Well, that's good. I always did prefer Futurama to The Simpsons. It only got cancelled because it wasn't identical to The Simpsons in every way.

Of course, they've been greenlighting a Simpsons movie for years now, so it could be another bluff.

This is great news. Futurama was a decent show but it deserved more credit than it got before it got cancelled. Also I would like to add that I see 'American Dad' sharing the same fate as futurama.

Pretty sure I heard this a while back, perhaps the only difference in affairs is that it's "greenlighted" though last time there was a thread on this we had supposed release dates.

I for one am happy. Futurama is a far more continuity driven show than it's present day themed counterpart.

The Simpsons is fiction. Futurama is real, because it takes place so far in the future. I'd have loved it to last longer than it did, but when people saw it, they said, "This isn't The Simpsos!" and disregarded it.

O.....kay.

You see, fiction does cover past, present and future unless biographical, in which it must be the past. I have no idea where you'd get the idea it's not.

And, I too and disappointed that FOX (not the public), decided that "It's not Simpsons. Thusly is no good"

Thankfully DVD sales of both Futurama, and Family Guy have stuck the proverbial middle finger up at FOX, which they deserve.

Well, Craig, unless you're going to lend me your time machine, how are you going to prove to me that Futurama is not going to be true 1000 years in the future?

The fact that the pilot episode is started under the assumption that cryogentic freezing technology has been perfected and is in use on humans, before the turn of the millenium, when Fry was frozen.

Noting we only had a post regarding dogs being frozen and returned for 45 minutes being a MAJOR breakthrough, I guess that renders it fiction enough to me.

Well, they had to get Fry to the future somehow...

And there's always government conspiracies.

There's nothing to say that robots won't be inteligent in 1000 years time - if the planet hasn't been destroyed by nuclear war.

I'm excited for this. I can't get enough of Futurama. Sure, I cam just watch Adult Swim, but the cable TV is downstairs and by the time it's night, Mom and Dad uses it for their usual Korean drama video fest.

While I like family guy more, I'm extremely happy that theres a Futurama movie coming. I've always liked both Family Guy and Futurama more than the Simpsons, and I wish Fox would air Futurama again. I mean, it would be better than American Dad, which is very similar to Family Guy.

I feel Futurama is more mature than The Simpsons. And political points are more sly and jokes are better and Fry is somehow funnier in his stupidity than Homer, and there's jokes relating to The Simpsons and their trademark "Fox is crap" jokes and there's heads in jars, and somehow I just enjoy it more than The Simpsons.

By that line of reasoning, Star Trek is real, and by now Khan and his supermen have taken over a good chunk of the world.

Yeah, I could never get into the Simpsons. But Futurama! <3 Ah, how I heart thee, Futurama...

Fry is hot in his own special way, right down to his GeeKeR voice actor.

How could Futurama be true, ever? I mean, who in their right mind would invent so many useless things? A smelloscope? Really, people. XD

Oh yeah, something I've wondered... What would happen if you pointed the smelloscope at the sun and then took a whiff? Would your nose, like, explode or spontaneously combust or something?

The world's greatest inventors, of course! Who doesn't remember the man who invented the self-tying shoes?!

Self-tying shoes!?!? OMG! WHERE? I NEED these shoes! See, my friend, self-tying shoes are NOT useless! They save time! [Can they also go to the fridge and bring me pudding?]

It's about time they breathed new life into the old series. I was starting to get bored of all the re-runs on Adult Swim recently.

I agree completly with that, although I belive "American Dad" doesn't even begin to compare to "Family Guy", and I'll be glad to see it off. The series appears as if it's trying to hard...I dunno.

American Dad is unfortunately nowhere near as good as Family Guy. If you'll notice, American Dad seems to be made directly from a formula created by Family Guy. Every character has a counterpart in the other show.

I don't know why they made American Dad...

It's almost a carbon copy of Family Guy, with half the laughs and three thirds less Peter. Stupid dad, average somewhat-in-denial housemom, angsty daughter, dorky son, talking pet. It's a time honored tradition. Just add some political humor and you have yourself a new series; the same candy in a different wrapper.

Couldn't have said it better meself! [applauds]

I'm glad someone else sees American Dad the same way I do. It is nothing more than a carbon copy with half the laughs and 1/3 the Peter.

3/3. There's no Peter at all and for that it should die. 😀

Yack, forgive me! Silly me, I read it wrong.

3/3 less Peter is definitely a bad thing. ><
