August 11, 2005 - Now this is exciting news! Disney has just announced that they will release 3-disc box sets of late '80s/early '90s animated television series "DuckTales" and "Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers" on November 8th! The few details available now have just been posted in a DVD Fact Sheet. The sets (which will each carry a $34.99 SRP) will mark only the second time a Disney TV cartoon has come to DVD in multi-disc format. We'll have more on these as soon as it comes in.

This info was culled from an issue of Video Business magazine, not exactly a publication that goes around spreading baseless rumours. Toss in the impending release of the second Gargoyles DVD box set and we're looking at very Happy Holidays indeed.
Alright! Now we just need Darkwing Duck and Tale Spin and all will be right with the universe.
*Awaits Dubsie's screams of triumph and joy*
Well, the Gargoyles DVD is EXCELLENT as far as series DVDs go and I know that they'll definately be able to pull alot more tricks out of their hats for Duck Tales.
Directors commentary on Gargoyles eps 1-5 was very very well done, so I have high high HIGH hopes for these and shall certainly be throwing money away on them
Time for the celebratory cabbage patch!
*Cabbage patch, cabbage patch, cabbage patch like ya just can't stop!*
Excellent news. Disney is definately wising up to the fact that there's a lot of nostalgic people just waiting to buy old shows (something Hasbro and the like realised a while back).
Chip and Dale is a must buy for me, with Ducktales being a little less of a priority (but only little mind you. Like an angstromth or something).
As long as this gets a region 2 release I'm sold.
Needless to say, I've been waiting for Rescue rangeres/Ducktales DVD releases for a loooong time. 😀
Sweet! I hope this inspired Disney to release Power Rangers, Digimon and SATam DVD box sets. It would make very happy .
*beats WB to screams of joy*
TVshowsondvd.com had the same info. When they e-mailed me this morning, I surprised everyone around me in the office by jigging in my seat
I won't be waiting for the region 2 release, that's for sure.
Now to join Hyper Shadow X in keeping my fingers crossed for Darkwing & TaleSpin...
DW
They should include the Finnish theme for DuckTales, with music video.
"YOUR ARMS ARE BROOOOOOKEEEEEEN!"
LMAO!!!!
Yes! Finland theme song > All others.
YOUR SCHOOL IS STUPID! YOUR SCHOOL IS BAHA! UNCUT! OOO!
I quite liked the French theme tune myself. Though who on earth translated Huey, Dewey and Louis as "Fifi, Riri et Loulou" I will never know. I feel the nephews might want to sue...
Mind you, Tic et Tac Rangers du Risque is not much better...
DW
"en suivant Fifi, Riri et Loulou, ooh ooh
Nous voulons entrer dans la bande a Picsou, ooh ooh!"
I wondered why Dubs didn't post it, he found it out from someone else. I'll be waiting for the moment I see the rescue ranger one on any website to order it.
If we see a Talespin DVD release you can bet I'll be on it as well.
~Rico
Interesting. I LOVED Ducktales when i was a kid, but 10 years of not seeing it creates rose-tinted specs, so i'm not sure if i would enjoy it anymore. I hope that wouldn't be the case though . If it's cheap in the UK i'd give it a go maybe!
Now the most difficult challenge for me: The Ducktales DVD or the Super Mario cartoons DVD...
~Neo
Now you know what to look for. >_>
o.o
*preorders*
~Rico (27 bucks poorer)
Holy.....
*dies of happiness*
This is so awesome. Now all I need is the money. ^^;
*spazzes out*
Oh, man...need...MONEY! MUST...BUY...NOW. STOP...talking like...William...Shantler...
~Neo
my only consolation that we'll be getting it later then america, so i might be able to save up some spare money for this. *bounces with glee anyway!*
Is it wrong of me to have practically drooled over those pictures?
I'm waiting for my website to list both DuckTales & Chip n Dale so I can preorder them at the same time.
Cannot wait, though November is going to be *very* expensive: these two, Knight Rider season 3, Count Duckula, Shadow and Harry Potter at the cinema...
DW
EDIT: OK, November just got less expensive. Universal have pushed back Knight Rider to March :'(
DuckTales, woo-hoo! That's awesome news (plans on buying DVD and giving it a place of honor next to her old Treasure of the Lost Lamp VHS)
I don't know about the US, but the UK had a DVD release of Treasure of the Lost Lamp a year or so. It's what made me dare hope that Disney might possibly have bought a clue...
DW
Ducktales definitly ruled, but they need to release Darkwing Duck on DVD before I celebrate.
Then you better hope these sets sell big, if not modestly. We won't see Talespin and/or Darkwing Duck if they don't.
Tell your friends. Tell your blood enemies. Tell that 68 year-old lady down the block with the really bad smell "BUY THESE OR I'LL KIDNAP YOUR FOURTEEN CATS. THAT'S RIGHT... MITTENS, HORATIO, STARBUCK, LONG JOHN PUSS, POOKIE, RAY-RAY... ALL GONE!"
F.O.W.L. commands it.
Ok, where's my KP box sets?
*shudders at the idea of more Kim Possible DVDs*
Sorry, but that TV show (although not in the league of horror that includes Schnookums and Meat and Pepper Ann) does not grab my attention. It's DVD releases of KP and Recess that have been driving me nuts, thinking "Where's the decent, old school Disney Afternoon stuff gone??".
I suppose what it boils down to for me is that, without satellite / cable TV, Chip 'n' Dale & DuckTales don't appear to have been rerun since my first year at university. That's about 5 or 6 years now. Whereas I can see Kim Possible (should I wish to) every darn weekend.
*crosses fingers that these sets do well enough to encourage the release of Darkwing & TaleSpin*
DW
I need my "BoNKERS"! ;___; Eeeee! It's so close to my birthday, too. *evil plotting* I'm so planning on getting both of them. That and a Sailor Moon S DVD series.
Yay, another Bonkers fan! I thought I was the only one
I can do without the short cartoons, but I can't get enough of Lucky and Miranda. Not to mention the odd cameo from Darkwing

Nope, you sure ain't, DW, I liked Bonkers too; hmm, I think I laughed quite a bit when they had the Louse on it.(or am I thinking of another Disney toon)

Man, I wish I could've watched it; although with my memory, I could have and forgot about it.
I'm fairly sure there was a louse character as a villain on the show, yeah.
DW turned up in a Bonkers dream sequence at least once, supposedly giving Bonkers the equivalent of an Emmy or something, but mostly using the occasion to grumble about why he never got one...
I think my two favourite episodes are the one where Bonkers' old director does a publicity stunt involving kidnapping various cast members and the one where Miranda & Bonkers are guarding a dangerous criminal and Bonkers gets hit by truth serum.
Too bad I only have a couple of episodes on tape. Don't think the UK ever got a Bonkers release (though Italy and Germany apparently did). We only got 2 Darkwing tapes too - how badly done to are we?
