That reminds me of a local chain of used car dealerships that sing to the tune of "Hey Sexy Lady" by Shaggy in their commercials.
Bah, damn computer can't load either of 'em.
Head On is (currently) the single most annoying commerical in existence that I know of. I scramble for the remote every time it threatens to start playing.
I still don't understand how they could possibly think that's an effective advertising campaign... I've never once seen anything that explains WHAT it even does exactly. Only how to apply it. Even the new stupid ones with people supposedly complaining about the commercials still don't explain anything. >_<
The new ones are bad, but, dude, HeadOn is the most genius marketing thing in a long time.
HeadOn is a placebo. It is 99.999% wax. It costs like $10 for a $.05 stick of wax.
They never directly say that it's medicine. They just say, "Apply directly to the forehead."
Which people do. Millions of people. They're making (I estimate) a $9.95 profit on every single HeadOn stick sold; and millions have been sold. They make no claims in the commercial. They make no promise. They sell no medicine. They give you the product and tell you to put it on your forehead, and millions do. It works on the placebo effect, so users DO have a reduction of headaches or total elimination of them. So, people swear it works. So, MORE people buy it.
Brilliant.
Note: Now that you've read this, you won't be fooled by the placbo...sorry for the spoiler. 😛
Head-On Exec: FOILED AGAIN! *runs off to sell a 2 buck bottle of water. WATER for gods sake*
As a filk writer, I actually respect the Halifax film campaigns for trying - but this just totally backfired on me.
Surely the target demographic'd think of it as cringe-inducing and anyone older just wouldn't recognise the original song in the first place?
This one made me go "RRRFMFWHATTHEF***". A long, long time ago. The sad part is, I've seen the top commercial on a different program XD
Gawd.
Sometimes I hate Alabama XD
OMG I know where the Flea Market is. O_O
(lived in Montgomery for most of his life)
Still, in terms of commercials, nothing tops this (Language warning in the comments section).
I found a list of the Top 50 Greatest Local Commercials. The one I mentioned above made #14. A couple other places in my area, Empire Carpeting and Pawn USA made the list, but I havn't seen those ads before.
Oh no. EAGLEMAN!!! He made number 7 on that list! Although the video they show seems to be like the Funimation redub of my memories. I need to see if there is the version I will always remember, the one with the correct stresses of the words.
Cherish always the "I've got SOMETHING for YOOOOOU!!!! *BOOOONG*"
Although I hate to admit it, I did a recreation with my sister when we were much younger of that commercial. I was the eagle. ^_^ Didn't have costumes though.
