These advertisements truly transcended advertisement and became art. I'll never forget them.

Toonami was cool back in the day. Now, not so much. I'm glad I had this chance to look fondly back at it.

I like how legion can automatically multiply any amount of epic win by -1.

Your welcome Stair..& Those Ads truly Were beutifu...I have to ask thoug...When Tom Signed off, he said "Until we meet again" It makes me wonder IF CN Will Ever Use tom again, or if not them Mabye AS..Yea TOM should come in & Fix AS saturday night anime linbe-up Get Geass on at a diffetent time, Get reruns of Big-o & Bebebop...Now that would Be an Epic Win In my book, Either that Or just Give TOM Complete control of Cartoon Network & Adult swim...Now that would be EPIC!

You are speaking without breathing Legion.

The fact of the matter is that Toonami is not coming back. There might be multiple people out there who are talking about making an unofficial online version out there lately, but the original is still not coming back.

The guy who did these songs (along with most (all?) of other Toonami promos) is named Joe Boyd Vigil. He's still doing music to this day, actually. But yeah, those ads were pretty damned cool.

Anyway, I guess it's pretty sad to see the programming block go since I've been watching it since I was like 7. Well, I stopped watching it years ago, but still. I have fond memories of watching the premier episodes of the DBZ Garlic Jr saga on the Saturday morning Toonami Rising Sun and uncut Gundam Wing on the Toonami Midnight Run - along with the regular weekday stuff I'd watch after school.

This site has a ton of old Toonami promos and stuff for viewing if anyone feels like going on a nostalgia trip.

In all fairness, Toonami was pretty much dead the day they made Tom look like Thomas the Tank Engine. >.>

"It's been a while, TOM."

"That it has, Sarah."

"I can only assume your return to The Absolution means that we are finished."

"Yep. Toonami's over."

Silence, save the hum of the machines in the background.

"So what does that mean for us?" TOM did not reply at first. Instead, he walked slowly to a large switch, wearing a frown. "TOM?"

"You already know," he said, clutching the switch.

"Yes," she said, a tinge of finality on her mechanical yet soothing voice, "I do."

"Stay golden, Sarah."

"You too, TOM. I think... I will miss you," she said.

"No," said TOM, sighing sorrowfully, pulling the switch. "You won't."

Sarah's hologram flickered for a few seconds before fading. The machines around TOM died out too. The Absolution was absolutely silent. The only light left in the room emanated from a single red button across from the switch TOM had just pulled.

Even slower this time, he somberly ambled to the switch. He scanned his memory banks for any file relating to Toonami, feeling one last rush of nostalgia. Finally, after what seemed like an all too short eternity, he arrived at the button, reading the label above it.

TOM Final Killswitch.

TOM, hand shaking, rested a single finger on the button. He sighed again, and whispered...

"Bang."

I agree with Toby. TOM was so much more cuter when he was short and chubby with a really big head. I remember I always used to squee over him when I watched Toonami.

CN has almost completely corroded since I first started watching it in the early '90s. I pretty much dropped CN the minute they started playing live-action movies.

Shippuden has been all SORTS of awesome. Even the freakin' SORA filler was decent. It was much more watchable than any of the garbage fillers the first Naruto series had. The story telling is a lot deeper and less childish, by a lot, and the musical score is 10 times better than the cheap Yamaha crap they used half the time in the first series.

And they actually made Sakura into a likable character. I mean, she kicks ass... and it's GREAT.

So why all the hate for Shippuden? *foldsarms*

Oh, and yeah, goodbye Toonami, bla bla bla, it sucked lately anyway. Bad shoes = bad ratings. Instead of fixing it with GOOD shows, though, it freakin' kills it completely. I blame the fact that the anime shows that are running on Adult Swim should have stayed on Toonami.

Or, was there a reason why the more "adultish" anime shows split off into anime? Were there complaints? I never found out about that.

Dude I'm Canadian. We don't even HAVE Cartoon Network, but I still watched Toonami when I was in Jamaica for two weeks.

So... yeah I guess you are the only one! XD;

Oh, Toonami. Who's going to pay for Steven Blum's health insurance now? Still, I have some good memories of Toonami. For a while it was the only place to get a Reboot fix. It introduced me to the world of Gundam. I remember staying up late to watch the "unedited" episodes back when they still had the Midnight Run time block. Oh well. All good things ...

Damn. Toonami gave me Thundercats back in mid 90's -.- And Sailor Moon again. Hell DBZ again. Sheezus He-Man too although that crap sucked...

After 2001 I stopped watching Toonami, but wow, it has been a looong time. LOL They had Johnny Quest on right after back then, o god I hated that show with their wanna be Reboot segments..

now, I wish they had the commercials for old Toonami. Those, were damned hilarious.

True, but cartoons and anime series tend to come and go. How often does a voice actor, or any actor for that matter, have a steady eleven-year gig? Never meant to imply the guy doesn't get enough work, because lord knows his voice is freaking everywhere. He's good, but I think he's become over-exposed.

how did that filler ark end anyways? the only episode i saw was when naruto and sora were both conveiniently learning wind manipulation from asuma. doesn't that like directly interfere with the hidan and kakuzu thing?

Wait.

Wait wait wait wait.

That googly-eyed fridgebodied thing was TOM?!

I think I just died a little.

Stopped watching old Toonami back when I started working in mid-2001. Picked it up when I could, didn't like what I saw. The last good show they picked up, IMO was One Piece with the Funi dub, and they replaced that with another pet monster show. Therefore...Toonami has long been dead to me.
