I just saw a movie that I thought was absolutely great.It was American Histoy X.It's about a member of a white supremacist group who winds up in jail for killing two African Americans.He soon learns that his broter Daniel,is going in the same direction that the latter himself took.

This topic isn't truly about this movie but about influence and teenagers and how we are stereotyped as "angry" and "confused".

I myself am a teenager.I'm
(willfinish tmorrow.I have to go to bed.

How does the word "racial" even fit in that sentence?

I think Cycle is saying that the word you're looking for is possibly "racist," not "racial."

or most teens just love the "angst" that the media projects?

I like angst too but in moderation. The media provides too much angst for my own taste in my humble opinion. :p

As for the movie, I have not seen the movie at all. Regarding to movies that touch segregation, the only movie I have seen is Remember the Giants, I think.

The movie is extremely racist,but,that isn't what the movie is about.It's about people,and beliefs,and logic,and brainwash,and influence.Although much of this centers around the racism and racism is what started it I don't believe that the director,producer,etc. wanted you to think thats what it was about.

It was Remember the Titans. ^^

I however have not seen the movie, but my friends have. One actualy thought the uhh swastica scene (hard, and unable to describe) was hilarious while I found it sad. And yes, I heard of the curb scene too. >> I'll watch this movie only when I somehow grow insensitive to violence.

My mum and sister have both seen the movie. We have it on DVD. My sister said it's a brilliant film, but doesn't let me watch it. She says it will give me nightmares, which i think is more than patronising(sp?).
But anyway, the curb scene. Heard about it. Sounds NAAASTYY

I think that it is supposed to be an anti-racist movie. As far as I know, Edward Norton's character is reforming, and he doesn't want his brother to go down the same path, if I remember correctly. It uses racism as a call too oppose racism.

....I think. o.o;;;

I saw part of it when it was showing on tv, but my mom saw the violence in it and made me turn it off. *eyeroll* It is a really powerful movie though, at least the part that I saw. It's not racist, though it's *about* racism. For example, the high school principal who tries to reform Daniel is one of the most dignified and intense roles I've seen for black men in movies. It's rare that you see a serious dramatic role for black men who aren't Denzel Washington.

Oh, if you want a good social commentary about racism, watch Crash, which is in theaters now. It's kind of under the radar, what with Episode III smashing the box office now, but do watch it. It's emotionally intense, but very good.
