After like four years, my need for more Tai has been fulfilled! Digimon the fourth movie will be airing on Toon Disney (Jetix) Friday, August 5th, at 7 p.m., 6 central.

I wish I could have seen my face when I saw the preview just less than an hour ago. I almost literally ran screaming from the den to IM a friend and update my LiveJournal. Then I came here. ^_^

I is so happy! I'm not sure if there are any Digimon fans left here, but there were when I was an active forumer back in 2000-2001. Here's hoping that someone else cares enough to join in the jubilation.

I'm ecstatic that they're finally bringing the fourth movie to America, but at the same time I'm terrified that they'll screw over the plot like they did with the first three movies. *crosses fingers* Toon Disney headquarters will find several javelins hurled through their windows if they dare to screw with the plot, courtesy of the Shoe. =D

Oh yeah, and in the Japanese version, there's a priceless sound effect when Daisuke (Davis) slams into a metal pole. I hope they keep that part in.

Still a Digimon fan. Still writing fanfiction about Digimon.

Also, this is actually a bit of old news; the Digimon Encyclopedia broke this story a couple of weeks ago. Still, thumbs-up!!

More Tai?

The movies are still set in the first/second series?

If so I wouldn't mind having a look. Series 1/2 were fun to watch and had some decent characters. But I totally lost interest during the third season.

Yep. It's set during the Season 1/2 (aka 'Adventures' for the otaku) timeline of Digimon. Specifically, soon after the end of Season 2. It's sort of like a sequel to the movie 'Our War Game', in which Omnimon toasted Diaboromon.

Yes, I've been hearing about this one for a while now and will be watching it when aired.

Here's hoping they dub the Digimon Tamers movie. I'm looking forward to seeing the "Runaway Express" one since it deals with one of my fave human characters.

The first season was the best of the lot, particularly the Myotismon and Dark Master arcs.

Season 2 started out good, sank somewhere around the Destiny Stones arc, picked back up with the Demon Corps, moved UP again in the battle with MaloMyotismon (him Vs. ALL of the partners' digivolved forms? ROCKIN!)...and then it sank during the final episode.

MaloMyotismon...MOST. ANTI-CLIMACTIC FINISH. EVER.

What happened? The UK never finished season 2, it cut out about 75% through (happens alot)

But, I highly doubt anything can be any more anti-climactic than Teen Titans season 3 and 4's finales.

MaloMyotismon was defeated by HAPPY THOUGHTS.

I'm not kidding. His body was destroyed by the happy, hopeful thoughts of children, and his spirit was destroyed in a rather anti-climactic showing of Imperialdramon's Mega Crusher attack.

But still...HAPPY THOUGHTS.

Let's stick with saying how incredibly AWESOME series 1 is. And 02 is cool, too, but it comes nowhere near the first series.

And yeah, Digimon Tamers totally lost my interest. Digimon, sadly, has gone the way of the Power Rangers, it seems...

Did anyone else cry when Wizardmon died? How about Wormmon? ;___;

YOSH!

But I totally lost interest during the third season.

I think I'm one of the few who truly appreciated the third season. And when I meant truly appreciate, I meant Season Three is my all-time favorite. I particuarly loved the more darker tone (without making it all extreme or any stupid crap like that) and I thought it handled great character development with the best animation I've seen in all the four Digimon anime I've watched. Of course, this is just my humble opinion. I just want this one particular season out on DVD NOW.

What happened? The UK never finished season 2, it cut out about 75% through (happens alot)

What the others say. But basically I was disappointed on the later half of season 2. After Ken's past was revealed in "Genesis of Evil", I believed Season 2 just went downhill with it's constant jumbling around and random crap happening. It made it my least fave Digimon season.

...with the best animation I've seen in all the four Digimon anime I've watched.

I thought Frontier had very nice animation compared to all the others. Tamers was nice, too, but not enough to capture my attention. 02 had by far the worst animation.

Well, we all have our own opinion. I just felt Tamers used more bolder colors and more color mixes and stuff to create more eye candy, and I especially LOVED the eyes on the kids. It's very hypnotizing. Especially Rika's.

I was hypnotized by Henry's eyes. Ahhhh...Henry...

Yes, I have to agree with you on the colors and stuff. Tamers did away with the signature watercolor backgrounds, though. That makes me sad. :(

I have to say that one of the reasons Season 02 was lost on me was because of the lack of color. I mean, Season 01 was like a RAINBOW, especially during the Devimon/Etemon sagas. The locales were just BEAUTIFUL.

Dude, animation-wise, 02 had a lack of everything. XD Did you notice at the end of the Emporer saga when Kimeramon flew upwards, they just made the sprite smaller? Stinky.

Digimon Adventure owns my soul. And so does Tai, of course. See sig. =3 I've got this huge emotional attachment to the Adventure series, and not just because of the bishounen. I don't quite know what it is that makes me so attached to Adventure.

Digimon fan here.

I think I'm one of the few who liked Digimon Tamers. I rather enjoyed the darker plot. Unlike in Seasons 1 and 2, when a Digimon died, they stayed dead.

I loved the way Digivolution was animated. It actually showed the physical change from Rookie to Champion, unlike in the first season where the Champion forms simply appeared out of nowhere. I also loved the Biomerge Digivolution. A Digimon and its human partner joining together into one body.

Plus, Calumon was just too cute. And we also got to see all of the Four Guardians (my favorite was Zhuqiamon, the phoenix god).

The Tamers digivolutions were pretty cool, I have to admit, but I couldn't get over how much the music sucked compared to Adventure and 02. Seriously, the theme song took a nose-dive.

Tamers also took away from the crest thing. :( Adventure was awesome because there were specific qualities one could identify with. 02 downplayed it, and Tamers wiped it out completely. *cries*

I guess I'm just too much of an old-schooler. I also have a fierce loyalty to the pokmon red and blue days.

Shame it isn't being aired in the UK. Oh well, I can probably download it from somewhere when it comes out.

I have the movie subbed on this computer, so it's not too much of a big deal, but it will still be intresting to see it dubbed.

Oh, and Izzy > all. 😀

Yeah, I've had it subbed for a good year, along with the other seven movies. XD

Yes, Izzy = Love! I have Mona Marshall's home phone number...but that's another story. =3

YES! Another Tamers fan! You make a point which I agree with. I like that Digimon actually died and stayed dead, it not only gave more emotional time for me, but it seriously developed Jeri, even if she turned all angst. Not to mention I'm not such a huge fan of cheap deaths.

The Tamers digivolutions were pretty cool, I have to admit, but I couldn't get over how much the music sucked compared to Adventure and 02. Seriously, the theme song took a nose-dive.

I didn't like all four of the theme songs, but I remember how friggin' good I thought the background music were, especially during the last episodes.

Oh, and Izzy > all. 😀

I wuv Izzy. The dude's such an adorable guy. Gettin' all weepy in that one scene where his parents confessed of his true origin. Then again, I cried at least once in all four seasons (I'm not joking).

The background music is freaking BEAUTIFUL! Especially in 01! Sometimes I just close my eyes and listen to the show, paying attention only to the tear-jerking orchestra music in the background...

I've even made sound clips of it to listen on my iPod. =3 My favorite is in the second-to-last episode of 01, when they announce their crests and there's a whole string of digivolutions. Huzzah! Awesome sound effects there, and it gets more and more nostalgic as it works up to "COURAGE!" Heheh...cheesy. *tear*

You have music for it? Lucky you. But yes, I agree with you generally. I just wish Season Four's music in general lived up to the other three, although their digivolution/Power Ranger-ish change music was pretty good.

Tai was my fave of the bunch in Season 1 and 2 as well. I have never seen all of Season 3 to really comment on it though I have seen basically all of Season 4.

Thanks for the notice about the movie. 🙂

HUZZAH! A fellow Tai fan! *dances around Red in circles*

Dude, I have this strange obsession with Tai... I came across Joshua Seth's phone number, and called it. AND HE CALLED ME BACK! Wow! I got to talk to him for almost three minutes! Ever since then, I've wanted to meet him in person. And dude! I just found out yesterday that Joshua Seth is a guest at Realms con in Corpus Christi! That's only 40 minutes away from where I live! My gah! It's too perfect!

*dies*

Oh my God, this is awful. I'm watching the dub right now. They messed up the dialogue, added speech where there was none, and changed minor details of the plot.

And...*gasp*...they changed some of the old voice actors! JOSHUA SETH IS NOT THERE! NOOOOOOO! Joshua Seth is half the reason I was so excited! I guess it was difficult to track down all the old voice actors after four years...

The only improvement from the Japanese version is the music. They used the sucky Frontier theme song, but all the background music is many many times better than the nearly non-existant Japanese background music.

Joshua Seth... Why?... At least Michael Reisz, Matt's voice, is still there. And all the 02 characters are the same.

Dude, I can't believe this... It's painful to watch.

I'll have to judge it meself when I see it tomorrow (I don't have Toon Disney), although I have to completely judge it based on story since I did not watch the original japanese version.

I can't compare it to the original, but yeah, I was upset over the "new" Tai voice. I loved the original too. ^_^

No spoilers here, it wasn't too bad overall though.

Watched it...was pretty good. Now, some of my two cents (If you choose not to be spoiled, walk away):

~On the subject of Tai's new voice, it's not bad. He certainly acts well, but he cannot fill that voic that the original actor has.
~Is it just me or did Sora get a new voice, too? She sounds more valley girl then that mature girl I knew and loved. I'm not complaining much on her since she had very little lines to begin with.
~Poor Joe. He gets little screentime in the first Diabormon movie, and yet again in here. Although he does play a bit more longer role, but poor Joe. Same for Mimi who don't get much role either.
~All those previous voices just brings WAVES of nostaglia on me, even if Davis is as annoying as ever (although he was very tolerable here).
~There's something about the jumbly feel of the animations that I like so much of it as I did in the previous Digimon movie I watched.
~KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN! IZZZZZZZZZY! My two fave Digimon Season 1/2 characters! EEEEEEEEEEE!!!
~What's the deal using Digimon Frontier's theme song? I don't care if it's the same franchise, Digimon 1 and 2 and Digimon 4 are COMPLETELY different. I hope the Tamers movies don't suffer the same fate.
~I notice Angewoman and Angemon are MUCH bigger then usual. Also, I like Angewoman's rant on how men don't stop for direction. Hilarious. Both my sis and I were laughing.
~My sister would LOVE that Matt keychain. Pretty cute.

I think that's about it. Not much to speak of. Overall, a decent movie.

i just watched it like... 4 minutes ago. it was allright.

i used to be a huge digimon freak, but when season 3 was over i lost interest.

my biggest complaint was the ending, it was just... "yay, we beat the bad guy!the end. no celebration, no questions, nothing.

-This new dude they snagged for Tai's voice did try to sound like Joshua Seth, but failed, though not miserably. In fact, his very first line sounds just like Joshua Seth.
-Colleen O'Shaughnessy is the original voice actor of Sora. She did indeed have a very annoying voice change... ><
-Indeed, poor Joe... He really deserves more.
-Davis's voice actor was probably the easiest to get, because if you haven't noticed, his VA is the announcer for ALL of Toon Disney's ads.
-Unfortunately, this awesome animation style stops with the fourth movie. From the fifth movie onward, it's regular TV-style animation.
-Ken and Izzy, thankfully, kept their original VA's. I swooned when I heard Ken's voice, and Izzy's VA (Mona Marshall) brought LOTS of nostalgia. I'm glad they kept Mona.
-Digimon 02 + Frontier music = ANGRY SHOE
-Not sure why Angemon and Angewomon had a sudden size increase. The short discussion about asking for directions was added in the English dub. In the Japanese version, they are silent. In fact, the English dub added several little jokes that weren't there originally. For example, when Izzy said "I'll trash it; the animation's bad." Wasn't there originally.
-The Matt keychain is there because Davis borrowed the cellphone from his sister, Jun, who is a total Matt freak. They completely changed the dialogue in the English dub. In the Japanese version, Davis answers the cellphone, only to hear a message from himself to Jun. He groans and says "I shouldn't have borrowed the cellphone from my sister."

I've seen the original way too many times...

Oh yeah, and the part when Davis runs right into the pole is barely noticeable in the English dub. In the original, it makes a very entertaining PING sound, and Davis writhes away in pain. They added speech there in the English dub. Gah, that was my favorite part, and they ruined it.

I'd have to say, the ending was indeed disappointing. The whole movie didn't have much of a plot, even in the Japanese version. But I'm too much of a digimon nut to be angry over that.

It took me a while to figure out you were responding to me. Now, my two cents back...

-Davis's voice actor was probably the easiest to get, because if you haven't noticed, his VA is the announcer for ALL of Toon Disney's ads.

I've said it again, as much as I felt great to hear Davis' regular voice, he's still an annoying git to me. I can tolerate him about as much as I can tolerate Ash Ketchum (and people who knows me know my feelings for THAT guy). It made me said Davis' voice was annouce in Tamers...

-Unfortunately, this awesome animation style stops with the fourth movie. From the fifth movie onward, it's regular TV-style animation.

I know.

Well, the Digimon dub tends to do that a lot, add in humor. The same happens to the manga as well. In truth, I don't really have a problem with it. I like it when they poke fun. The only time I wouldn't really like it if any shows (not just Digimon) used humor on a sad, depressing scene or anything that seems inappriorate for humor.

-The Matt keychain is there because Davis borrowed the cellphone from his sister, Jun, who is a total Matt freak.

Ahhh, I especially loved the part when Jun goes ALL the way to the forest just to meet Matt and in the end, he had to take her home. Heh heh...

^^; Um, actually, the fourth movie is a few years old. They only just now got around to dubbing it. And what a horrible dub it is... *cries*

I must admit, I always have enjoyed their little bits of humor. It's very cute. I liked it when Whamon let the kids ride in his mouth, "but no tickling!"

Ah, yes, I do love that episode. I have it on my compy. ^^ I like how Matt offers TK his college money in exchange for accompanying Jun home. XD And of course, I like every moment Tai speaks. :spin I'm a hopeless fangirl.
