The former makes sense enough... I think the same would be theoretically possible under other legal systems.
The latter, I fear, ain't as unusual as we'd like to think.
I know I'm about to sound like an old prude, but: it actually makes a change to see a legal system prepared to stand up for the fact that these irresponsible little brats are doing somethingillegal and do something, rather than just go "Ah well - kids will be kids! What can you do?" and wait until the first requesty for child support comes in.
This is true, and something I'd personally agree with.
This was in 2003, btw... and the 13 year old, as stated in the article, became pregnant.
. . . woah? Was that thing aborted or what? I have yet to hear a word about that besides, "oh and she got pregnant. Anyway..."
