Post opinions of what is good in yuku and what can be better. *research*
[19] | <Pach> | My only cons at the moment |
[20] | <Pach> | Is on the main page of the forum, the 'Active Members' list and 'Mark all Forums Read' buttons are on the very bottom |
[20] | <Pach> | Meaning I'd need to scroll down all the way to the bottom to use them |
less things I'm unfamiliar with
Everything's sorta shiny. Like Windows Vista but worse. =<
On the upside I totally found every single post I ever made, starting with my very first one in South Island back in '05. :3
Oh, my custom title seems to have gone kablooey. At least from my point of view.
It took me like 10 minutes to figure out how to set my avatar. D:
It merged all my alts into one automagically without it even asking me. <3
Best: RSS
Worst: Give me HTML back you bastards!
Also, why can't I ignore myself! uu
So far, it's definitely superior to ezboard. Yes, definitely. My only complaint so far would be that I need to figure out how to do some things again.
a couple of strange quirks here and there (archives hidden in forum jump, leaving post in html view and forgetting to insert linebreaks, inability to post without your avatar), but nothing significant. a search engine that actually functions like a search engine is a nice addition, should the need to use it arise. i also appreciate the removal of ezcodes and the ability to use html in sigs.
Worst: Give me HTML back you bastards!
it's right next to the spellcheck.
wes, what the hell?
Why does my avatar come out gigantic?
because regardless of what the avatar page might say, this forum does not resize it. some fora do.
how does i resize plz
@ Wesu - Try imageshack or photobucket first to see if that works
As for cons:
-The overall look of the forum. Bigger is not always better, though I'll get used to it.
-Can't see the background because of stretched posts; albeit, a small preference.
-Quick Reply is still D:
-And figuring out everything.
Still getting used to yuku although, it's like walking around a new campus and not knowing where things are type of feeling. Anything else is just small preferences, and I don't see anything that drastic that's bad.
how does i resize plz
you don't. not without an image editing program, anyway.
Curse having to put forth effort.
I dunno... I always frequently used the board-select drop-down menu (or drop-up menu, rather) that was at the bottom of every board. Is not that big a deal tho'.
But so far, I enjoy the freshness. It feels like rubbing the shrink wrap covering of a freshly cold package of ground beef.
Best: Dunno, havn't explored it enough, but it's likely going to be image hosting or something like that.
Worst: I kind of miss the community profile fluff at the top of the page.
at the top of the page.
Where is QotW? D:
I just realized it's not there.
Well, the place has a more bolder, shinier, and dare I say...wider feel. I think the only major con is scrolling gets a bit choppy or maybe it's just my computer.
I miss the VISIBLE dropdown menu for forum jumping.
some of my modding options seem to have poofed. o-o; but i think that comes under 'things in new places, you need to re-learn them!'
also - i still can't change my avatar. i click on it and it takes me back to my profile page. ox??
Made me change my avatar, for one.
Hmm.
No more table stretching, each post can have it's own horizontal scroll bar, if need be.
I miss not being able to resize my avatar.
Then again, it found all (read: EJ) my alts. Yay!
I dont like yuku... =X
Best feature I've found so far is that it keeps track of all the topics I have read. (Clicking on the board link like MF Central after reading this topic OR by replying or editing the post).
My annoyance is that yuku, by default, will always show my signature (which I don't want to show yet).
I also noticed that you can upload your pictures from your hard drive but I don't know where that function went.
The only thing I really have a problem with is the fact that we lost posts in the move.
I miss not being able to resize my avatar.
At least a good thing that'll come about self resizing is that people will no longer use there 1600x1200 10 meg wallpapers reduced by ez to 100x100 for avas
>> Wheres my forum jum-Oh, its under Quick Reply. That's nasty. Fix that--no. Its not there!! Not liking at all! >O
Oh its over there...
ooh thats a lil better.
Ok No real problems then.
The translucent tables in MF Central still make Firefox slow down like a mutha.
Yuku resembles social networking sites like Myspace or Facebook, with a forum attached to them...
...and this is NOT a good thing.
EDIT: Okay, I'm getting really cheesed off with this malarkey right now. Not only does the place have a whole load of extra options that I do not want (social networking options like friend list, photobucket links, etc...oh and Kudos...GET RID OF KUDOS!!!), it also eraised my entire profile when I simply tried to make one little edit in my 'hobbies' section, wiping out my entire bio and other details that took a long time to type out and I now cannot remember, so cannot replace. In the end I just decided to use the bio space to express my feelings on the matter.
Also, I do NOT appreciate the invasion of my privacy in the form of a link to Google Maps to show everyone in the world where I live! I did NOT ask for this, and to have it forced upon me in such a way, and without warning, strikes me as a severe breach of my trust with the EZ/Yuku team. If people want this in their profiles that's fine, however it should NOT be forced upon everyone, and should CERTAINLY default to not being shown, rather than defaulting to being publicly viewable, as it is now.
The more I see of Yuku, the more I dislike...
lol malarkey
extra options are extra... and optional... If you don't like them, ignore them. Plain and simple Herr Duder.
also lol @ Google Maps. Dude, unless you are located at the geographical center of your city, know one will be able to TRACK YOU DOWN. Hell, mine isn't even at the right city... It defaults to Minneapolis... I'm in a northern suburb.
