Hard work and patience has finally been rewarded.
This has a year of long-term substituting for teachers who were out of medical leave (one of which is STILL hurting, but that's another story), as well as facing my first middle school experience in 4 years of teaching. It has been a lot of hard work, making me take a hard look at the things I've been doing wrong in the past.
And after weeks of sweating it out and watching the state deadline get milked to the last possible moment, I received my contract for a second year in Belleville!
I am SO happy and relieved that I'm finally starting to get this right, and that administrations are beginning to see that I WANT to do this. And you watch, everyone, next year will be my best year as a math teacher ever!
For now, though, celebrate in good cheer!
Congrats! 😀
Maybe, just maybe, you may eventually get a permanent placement there. That would be pretty cool, ne?
Good luck on your career! 🙂
*throws a party* Congratulations on that contract, and good luck with it, and all that good stuff ">
They DO have a permanent (hope willing) placement for me.
There's a teacher who's been teaching the GEPA 8 classes for several years now. The problem is that she's only certified to teach straight elementary education. And according to the rules created by No Child Left Behind, she is therefore improperly certified. She was given the option to go back to school so she could earn her math certification, but she chose not to.
So the deal that's been worked out is that as soon as I am free, she'll move down to one of the elementary schools, and I'll take those classes. We weren't sure if it was going to happen this year or next year, depending on when the teacher I'm currently in for came back. Right now, that's gonna be next year.
I've already talked with that teacher, too. Been sitting in on a few of her classes to get an idea of the style and format she uses, and it's a good system. It's one that breaks from regular cirriculum, and that works for me. I feel I can find a perfect balance between material and discipline. In short, it will work, and I'm so happy I'm gonna get this opportunity.
Congratulations for your new contract.
I believe you are going to have so much fun next year.
*Hug* That's AMAZING news, I'm really happy for you. You've worked really hard and it's paid off, big time.
Why is it, every time you show up you find new ways of sending us into awe, inspired by your greatness?
Now go. Hunt. Kick arse!
