Wow. Can't beleive we don't have a Transformers thread yet. oo
Post away people. I'm come and give my review when I'm not shooting down overly-ambitious little gits on other forums.
Going to see it tomorrow night... time is moving very slowly.
Hopefully it'll pave the way for more films about giant robots kicking each others can. I just love giant robots! <3
I've seen it three times since it's premiere.
Totally kick ass.
I have yet to see it, but when I do, I'll get a tiny little bonus...
Seeing it for free. <3 Working at the movie theater does have its benefits!
...now if only I can watch it before Harry Potter 5 comes out, because when it does it's probably at my theater and I'll be working my butt off just to keep up with the crowds.
I'm seeing it this Saturday. I've been hearing a lot of great things about the movie, but I have to see for myself.
Spoilers (Select To Read): I heard that Jazz died?
I'll see it on Sunday. Maybe.
In other news, a sequel's already been green-lighted.
Spoilers (Select To Read): Yes, Jazz dies. Courtesy of Megatron.
Also, Starscream gets away, leaving the end open, and hence why the sequel has been greenlighted.
*rolls his Scorponok toy along the table* SPINNY SPINNY SPINNY DEATH!...- ...why're you looking at me like that?
Wow that movie was just... *EXPLODES*
Okay, once my hype dies down I may be able to properly judge this film, but right now I have to say... MICHAEL BAY ROCKS! Watching this was like watching Spiderman again for the first time, but like 1000x more epic.
I almost cried when during that scene with the autobots landing on Earth. Is that weird? It probably is, but I don't care. I can't say I was disappointed with anything. More Starscream would've been nice, but it looks like he'll be back for the sequel anyway.
Can't wait to see it again. Now excuse me while I lubricate myself.
I hate the way the Transformers actually look D=
Just came back from seeing it. It was simply awesome. =D
I plan to avoid the movie like it was some sort of bad rash. The original cartoon was a bad excuse to sell kids toys. The movie is a bad excuse to sell those same kids who are now nostalgia-ridden adults Chevrolet cars.
Eh, it's just a generation thing, Box. The designs weren't horrific, i's just that everyone was expecting them to look like G1 instead of Todd McFarland(sp?), to quote my friend. Granted, I loved the scene where they subtly get back at Volkswagen for saying "NO YOU CANNOT USE THE BEETLE TO MAKE A WAR MACHINE, WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH WARS" in the used car lot. While one of my favorites bit it, rumor has it the sequel's gonna have another one of my favorites: Grimlock. a couple of my transfan friends are saying that the sequel's going to have Soundwave and Grimlock (presumably meaning we may also see the likes of Swoop, Snarl, Ravage and others).
For me it's more that most designs seem unrecognisable, with the vaguest of elements retained to be recognisable, such as Bumble Bee being yellow and Jazz having a visor and that's that. Optimus isn't a problem really, he's obviously retained enough to look like who he is but even then is seems like they went out of their way to remove as much about the characters as they could, I've seen some fan designs and edits that look closer to the originals but still have that living metal look they're going with like this and this.
Still, I saw the promotional art for the new Transformers Animated series coming out next year....
...lets just say I'm more in favour of the movie designs than I ever have been and greatly look forward to seeing the film.

Second'd.
Personally, I prefer the designs for the movie in that live-action setting, because it just seems wrong to have the blocky way they're usually represented.
But as for this cartoon... Yuck.
I thought it was mediocre
of course
everything is after you've seen Live Free or Die Hard <3
I saw Transformers last Saturday for my birthday, and it freaking rocked. Seriously, this is the movie Michael Bay was meant for. nN
I loved it. Me and my sister went and saw it Sunday, and she loved it as well. She's never been into Transformers much, but she adores Bumblebee now.
Did Optimus say "Do a barrel roll" like the internet poll decided he would?
Awesome movie. And unlike most CG/live action sequences to date, they made it feel extremely real; it was difficult to nearly impossible to tell that the robots were CG and stuck into place like they were.
It was also neat to see how they interpreted the Transformer tehnology, as far as assimilating new forms goes among other things. It added to the element of not knowing which vehicles were really good or bad guys; I kept having to look at each car and see whether it had a Decepticon or Autobot symbol on it. Even cell phones and other devices started looking awfully suspicious!
It is also brilliant that they intertwined each Transformer in with an actual real-life vehicle. This combined realism with advertising. My only dislike is that Bumblebee was not a VW Beetle; until Optimus said his name, I thought he was Hotshot or something. But at the same time, I did like the character and the choice of car did fit better as far as being the kind of car that a young person would like to drive, since that was a part of the plot. Not to mention his flip-down faceplate thing fit the "Bumblebee" image a lot better. It was a cool car, though I still have a soft spot for VW.
They captured the sheer mobility of Transformer combat very well in ways the cartoon hardly approached, even the newer anime ones. At first with Blackout, he moved more like a mecha from MechWarrior, but that had elements of coolness in itself as he waded through an entire military base. But later, they used their vehicular as well as their ambulatory mobility to their advantage in some of the fights; I only wish there was at least one scene with an Autobot revving up and catching some air from a ramp, then transforming in mid-flight to land a punch on a Decepticon.
All in all, the focus on the humans was not as bad as I thought it would be, and actually was really balanced. The main human teenager characters also contributed directly instead of just being hostages.
Frenzy was pure awesome. He pretty much stole the movie. The audience I saw the movie with loved him.
Darn, now I want a Frenzy plushie.

In case you hadn't heard, it's because Volkswagen decided they no longer wanted their line of cars associated with 'war toys'. There was a nice dig at them in the movie, as a VW Beetle was parked next to Bumblebee in the car lot.
Frenzy is a reincarnation of Waspinator =O
I did notice that though in the movie about the Beetle. 😛 Though I didn't quite interpret it at the time as a dig, it makes perfect sense.
It was a little long but the female lead was a spicy meatball, so that evened out...
The final fighting sequences were pretty entertaining!!

No. Evidently, good taste swept in and thus the line used was
Or, from another source, I hear it was because Hasbro stepped in to stop it by making a "barrel roll blaster" toy, thus nullifying somehow the line's use in the movie. So no. The masses of the internet were stopped from ruining a great thing.
Ohh, also, I'd like to point out how I hate how everyone on TV and radio pronounces "Transformers" as if it was two words. psh. knaves.
It was a good movie, except the camera shakes too much. I don't know about you, but I like being able to tell what's going on
in response to the new animated series.....
what the hell was wrong with the animation from armada? maybe it's just me, but the new series' are seriously dissapointing animation wise atleast keep true to the original series.
I preferred Armada's animation of Cybertron and Energon. Srsly.

Dude yea the first time I saw SM is what I like to compare any other comic/sci-fi movie to and Transformers was effing insane. Good gosh. As for the sequel. Yay yay! =]
