y2k cartoons & anime!
Wait...

I like how legion can automatically multiply any amount of epic win by -1.
