IF you don't know this by know, then me be the first to tell you,
CN's Adult Swim showed a series called Ranger Smith and the cartoon featured on it was "Boo Boo Runs Wild" and too me it was distasteful.
The way it protrayed all 4 (yes I said 4) characters was asbused and just plain stuped.
Now if you haven't seen it, as a friendly juster, DON'T!
Believe it's not worth it.
But hey that's my opoion
God Bless.
Soccer Mom mentality in full effect here.
John K. has a habit of ticking people off these days, doesn't he? I only saw snippets because I was busy on the comp. Didn't see anything that would raise ire, just some bears going native and some ambiguously homosexual behavior. Par for the course when it comes to anything from Spumco.
No offense. If your crying about a show on Television, you need to do better things with your time. No offense meant or anything, just being blunt here.
I saw it and didn't mind it like I don't mind Birdman: Attorney at Law.
Its just a show.
You should see what they did to The Smurfs.
Papa Smurf x Dead Smurfette.
DISCUSS!
Okay, this short is a few years old I believe, but Adult Swim seems intent on running it every week in the exact same time slot until "you can recite it from memory" according to the bump.
Frankly the only disgrace here is that the short is plain stupid and that Adult Swim shows it over and over is just another sign in my mind that they've jumped the shark (for me anyway, I know they're ratings are doing really well what with the Boondocks and all).
I don't watch Adult Swim...but I do watch Family Guy...which has been and always will make fun of classic and new TV shows...I find it hilarious! Maybe it's because I'm a male in the 18-26 range, but that stuff just make me die laughing...
Like when the FCC censored all shows that might be viewed as offensive...
Or the Walton's parady...Or the Smurfs, Bugs Bunny, Star Trek, Bewitched, Sesame Street (Cookie Monster in rehab for his cookie addiction...)
*misses Harvey Birdman* DARN YOU CNX/TOONAMI
The Flintstone/Godfather parody was hilariously funny.
This was not the first showing of the Ranger Smith short. This was released back about... I think 5 years ago, now? Maybe 6, in 2000, back when it was one of CN's favorite things to do: point out the craziness of the Yogi cartoons that Ranger Smith had like a bajillion different forms throughout the shows life.
The short was freakin' hillarious, if you ask me. It modernizes the show to display how the current day public would view such horridness of a written show. Starts out perfectly, too, with Smith placing all these rediculous rules around the forest, for ANIMALS, to follow... in their own nature and habitat. If you remember, it was like this in the original shows just as well.
Then Yogi and Booboo leave their cave without their hat and tie. "You're INDECENT" Smith says. They're BEARS. It's stupid.
All in all, it's a satire to show the silliness and getting literal with the whole show's dialogue altogether. In other words, exactly what you'd expect from Spumko, (John K.'s animation studio, creator of Ren & Stimpy. Couldn't you tell?) If you don't like it, don't watch it. Don't be a lovejoy and keep your opinion just an opinion. Don't tell people that it's a disgrace or anything and not to watch it.
In my opinion, it was freakin' awesome, and practically hit the nail on the head on how I feel on all those Hanna Barbera shorts from back in the old day, in which is "WTF WHY". I was never ever a fan of their shorts, with the exception of Quick Draw, because he was just "wtf lol".
So there you go. Apparently Adult Swim wants to put this on every night or something. That's fine. It was only ever aired twice (the original airing and then an encore later that night, I believe). Hopefully this means that Spumco and AS are in talks for some sort of original show on making fun of all that old crap. I guess maybe considering it a "pilot" of sorts. If so, that'd be awesome. We need more of that lately, and something that DOESN'T suck as bad as the Ripping Friends (ugh).
Not a fan of Hannah Barbera!?
Sacrelige!
The Flintstones? Jonny Quest?
Um, okay I didn't/don't watch any of their other shows... but uh... yeah.
I don't know, I caught a glimpse of it last night and it seemed "Okay" to me. I prefer Harvey Birdman, really.
I'm not a fan of the Hanna Barbera SHORTS. Yogi Bear, the little dog and his dad, Huckleberry Hound... never cared for em. They always sucked to me.
Flintstones, Jetsons, that's all good for me, though. ;P
You're complaining about a cartoon short.
Please go away, you're making my brain hurt.
