Pretty simple topic. If you use Firefox{or any other broswer that supports extensions}, what extensions do you use and why. I use:

- Flashblock. I hate those bloody flash ads that don't stay still.

- SmoothWheel. It was reccomended to me, I think.

- NoScript. I suppose you could call me too careful, or just paranoid.

- IE tab. I don't remember why I installed it, but I haven't gotten rid of it because it sees use occasionally.

- Adblock plus. Self explanatory.

As a side-note, does anyone else have IEspell? I figure that's a rare thing to have; it's an IE extension of sorts that, as far as I'm aware, is rather unheard of.

One last thing...what exactly is the appeal of FlashGot? When I first got Firefox I installed it because it was the most popular addon, but soon got rid of it before really trying it out.

Some Firefox Add-Ons I use:

Tab Mix Plus: I cannot imagine using Firefox without it.

FoxyTunes: Ditto.

Full Screen Homestar Runner: Ditto. Well, not really. But it's nice.

I have the following:

Adblock - Duh
Adblock Filterset.G Updater - very useful
DownThemAll! - awesome download manager
Reveal - Pretty useful, gives you a graphical representation of your History, which you can summon with F2. And as a bonus, you get a nifty magnifying utility too.
VideoDownloader - lets you save stuff off of sites like YouTube and so forth. Need I say more?
AllPeers - this is an awesome idea. It's a little like BitTorrent torrent publishing for dummies. And also amongst people you know only. Basic premise is, you install it and register (free of course), and then you have the ability to share large amounts of files with other people you know who have it at once. Faster than IM transfers as well =D (Oh, and let me know if you get that one, I'd be happy to share things with folks. D)

And that's the lot. I've also used FasterFox before.

I can't imagine using Firefox without NoScript. I also have Foxytunes and IEView, which I don't use very often but still find quite useful. I used to have Adblock, but I think I deleted it because it seemed useless after getting NoScript.

And I had the fullscreen Homestar too, but I got rid of it because it made the cartoons laggy as hell. Well, I tried to for a while, but even after removing it from the extensions list it just refused to go away until the next FF update.

  • DOM Inspector and Talkback - pretty certain those were built in.
  • Google Toolbar - quick and easy searching, but unlike the built-in one you can specify what KIND of search. Plus the "go up a directory" button is handy for removing parts of a URL without having to do it manually.
  • IE Tab - YTMND. 'Nuff said, really; I don't have much use for it otherwise.
  • chatZilla - at one point, it looked like I would need an IRC interface. So, I downloaded it. Never used it, though I'm not going to get rid of it just in case I might need it.
  • Forecastfox - It's going to lightly rain on Friday morning.
  • FireFTP - no more dragging up My Computer to do FTP transactions with Comcast!

    At home:
    FFXI Finder
    FFXI Skillchain Calculator
    FFXI Mapper
    Vana'diel Clock
    FoxyTunes

At work, all of the same, plus VideoDownloader, AdBlock Plus, and some thing I can't remember the name of that gives all of your tabs the design of that pages background image.

You know what my favorite Firefox add-on is? Nothing!

Because every time I install Firefox onto my work computer (A PowerMac G5 running OS X Panther), it is immedietly un-installed the next day by my office's I.T. person before I come in. After like the third time of this happening, I asked her about it and she said I was disrupting the stability of the system by using it, and that I should keep using Internet Explorer, a program whose developer no longer supports or even allows you to download, and whose official website basically says, "Use a different program"
(talking about the Mac version here).

    Le sigh.
