Damn, that's how many songs i lost on my iPod today! A year's collection of music gone in less than 30 seconds...I was listening to a song when my iPod kept skipping songs. I decided to reset the iPod as it's happened before, and when it loads again...NO SONGS!
Now i've taken it pretty well (i shouted a rather explicit expletive and threw it on the bed), but it's still pretty damn harsh if you ask me. It's going to take ages to get it back on there...
Is there any point to this post? Not really, but i just wanted to share my problem.
*Approx.
A lesson learned regarding the reset button...
How many of those songs did you have backed up? Or... can you even back up things on iPod? I don't know of all the craziness Apple does with their HW as opposed to other MP3 players/storage devices.
Wait, hang on a second. You're saying you kept your music collection exclusively on a portable MP3 player, and didn't bother to leave a copy on your hard drive?
Am I supposed to, like, feel sympathetic or something?
Maybe it's just me... But I keep all my music on my PC... I've got so many backups, it's not even funny. Tough cookies dude, but now you know: Back it up!
BOOO! APPLE! BOOOOO! *mauled*
Me and my sister usually share an itunes account, so we keep our music backed up on the computer all the time.
so let that be a lesson learned for you.
I didn't mention it but many of my music (about 80%) is on CD, but unless i'm Mr. Universe than it's unlikely that i can have it all in one place. I do have about 1200 on my computer too, so i can get much of it back, although some i cannot get back since i borrowed a few from the library, sold it on etc. Ironic since i sold about 40 albums the other day. It's just the hassle of spending hours and hours putting the music back onto the hard drive again, which on my poor old laptop takes quite a long time. Especially with the kind of music i listen to...
Goodness knows why i resetted it, but this happened before and a quick reset and it worked fine. Truth be told, the player has been rather erratic for the last few months. Funny it should happen when the warrenty expires.
Saying that, the entire free space gives me a chance to start again fresh as i always had trouble deciding what to delete in order to have newer songs on, so i guess i could always look at it that way. Easier to have lots of room for my new Isobel Campbell CD than spending half an hour deciding if i can live without a 26 minute version of Dazed and Confused...
Cycle: I'm not exactly expecting sympathy from you to be honest Anything less than a cynical remark (even if it's justified - which here i'm not so sure as i have back ups) from you wouldn't be Cycle-like eh?
Ick iPod.
