regular rock music does nothing for me,when i hear stuff like my chemical romance ang good charolette i wanna vomit. They can't play and they have no ambition to push limits musically. I like stuff like Today is the Day,Napalm death, venom,MAYHEM,goatwhore, dillenger escape plan, and agoraphobic nosebleed. The most extreme cd i have is a 100 song 3 inch it clocks in at less than 20 minutes. Anybody else take a walk on music's wild side?

I'm not really sure what you mean by "push limits musically". Nor do I know what an "extreme CD" is.

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Someone else has heard of the dillinger escape plan and actually likes them.... *hugs* but you forgot belphegor, canibal corpse, an albatross and meshuggah. Shame on you. But hating MCR? Whats wrong with you? My advice is to be more open minded with your taste in music, but it is really good to meet someone that appriecates extreme music.

You call Good Charlotte and Chemical Romance "regular rock"? o.O;;

I'm in the school who say "classic rock = proper rock. Modern rock = New Age Rock"

Give me some Floyd, Rush and to a lesser extent, Stones. Anyday. Failing that I'll have Metallica, Bon Jovi and Aerosmith.

Good... Good...

Although I'm vaguely familiar with some of those bands, I'll stick with Metallica. When Metallica has tired me (the whole bleeding ears, sore neck, hospitalized for self induced whiplash while listening to Whiplash), there's always Rush (BTW, Craig, recently bought 2112), the Blue Man Group, Linkin Park, and my various random mp3s.

I like to write and listen to extreme music like hardrock, metal and music in many other styles.
Do you like hardrock and metal music?

I like all kinds of music. I can't say there's a single genre that I've heard that I can't stand.
Most recently, I bought The Wolf, the Andrew WK CD.

I listen to the odd song, but some of it is just too dull for my tastes - especially the one where the drums just sound like machine guns.

I listen to all kinds of music, but i'm rooted into Indie, Heavy Metal and regular rock. I'd rather listen to some The The personally.

I don't even have a category of music I like. I end up liking like... operatic heavy metal with choir?? That's not even a genre. @___@

like Rammstein, E Nomine, ES Posthumus, Lesium.

.. but nobody else knows what I'm talking about.

That's not X-TREEEEMEEEE!!!! that's just weird.

its called industrial metal and i listen to it as well... frankly i dont care much for labels, bands i listen to, The Who, Rammstein, Skankin' Pickles, SoaD, Carl Orff, The Violent Femmes... i skip around a bit. I care not for country, and I HATE the radio.Anything they play on 89X *very popular canadian radio station pretending to broadcast out of michigan* is crap for one simple reason. They play the same 50 or so songs everyday for month after month no matter what DJ is on, hell except for the occasional induction of a new song to their predetermined playlists, its all the same. Also, they claim to be a new rock alternative, which they are not, they just play sub-par popular rock groups*with occasional good bands* and alternative rock mixed with bad rap and hippity hoppity. It isnt an alternative to rock if 90% of what you play is rock.

EDIT: i got really off topic...back to my question, what do you define EXTREME rock as?

"I end up liking like... operatic heavy metal with choir??"

You mean Nightwish?

As for me, lately I've been getting into my various metals quite a bit. Unfortunately, my metal CD collection is rather small (mainly due to lack of funds) and mostly consists of heavy and thrash metal, la Metallica and Slayer. Opeth and Cannibal Corpse are about as extreme as my records get, though I do have a few random samples of various death metal and gore grind bands such as Necrophagist and Cephalic Carnage on my machine that I've downloaded from band websites.

As far as metal goes, I tend to prefer it lighter, really - thrash, traditional heavy and the odd bit of power (I really want DragonForce's Sonic Firestorm). That's not to say I hate all extreme metal. On the contrary, I do like a bit of the stuff every now and then (going to see Cephalic Carnage in July; heard they put on an awesome live show), but it can get boring, like bcdcdude said. That said, I haven't had much experience of black metal and melodeath.

Oh, and Sakaki, I recently picked up 2112 too. o.o Except Saz pinched it.

When you guys get to "Speedcore" music, just give me a ring.

(BTW: Speedcore music plays at a 750bpm, it may sound crazy but man is it ludicrous!)

Yeah, kinda like Nightwish. I have their Phantom of the Opera remix. I've started downloading Opeth, I'm not sure if I like them.

To Espio: yeah, Rammstein is industrial. I don't think that E Nomine, Lesium and E.S. Posthumus are.

www.esposthumus.com/ E.S. Posthumus has free clips. Check out Pompeii, their most famous one, which was the music for the Spider-man trailer. It's that bombastic classical choir music (like Carmina Burana) that's kinda metal, but more ambient and less "pounding and screaming" than Rammstein :) . Best I can explain. They're rather famous because their music has been in several movie trailers, and countless AMVs.

www.lesiem.nm.ru/ They're a German choir group. Their hit song Fundamentum (which is available in mp3 on their site), is in Latin with church bells and organs, about the founding of the Roman empire. It's awesome.

I can tolerate most forms of music, and nearly every genre has at least a couple artists or songs I like. Even country. However, there's two kinds of music I absolutely do not listen to, without exception: polka and death metal.

well if you don't listen to death metal Cycle, tis a good thing this topic is about extreme music (i know, there are many similiarities between the two)

love meshuggah,NIN,leng t'che,cannibal corpse,marduk,
SUNN O))),dark funeral,Von,autopsy, fetus eaters, bad acid trip,s.o.a.d,Necro(extreme hip-hop),fantomas,merzbow,vader,damnation,morbid angel, gut, rottrevore, machetazo, lord gore, and countless others. And for the ignorant person who said "i need bands named after body fluids and poisions because i'm extreme!!!" you have no idea about how much effort goes into playing this type of music and unlike rock on the radio these guys do it out of love for the music because there is no money in this. And yes i am a black/death/gore purist because there is nothing worse than fakes watering down the music i love.

First off, Rob, they were saying that to make fun of people who blindly follow tastes of music like you (or at least like yours).

Secondly, any form of music that requires actual talent (which is most of them. Even some pop.) requires an equal amount of talent, effort, and love for the music. Sure, they may love the billions of dollars they hoard in, but without enjoying the music they would just quit now and live happily on what they've already earned.

Thirdly, any form of music can be "watered down" and faked. Even black/death/gore rock.

Fourth, S.O.A.D? Are we thinking the same S.O.A.D? The political and very much NOT death/pestilence/famine S.O.A.D?

EDIT: And if you were curious, my mp3 choices before and after this post were MC Chris - DQ Blizzard and Ozzy Osbourne - Stayin' Alive.

if i was a Black/death purist i'd love S.O.A.D for being really heavy and pretty extreme and you have to admitt sak, that S.O.A.D are a pretty heavy band, for example: "know" "suite pee" "prison song" etc..

They may be heavy, true. But if being heavy was all it took to qualify for the genre, you'd probably like alot of the stuff you claim to hate. Any crappy rock band can sound heavy.

It was more of a general statement then directed to someone, I think.
