A mother cat in China has adopted a mouse, letting it join her family of newborns.
The cat was brought into a children's clothing store to catch mice, reports Yanzhao City News.
Ten days ago, the cat gave birth to five kittens.
"She stays in the box all day long, taking care of her babies, but three days ago, my colleague found a small mouse playing with the kittens," said a spokesperson for the store in Shijiazhuang city.
"The cat was protecting the mouse, and would become alert if anyone came too close."
The store staff threw the mouse out once, but immediately the cat ran to bring it back and let it play with her kittens.
Experts say it's quite exceptional, but that maybe the cat became lenient after becoming a mother.
Ensue "awww" now.
Aww is right, but this isn't the first time something like this has happened. I'm just to lazy to find any of it.
0.o; I read something like this in a newspaper two days ago... a cat befriending a mouse instead of eating it. Trying to get to grips with this new 'cat and mouse' thing.
It's normal for female mammals who are pregnant/just gave birth to adopt other beings that their maternal instinct associates with "cuddly little thing that needs protection".
It's happened many times before with humans, too, feral children and all that. n_n
This has all the makings of an epic Lifetime drama.
He's My Child starring Neko-chan and introducing Mickey D. Mouse as the abadoned street urchin she fights to protect.
I've read years ago that a cat adopted four baby squirrels
Once I read that squirrels ate a dog
Coincidence? Perhaps not...
You do know, that cat is waiting for the moment to strike.
Because when that moment comes, God help us all.

it was in the 'picture post' part of a newspaper, i know this because i saw it too. ^^ the mouse seemed to have discovered that the best way to make freinds with a cat is to give it a ball of paper attached to some string.
i know of a large rabbit that once took on a cat, apparently the rabbit left the cat missing some impressive chunks of fur.

Come on, we all know she's just fattening them up. =P
AWWWWW! Hey, do you think that's Tom and Jerry off spring? (LAME JOKE)
Awe man, in China?
Friends or enemies, it don't matter. In a couple of month's time, they're ALL food. =3
