Nov. 13, 2005

WWE is deeply saddened by the news that Eddie Guerrero has passed away. He was found dead this morning in his hotel room in Minneapolis. Eddie is survived by his wife Vickie and daughters Shaul, 14, Sherilyn, 9, and Kaylie Marie, 3.

WWE. Com News Story

Thats the official line from the WWE. He is believed to have had a heart failiure while preparing for a show. Vince McMahon and Chavo Guerrero Jr. are to give a press confrence at 12:45 CT.

I can't believe this has happened to be honest. Eddie was a great wrestler and a great man. I wish to give my coldelences to the Guerrero family at this time.

I believe it's time I make a rare appearance to address this.

As everyone probably knows, I'm a wrestling fan. I grew up loving it, I still love it, even if it's not as good as it used to be. I have dreams of being a professional wrestler. Eddie Guerrero was... no, he is, one of my absolute favorites. I idolized the man. Here was a man who overcame addiction and got his life on the right track. Here was a man with a wife, children, friends, and relatives--people he deeply cared about; people who be hardly got to see because of his will and desire to entertain. Eddie Guerrero was more than just a wrestler. He was a hero--in my eyes, and in the eyes of many others.

Rest in peace, Eddie.

EDIT: I found a really good video tribute of him that's worth checking out. It can be found here.

Amen, Wesu.

Eddie was one of rare performers that you could watch at any point of his career, and he would be thoroughly entertaining. I'm partial to his early matches in ECW with many other future WWE stars who were still early in their careers.

My best memory of Eddie was in Owen Sound when Smackdown made a visit up there. OS is a fairly small town of about 20,000, and the building wasn't anywhere near full... maybe 1,000 people... pretty small house show considering the lineup of wrestlers they brought up. And I remember watching a number of wrestlers really not showing that much enthusiasm towards such a small crowd; But I remember as he circled the ring and people slapped him on the back, he actually stopped beside a little boy that I knew from my town who made the trip, sitting front row.. And Eddie actually stopped, his only stop around the entire ring, and put up his hands (slightly lower) so that the kid could slap them.

He was just a really remarkable performer and personality for someone of his calibur and status. A lot of wrestlers are made icons, and their mindsets completely change. But his attitude and the way he turned his life around from alcohol is one of the best sports stories I've yet to see.

Condolences to the Guererro family and all of his fans... what a terrible loss this is.

Rest in peace man.

Even though I could never forgive you for what you did to Lita (^_~), you were a favourite and your presence will be missed.

I found out this morning just as I woke up and turn on the TV (not a good wake up call). I'm sorry that this happened. Eddie was one of the best whestlers they had that didn't totally rely on some of those fake punches, chairs, and blood (at least until the end of his matches) in his matches to keep them going. He will be missed.

Indeed. He was one of my favorite wrestlers. I was startled, to say the least, when I first heard about this...

Wow, I've not seen wrestling in a long time....LONG time. But I remember him so very well.

It is a true shame to hear him gone, he was one of the greats....

Even after watching tonight's tribute (which we have to remember is only half over thanks to Friday)...

I... the words are so impossible to form. It just boggles your mind. And I even remember 6 1/2 years ago when we lost Owen Hart, I was watching that night. I almost dare say that this one hit harder. And I just wish that after seeing everyone at their best for Eddie tonight, we would see people pour their hearts out more for the people they love while they're still here.

I knew him in all of the Big 3. And I personally hope he and Owen are up there in the heavens looking down... and saving a seat for us ringside.

Of all the WWE guys, He was the one even my mother loved the most...

This was a tragedy in the rawest form and I feel sorry for all his friends and family.

Chris Benoit was in tears...I've never seen somebody as humbled and upset as benoit was last night.

This'll leave ripples in the pond for years. :(

Goodbye and God bless, you rudo heel bastard. We'll miss your lying, cheating and stealing ways. You were one of the best of all-time and the industry is forever lessened by your loss.

I had seen him live 3 times. Once at a house show in 2003 with Rhyno vs Benoit & Tajiri, Smackdown with Kurt Angle vs Chavo Jr & Chavo Classic & the match when it went off the air vs Chavo, & Judgement Day 2005 vs Rey Mysterio. I posted a tribute for him on my blog. I was there during the tapings of Raw/Smackdown last Sunday. It was truly an emotional night. Thank you for the memories Eddie. I'll never forget you.
