I been thinking about this for a while, but are you normally optimistic or normally pessimistic? Do you look at the glass as half-full or half-empty, do you see the doughnut or do you see the hole, or are you a steady mix of both. I am usually the eternal optimist; I almost always look at the positive side no matter how dreary and usually hope and expect the best. However, I would like to note that I am not unrealistically optimistic; that is , if things don't go like I expect, I don't think it's the end of the world nor am I shocked, dismayed, or anything else associated with being unrealistically optimistic. For example, I was hoping that Chaotix would be on Gems, but since it doesn't look like it's going to be, I'm not too disappointed (Death to Sega!:"> ) er.. I mean... uh have a nice and cheerful day!:cuckoo

Half-empty. I'm not a pessimist, but I do wish that the glass was all the way full. Half-empty...waahhh...

Donuts? When I see a donut, I eat it. :thumbsup

I'm mostly optimistic.
You have to stay positive at the end of the day, right?:thumbsup

I've become more optimistic as of late, ever since I've noticed my angst-y side leave me (which started about roughly half year ago). Now, I realize that everything has two sides (light/dark, male/female, etc.), so I no longer have thoughts that everything is bad/against me.

As for the cup thing, I consume drinks at an ungodly rate, so I don't even think about how much is left until it's all gone. :p

Glass? What glass? I see no glass. OMG I'm blind!!!

*Runs around and knocks the half-empty glass on the floor*

Yes I'm a pessimist.

Optimist at heart, but I became cynical when confronted with examples of stupid people or stupid organizations.

While I'm more optimistic then I was some 2 to 3 years ago, I still have my pessimistic side (especially in the worrying department). So, I kinda have both. Blame it on my gemini-ness...

Neither. I'd like to say that I'm a realist. Personally, I'd drink it no matter how much was in it.

As far as the doughnut is concerned, as ShoeHedgie said, I'd eat it regardless. ^^

I'm well known for being an unusually (and sometimes annoyingly) optimistic person in the best and worst of situations. Everybody has their pessimistic times though (or in the case of pessimists, they have optimistic times), even myself XD; I'm happy to say that those times are rather rare and disappear almost as fast as they enter my thoughts.

erm. yeah. I'ma stop rambling now. OPTIMISM YAY **hugs people**

Like Kayla, I'm neither. The way I see it, common sense > optimism > pessimism.

Deepends really, sometimes I'm optimistic, sometimes I'm not. I look forward to a lot of things, but I don't look forward to those things ending...if that makes sense.

Anyway, I think there's a lot more to life than I've experienced so far, and I'd like to experience a lot of them. :)

Evil evil pessimist. Cynical Pessimist at that. I don;t have time to look at things from teh happy happy joy joy point of view, because frankly, when you stay happy, you fail to see the reality of the situation. Sure, pessimism allows you to overextrapolate and see stuff that just won't happen {on the bad side} but it keeps you prepared for the worst :o

common sense > pessimism when it comes to survival at times. :o

Well, if you think about it for a minute, whether a glass is half-empty or half-full depepnds on what you're doing with it. If you're halfway through filling the glass, you see, you've only filled half of it, so it's still only half-full. But if you're in the middle of drinking it, only half of it has been emptied, so it's half-empty.

But really, I'm a realist because A: cheery people piss me off and B: angst, teenage or otherwise, licks donkey balls.

Half empty.

Ugh. I try SO hard to look on the bright side of life... but it's too hard for me.

So yes, a half empty glass makes me think 'Alas, doom....'

Am I the ONLY one who thinks it's "half a glass", not "half empty" or "half full"?

Hey, if you smash a glass on the edge of a table, then it becomes a half-glass!

Half-Empty. I'm cynically pessimistic. I try not to be, but when you see so many flaws in every day living and pay attention to history, you see history repeat itself a lot. So, yeah.

I'm not even optimistic when I order food through the drive-through anymore. I've gotten my order wrong so many times it's not even funny. It's not like I'm not understandable. I work a damn management job, for crap's sake.

I'm half-full. If I wasn't, I probably would've left the U.S. by now.

The glass is clearly twice the size it needs to be :p

Anyway, I tend to be fairly realistic - sometimes cynical, but with some tendency to be optimistic. In general, though, I try to work out what the best outcome would realistically be for any given situation, and work for that.

I reckon the glass is half-empty but I never really liked what was in it, so I'm glad to see it gone.

I usually get corrected by people when I say 'half-empty', but I don't think I'm too much of a pessimist really. There's usually an upside to most things, and if there isn't then c'est la vie. On the other hand, sometimes it just feels better to be misrable, y'know?

Hmm...it depends on how i'm feeling that day. I see the glass as half-full...yet I see the donut hole. =O I'm more or less optimistic, though as of late i've been a bit pessimistic. So yea...my diagnosis, please? ^^
