I got my Rush kick going again and a quick trip to the remix masters at MusicintheAbstract.org has given me some stripped down versions of songs from the latest album. The bass/drums emphasis version of Armor & Sword is especially fantastic and will make my iPod the next time I feel like updating it.
For Rush fans on the site, please check out MitA, it's such a fascinating little site and offers an insight into the hidden delicacies Rush tunes hide and you would never know without the audio being isolated. Who would have thought there was a mandolin hidden in the back of one of the Vapor Trail songs?
Will gladly check out!
Also, is it just Rush or is it other bands as well?
Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name
I have yet to hear a riff as dark and gripping that holds so much emotional pull as the one in this song
Someday - The Strokes
Starman - David Bowie.
All because of LittleKuriboh and his Naruto Parody Parody.
Ozric Tentacles - Oakum
Too bad Rishi is banned or else he'd have an orgasm lol >_>
February Air - Lights <3
Rush - 2112
Possibly the cheesiest 20+ minute epic ever but it fits so perfectly!
I approve of the listening to of 2112.
For myself, I am listening to the Gundam Wing soundtrack, as the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya one has yet to hit the interwebs in torrentable format and Trish refuses to listen via YouTube.
When The Dragon Swims is such a badass track. You should find it and listen right away.
2112 would be my favorite 10+ minute epic if Rime of the Ancient Mariner didn't exist
That song is only 13 minutes though so I guess you can say its my favorite 20 minute long epic!
Still, I try to sing to 2112 and I realize how bad a singer I am. ._.
My voice is way too harsh to sing that, I have a really weird snarl when I try to sing and its very low-pitched too. *Sigh*
I know I may get maimed for this comment but I can't help but think that the main riff in Overture of 2112 is a Proto-metal riff. Not that its metal but damn if it doesn't sound like something that is present in a lot of late 70's/ early 80's metal, or at least to me. o.o
Black Sabbath - The Sign of the Southern Cross
rezzing this thread cause I liked it.
Spacebase - Ozric tentacles
Imagination - Laura Branigan - as recommended by Last.fm because I like Gloria and Self Control...

Been listening to lots of Blind Guardian lately. Right now I'm playing "Time, what is time"
Saturday Sat Alone by Love You to Death. "Freak out! She has exboyfrienditis!"
"Baby You're a Rich Man" - The Beatles
Just watched Kanye's "Runaway" short movie. It had some nice cinematography and some of the music was alright. Still, at 35 min, it felt like a waste of my time.
*swears as Yuku loses her post* Is it my fault I type so fast? (OK, technically it is).
Nat King Cole - Let's Face the Music and Dance. Amazing song, even if every time I hear it I think of long-defunct advertising campaigns for life insurance...

Talyor Swift's latest album, Speak Now...
Definitely not digging it as much as i thought I would... I'm on around track 10 and there are only 2 or 3 songs I'd actually consider listening to again =|
