Well, not really, but many of you acted like it when the news was announced. What I'm talking about is the new cartoon on the WB known as the Loonatics Unleashed. If y'all will remember, it's supposed to be a cartoon about super heroes who happens to be descendants of the Looney Tunes. Well, the show premiered Saturday morning at 10:30 EST, and I'm wondering if anyone gave it a chance, besides me and Neo. If you did, did you like it, and for those who thought they were going to destroy(for lack of a better word) the Looney Tunes as we know it, was it actually as bad as you thought it was going to be? I actually liked it and thought it was pretty cool , and I will be watching it again until it's run(no matter how long or short) ends. Comments.
So I don't know how to describe the show or whether it was good or a nightmare that should be destroyed with bombs at WB's headquarters. (the company not our beloved admin of the same name)
Really, I didn't watch it because I was at this place called "work". ^^
Ah, yes, I know this thing called "work"; I myself was in a place known as sleep but I taped it.
I managed to watch it and after saying I gave it a chance, well, I did. In truth, I didn't think it was horribly degrading, but it's not above average and is merely subpar. I'll make a short list to get my two cents across:
GOOD:
~Danger Duck and Slam was handled pretty much like their Looney Tunes counterpart.
~Danger Duck also contributed to some humors that I enjoyed.
~Some pretty fast action scene, especially around the end and I like fast action scene (spoiled by Teen Titans, heh).
BAD (there's a lot more, I'm afraid):
~The backgrounds look like less depressing Batman Beyond-ish backgrounds. Couldn't think of a new one?
~The story was generally mindless. It felt rushed to me and felt more filler then anything else.
~Corny dialogues. Not the worse I heard, thankfully, but they couldn've been better.
~Viking warriors? They're cool and all, but considering this is the first episode, couldn't they bring out a baddie that would forever be impacted in future episodes? The vikings pretty much come and die in one. I mean, why not familiar villans like Elmer Fudd or Yosemite Sam?
~I still think Ace's black/yellow color combo is fugly.
In short, I'm gonna watch a couple more (as I usually do), before I ultimately decide whether I wanna watch it on the foreseeable future.
With that said, on an unrelated topic, I CANNOT wait for the Viewitful Joe anime! November can't come any sooner!
~Neo
I haven't seen it, but I can't say as it would be very good anyway.
I'll give it a chance, though, if I can stomach the "X-TREME" Attitude long enough.
the words "painful abomination" come to mind.
So I missed nothing?
Hooray! }:D
An opportunity to see it hasn't come anywhere near me yet...
All I know is that Andrew Dickman worked on it... but even Andy can't save a show if it's bad. Which I don't know if it is, or isn't. Because I didn't watch it. Yay.
While recording snippets of Joshua Seth's commercial voiceovers, I happened to watch the premiere of Loonatics. And I'd have to say it was one of the most thoughtless shows I've seen in quite a while. Loonatics is one of those shows where a group of adults in some WB office building were given until Tuesday to come up with an idea. It's what I like to call an "out-of-ass" show. Now, there are some OOA series that are really good, like Jackie Chan Adventures and Teen Titans. But most of the others suck because you can just tell the creators didn't put any heart into it. Atomic Betty and Totally Spies are good examples.

Don't forget Duck Dodgers. 😛

... I like Duck Dodgers...
Anyhow. I only saw the opening and about three seconds of Loonatics. I whispered the phrase ''What the @$&* is this?'' and switched back to FOX. XD
I'll have an opinion on it after I see it for myself. I had orientation to attend last Saturday so I missed all Saturday morning programs. ;p
I watched it but wasn't too impressed. The BG art seemed very bland and the dialogue was very cheesy. Daffy Duck's counterpart was handled best in my opinion, while others fared far worse (Future Bugs was probably the most forgetable/worst dressed of all the heroes). The female boss they report to reminded me very much of Gaia from Captain Planet. The Ice Vikings were lame villains, and I was very surpised that the future Wile E.'s inventions actually worked. That seemed so wrong to me. Coyotes are cutest when they're ineffectual.
In many ways, this reminded me of Teen Titans in terms of what annoyed me about it. But I like the superficial stuff (designs, powers, attitudes) enough to watch it as long as there isn't anything else I definitely want to see on.
Another thing that really bothered me was the art of Loonatics. It didn't flow at all, and the drawings seemed forced. Like they didn't put a whole lot of thought into designing them. Which is most definitely true. >< And the plot? The plot... Ack. It was completely forced, and there was no element of mystery leaving me glued to the couch. Nope. If I wasn't so bent on recording Joshua Seth's commercial voiceovers, I would have gotten up and turned the TV off within the first three minutes.
Meh, I could go on and on about how Loonatics is just another thoughtless TV series slapped together from a basic formula. Yep.
I gave Duck Dodgers a few chances, but it failed to keep me seated, unfortunately. = Just didn't click. There wasn't anything I didn't like, but it just didn't click.
I would have given it a chance if I had some cable. ^__^; I'll probably try to catch it later at a friends house. Although I do admit that I wasn't too excited about the new Looney Toons Super Heroes.
