o_o ...I'm sorry, did I just see that right? Free Comic Book Day?
First time I've heard anything about this. Is this event, like, an official thing world-wide, area-specific (as in, continent specific, for example, USA only), or promoting to walk into a comic store, and steal? Or even possibly some sort of hoax, which once again brings up the issue of stealing.
I'm all for that. ^^
But seriously, a bit more of an explanation of this would be nice, for those like me who're left out in the dark about it.
I'm not sure if it's anywhere-specific, but it's real. Basically, some publishers make special comics for it, which are free. It doesn't mean ALL comics are free though- that would be madness!
Yes I heard about this on the radio. Seems pretty cool, to me.
the amount of free comics there are depends on how much the owner of the comic shop can afford to buy.
although that may only apply to english-run shops that sell american comics as they need to be imported, but my comic shop owning freind complains about it every year as he can't afford to buy any of the really nicer looking 'free' comics.
Last year, my place gave a bag of random comics, which was pretty great. (Got some marvel greatest hits, the high quality 80 so page ones).
This one was just, like, 5 "sponsered" ones.
Eh.
Still free.
The event was being showcased at the library I work at, but given the lack of variety at the local comic shop (lotsa of Marvel, lots of lycra-clad superheroes and little else), I gave it a miss.
