I rented the Incredible Hulk and Iron Man on Saturday. I watched the Hulk on Sunday and Iron Man last night; both were good, but I like Iron Man better of the two-it was so awesome!!
Just got back from Iron Man 2.... FREAKING AWESOME
Iron Man 2.
Twice.
It's awesome!
Side note: Really looking forward to Thor, there aren't enough capes in my Marvel movies.
I support this message. Thor has Natalie Portman in it. But me and some buddies are seeing IM2 tonight. Pretty pumped. Woop woop!
I had a big post talking about all the movies I seen recently in the Quick Reply box. Then I accidentally clicked Boston's sig. >> Poof. Too ticked off to rewrite it.
Felix the Cat: The Movie
Man is some of the animation bad in this movie, it's like all over the place. Then again when I was a kid and watched this, I didn't think the animation was too hot. I saw the dancing scene for the first time in years and remember why that stupid tune was stuck in my head for a while...kind of surreal and haunting. Felix had more snappy one liners than Bubsy could ever hope to say.
Saw Robin Hood 2 weeks ago and Prince of Persia last night. Both were pretty decent. Robin Hood was more of a backstory on the character than I cared for, was looking for more robbing from the rich, giving to the poor and hanging out in Sherwood Forrest kinda stuff, but it was alright. PoP was pretty entertaining, didn't have high expectations for it though. Dagger Time scenes were awesome, story had some predictable but awesome twists.
Oh, and I finally watched Tron. Was no where near as bad as I thought it would be... actually it was fairly good 8O. Kinda excited for Tron 2 now.
So yeah, aside from those three, I haven't seen much in the way of movies. Borrowed the Road, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I've been catching up on Chuck the last few weeks, along with watching the newest episodes of Castle, Big Bang Theory, and How I Met Your Mother =D
The Empire Strikes Back original theatrical release.
One of my all time favourite movies, everything feels believable, and how the hell can a pupet from the early 80s animate better than a puppet from the late 90s?!
Also oldschool Boba had a kickass voice.
Quite a few actually...
Shooter
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
A Bug's Life
Kiki's Delivery Service
All pretty good. Shooter was okay, nothing special. Plot's been done to death I suppose. A Bug's Life is still my favorite Pixar film and one I think is a bit underrated. And is it bad that I've read some of the Harry Potter books and was terribly bored but I watch the films and I love them better? Because I do and I usually prefer the book over the movie...just...weird. Though I hated the first one and found it boring. I still have HP and the Order of the Phoenix and Howl's Moving Castle to watch...I imagine they both will be good.
FINNALLY!!! Iron Man 2. It kicked buttt.
Disney's Robin Hood this morning on BBC2. Having the week off at half term is great Made the pile of ironing seem to diminish a lot quicker than usual.
DW
I watched the first five Harry Potters. Idk why, I was always being told how awesome they were, and after enjoying the first one, I watched some of the others. Considering maybe reading the book. The movies make me feel like a lil kid again
I watched the original "The Haunting" last night. I rather enjoyed it, quite creepy, although not scary. It was much better than "The House on Haunted Hill", which basically had not a lot going for it but Vincent Price. Also, one Moneypenny (Lois Maxwell) was in "The Haunting".
Next up is probably "Tale of Two Sisters".
DW
Wasn't really the last movie I seen, but the last movie I went to see was Prince of Persia. Was okay, nothing too great. I didn't care for how the story/plot was developing or a lot of the parkour(sp?) type stuff, but it was kinda entertaining. Worth a rent or netflix, but I wouldn't purchase it.
I too saw Prince of Persia recently, not bad, can't say it was great but there have been worse movies. I did enjoy the twist at the end, even if it was a bit telegraphed. All in all, it was your standard Disney action/adventure movie. Complete with random comic relief character and black guy who is the first of the group to die (okay that one isn't really a Disney trope but still.) Overall a 7 out of 10.
Just got back from Toy Story 3 (in NON-3D, so I could actually see everything). So many WONDERFUL callbacks to the previous two movies. And the Pixar short was one of the most creative things I've seen in a while?
Basically?
WATCH IT
Ooh, does that mean it will be out here soon? My house is draining me of all money, but I'm saving some pennies aside for Toy Story 3. And potentially Black Death.
DW
June 24 for Australia.
July 23 for the UK and Ireland.
Thanks for the heads up. Wonder what we did to annoy the House of Mouse so?
DW
Well I've seen a Decent amount of Movies so far this Summer.
Back in May I say Iron man 2 & Prince of Persia, So far this month I have seen Jonah Hex & Toy Story 3, all of these have been good filmos IMPO.
Ghost in the Shell.
After watching through the first season of Stand Alone Complex, me and my brother decided to watch the movies before moving on to 2nd Gig.
It's been years since I watched this movie, probably over ten, and I didn't quite grasp the themes as a teenager. The animation and art is beautiful, though I prefer SAC's designs, but the characters' personalities are mostly the same, with only Motoko being the one that seems strikingly different. She seems much less confident, and not as quick witted, though this might be a trick from the different VAs.
I will say this though, there was a lot more padding than I remembered. Gorgeous padding, but padding none the less.
Next will be GitS2: Innosence. Last time I tried to watch it I was cut short 30 minutes into it, and up to then it was pretty dull. This time I'll give it a proper chance.
Watching the entire DBZ series on DVD!!! Currently on the 7th season!
The DBZ series isn't a movie you silly!
Anyways I really want to go see Toy Story 3, but I don't have any money and the only theatre near me is showing it only in 3D! T_T Prince of Persia was the last movie I watched though. The Sands of Time game is one of my favorite games ever, so of course I would go see the movie. After watching it I wondered what made this movie Prince of Persia? Remove the Dagger of Time and rework the script and it could have been any other Arabian themed Action/Adventure movie! Oh, well! At least it was mindless fun!
Saw A Team on Wednesday. Pretty awesome =). Not amazing, but a good summer action flick. Although they should have kept the tank scene a secret instead of showing it in the trailer.
I just got back from Toy Story 3 tonight... >> I was in tears with the ending >> ... Probably Pixar's best movie yet. Very touching. The scenes during the credits were awesome as well. Oh, and the Totoro cameo was a nice nod from Lasseter.
Heh, sorry about that. The last movie I saw...I pretty sure it was Blade Runner: Final Cut. This has to be my most favorite movie ever.
Mm... Let's see. Last movie I saw in theaters was "Snakes on a Plane". Yes, it was that long ago. ^^; Ah well.
Last movie I saw on DVD was not Cars, because I am an idiot. It was, in fact, "Contact". A recommendation from Craig and a movie we started watching in Astronomy but never finished. Mom and I bought it and watched it the other day, and it was amazing <img class="go2wpf-bbcode" src=" ALT="">
Last movie I saw on TV was Men In Black 2, as it was on in the hotel I stayed at. I feel like sharing my moment of stupidity - as I walked in the room, all I saw was a couple of guys in suits driving, talking about crime, so I asked my roommate watching, "Are you watching Law and Order?" The look she gave me was awesome, even though I felt horribly stupid. >3
Anyway, rambling aside. Uh.... yeah, that's about it **shrug**,
~Shadowed Spirit Sage
Saw Toy Story 3 yesterday. I enjoyed it, Pixar has done the impossible by making a sequel to a sequel that was just as good as the first 2. Star Wars and Indiana Jones are the only other 2 that come to mind. Anyway, terrific movie, here's to hoping they don't ruin it by making Toy Story 4.
Currently in the middle of watching Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone.
...
Original English Dub Gendo > Rebuild's English Dub Gendo, otherwise I'm enjoying this nostalgia trip.
Saw Toy Story 3 and it was a great movie. Perfect sad ending and everything came in a circle. Go watch it!
Saw Eclipse and I agree with comments that it was better than the other two movies. It didn't quite make me laugh like the books did but I got to see some hot Native American wolf boys. Bella is still stupid and Edward is still a weirdo. Go Team Alice and team Jasper! Btw, the part where Maria whispers to Jasper, was it just me or did it seem like she was talking dirty to him O.o The whole "chupa" business was creepy.
Off topic: The books made you laugh? I had quite a different experience...
Saw Shrek 4 last night. Rather short at an hour and a half, but ideal for a Sunday evening when you still haven't done the ironing Better than the 3rd one, but still like the first two better. Still, plenty of laughs, so overall good.

I just saw 'Black Dynamite'. This is a must-watch movie for anyone who's tired of drug dealers selling smack to the orphans. At the orphanage. It's bad selling smack to kids, but it's worse selling to orphans, because orphans don't have parents.
Be it the streets, the suburbs, or even the halls of power; Black Dynamite isn't going to rest until he has rid the world of dealers who deal to orphanages, nefarious racists with nefarious plans and anyone who is a practitioner of KUNG FU TREACHERY!
This is the best parody that has been released in nearly a decade, no doubt about it. It's a good way to wash the taste of the insipid unfunny horrific '*Generic Genre* Movie' series out of your brain.
And it's on Netflix Instant, so it could be awesome on your screen RIGHT AS WE SPEAK
Last saw Half Blood Prince which was terrible, such a waste of my time. The Dark Lord is free and about...so why are our heroes too busy engaged in silly little romances when hello, the Dark Lord is free and about!
I recently watched some clips of 2001: A Space Odyssey on Youtube (Hal killing off all those scientists is creeeeepy. And what's with that monolith scene?) but I doubt I'll bite since I usually find sci-fi boring.
lmao Black Dynamite is awesome.
Just seen Inception a few hours ago at the midnight showing. It was pretty damn cool. Kinda long and you have to really pay attention, but a really solid movie.
Saw Despicable Me last night, saw Predators a few hours ago.
DM was a good movie (pales in comparison to TS3, but what doesn't) with some good moments; the little girls and the minions were adorable and hilarious.
Predators was AWESOME compared to AVP (a guilty pleasure) and AVP2 (BLECH).
Inception = SO GOOD. SO VERY VERY GOOD.
the Adam West Batman: The Movie. Sooo funny. ^^ "Somedays you just can't get rid of a bomb!"
EDIT: Hah, I was so busy thinking about Batman I forgot why I watched it in the first place: to wash out the taste of the movie I saw immediately before, Law Abiding Citizen. What a stupid movie. It's trying to preach a message about the legal system, but the preposterous machinations of Gerard Butler's completely (unintentionally) unsympathetic terrorist and the lazy writing just make it painful to watch.
Inception. HOLY MIND BLOWN. The special effects were phenomenal. The story was captivating. The actors were amazing (Ellen Page <3 <3 <3 ). I pretty much guessed the ending about half way through, except for the final scene . Great movie, can't wait to go see it again.
A few weeks ago I watch Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, and my god is it a mess. I love the Ghost in the Shell universe and the movie was a great portrayal of it, it was insightful, questioning, and beautiful, this on is as well, I guess, but it's so confusing, long winded, uninteresting that I just can't care. It constantly makes references to philoshers', quoting so much that it takes up about a third of the dialogue. This can be done well, adding to the knowledge of a character and help you understand where they're coming from, but it happens so much that it feels like it's doing it just to do "LOOK HOW SMART WE ARE!". And EVERYONE seems to be a philosphy major.
There are some nice aspects. For example, it's a beautifully created world, animation is superb and locations are stunning. There's a great atmosphere and I love the zoom in effect in Batou's vision. The character designs seem mostly the same as other incarnations, though Ishikawa having a crew cut and thin beard as opposed to the curly/scruffy look I'm used to in all other incarnations was rather odd, didn't even look like a less hairy version but a completely different character. Also the voice acting in the English dub features the cast of the Stand Alone Complex series, some of whome were in the original movie too (Batou, Arimaki), but the pitch it off, too deep. The bar scene was good too.
Last night, however, I watched Steamboy, the second full anime movie by the director of Akira. And I loved it.
Now, unlike a lot of people, I don't really care for Akira. Sure the animation is spectacular, the cyberpunk world is awesome, they've got cool laser guns and motorcycles, and there are some funny and some awesome scenes, but the plot felt like it was pretty much a standard monster movie scenario, only with a super powered kid turned blob monster. One of my main gripes about that movie was for the treatment of the character Kaori, Tetsuo's sympathizer throughout the story. She's not well written, and as a character who's caring and compasionate towards the socially suffering anti-hero, her very unfortunate run in with a rival motorcycle gang and her gruesome death near the end felt very uncomfortable to watch, though perhaps that's the point.
Steamboy however is a big step up. The lead character Ray Steam is a young inventor in a steam punk alternate history, set in 1866 England, starting in Manchester and going to London aswell. The visual, much like Akira, are stunning, some of the best I've witnessed in an animated movie. The steampunk setting of 19th Century Britain is beautifully crafted, with imaginative machinations created by both the hero and the villains, if they should be called that.
One thing I do love is that it's not obvious who you're supposed to be routing for, as Ray is forced to choose between the scientific ideals of his father, Edward Steam (Alfred Molina), and grandfather Lloyd Steam (Patrick Stuart). Edward subscribes to the idea that science will bring the ultimate power to the world, regardless of whether it's used for money or military purposes, while Lloyd is much more like Nicola Tesla, science should be strictly for the benefit of mankind and the world. Despite this the movie does a good job of making them rather morally ambiguois, and both being good people at heart, caring for Ray and wanting him to be a part of their lives, yet still at odds with one and other.
My only problem is really the ending. I won't spoil anything but I will say that the climax is pretty much where the film comes to a close, with no real epilogue as such. Though much like Metropolis (another great anime movie, watch it now) there is an epilogue of sorts through the credits, as still images seem to play out the history of Ray's life.
I highly recommend this movie to anyone who loves great adventure movies, but there's a bonus for me. The authentic British actors really bring this movie to life, it's rare to see a foreign product actually care about representing my homeland with any authenticity but I can safely say I felt very much at home with it.
Just got back from watching Inception. This movie has to be one of the greatest things I've saw so far this year. The story is incrediable, but the plot got VERY convoluted and was somewhat hard to keep up with, but that is only a minor detracter. I'm sure it will be easier to follow during subsequent viewings. Watch this movie! In Theaters! You will not be disapointed!
triump of the will.
that hitler, what a guy.
Inception = SO GOOD. SO VERY VERY GOOD.
Seconded.
WATCH IT NOW
OMG, Inception was the BOMB! I loved absolutely everything about that movie! <3 I can't remember the last time I've seen a movie in theaters and not got bored by any slow parts! Inception literally had my attention the whole time.
Halfway through the film the fire alarm went off and the movie stopped rolling, so I was able to go to the bathroom, not miss anything, and get a free movie pass for the "inconvience". muahaha! >: D
I saw Inception again on Wednesday . Still awesome. Definitely will be getting it when it comes out on DVD.
Oh, and I just finished watching Beauty and the Beast. One of my favorite Disney movies growing up, although it is no Aladdin .
THE IRON GIANT!!!!!!
Simplely classic.
Laputa: Castle in the Sky
Maybe it was just me but this movie flew by. I'm used to Miyazaki films taking their time but this film had other ideas. At times, it seemed even fast for me and I'm notorious for squeezing half a novel into a single ten page chapter. Still enjoyed it quite a bit, loved the music and some of the actors were great, including Hamill as the villain.
Still, out of all the Miyazaki films I've watched, it's a tie between Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle for my favorite.
I watched the first hour (out of 3.5!) or so of Seven Samurai the other day (had to leave before finishing it) and so far, I really enjoyed it. There's a lot of iconic and classic imagery that it's fun to experience for the first time, and of course Mifune is always fun. I'll pick it back up sometime soon.
Dune. It was... weird.
Inception. Awesome, easily the best movie I've seen all year. Nolan now has two films in my Top 10 list!
Watched Toy Story 3.
...Armond White is an asshole.
EDIT:
And today....
AKIRA
One word.
DAMN
Also TETSUOOOOO
