[The next two paragraphs list the points and opinions most important to me, the rest is just telling the story of when I was gone; Post was edited a couple minutes after posting it to shorten the subjectline and reword a couple comments]
I've finally decided to return to participation in this forum. Yes, I know I've annoyed people a lot here, but I'm going to try to fix my reputation, I'm not really giving up on it. When I think about it, often times I wasn't clear enough as to why I said and asked certain things, even recently if you could call it that. While I've tried to get taken seriously, it hadn't worked after a while. The thread on games I felt were underappreciated was the one I tried hardest in to improve my posting style. Afterwards I went back to my old ways for a while in the SPA thread about many different things because I assumed whatever was posted in the SPA board wouldn't bother people.
I was wrong of course, as I was made fun of after in the global warming thread. I'm not even sure if I made it clear enough in the past (referring to around the time of the GS Sonic reviews debate; about when was that anyway?) how well I realized how widely disliked my posts were. I could tell they were widely disliked, and noticed people making fun of me. I didn't really consider that I should have focused more on improving my posts than telling people to leave me alone. Later on (around the time of the forgotten games topic) I began considering that false assumptions earlier, and still annoying posting style at the time contributed to my reputation. I STILL feel that to MAKE FUN OF my posts was not justified as I still disagree with them having been THAT bad, even in the earlier days like the Issue #133 debate. However now I'm going to be a little more open to calm suggestions for making my posts more readable (as long as it seems like a reasonable change to me as in one that wouldn't be too difficult to make and also assuming it was asked in a considerate manner)
Now, a lot of the rest of this is reference for why I was gone so long, for online and offline reasons. The previous comments were more relevant to you than the next comments will be, and though I'll obviously try not to be too longwinded with my explanation, the general tendency of it will be rather much so and if you don't want to read QUITE A LOT of text of me explaining myself in different ways, may I suggest you skip to the last paragraph?
I wasn't posting here much before since I focused more on making long posts than on lots of posts, but I had so much to say in each post. (You know, they say "if you really have that much to say keep it to one thread" and that's what I did with the SPA thread, I wanted to bring up several topics, such as me getting out of school for the summer, me hearing about the hacking incident, and several other topics branching off of the later levels of Zelda OoT like ones not responded to like how the game froze up at the worst timing to ones that got plenty of attention like the comment about Ganondorf's death scene)
Therefore, lots of other, more important topics that I should have focused on first I didn't have a chance to adress, at least in an individual topic for it. Some of the important topics I think I might have created a thread on long before whereas others I know I didn't. The reason I had so much emphasis on things as insignificant as GS Sonic reviews was because this site was about Sonic, and GS Sonic reviews were something I felt undermentioned on this site without taking into account that it probably didn't matter as much as I thought it did. Nevertheless, I didn't find it important enough to say "You may be offended by the score they gave Sonic CD" as I merely said that to try to bring attention to those kinds of things and see if that would bring me more responses.
Of course, having more responses was also something I shouldn't have focused so much on, and I apologize for that as well. But I'm still going to focus on getting responses, just not being as extreme about it. Also, I'm still going to focus on Sonic-related topics as opposed to focusing all that much on reality-related ones though I will focus on both. What I'm going to try focusing on would be Sonic-related topics, some that I already brought up (and just want to clear myself up on) whether a real long or just kinda long while ago, as well as ones I hadn't brought up yet, at least not in a topic, though hinted at every now and then.
Well I'm getting a bit carried away with the online stuff. Before getting too longwinded with that, I'd like to mention that even a few months ago I had been planning on returning. I didn't really want to give up on proving myself a decent debater on these boards then as well as now. However, a medical problem that my body hinted at for a while landed me in the emergency room before I had a chance and just knowing that steered my attention away from the Internet for a while. When I returned to the Internet I returned to GS first (it's the first forum I posted in) but still waited another couple weeks before coming back here.
Well there you have it. And now I'm trying once again to fix my rep. I'm really not trying to annoy you, I'm trying to make it so that I can stay here without annoying you. It's a great site (no flattery intended) and I'd resent giving up on posting here. I visited this site a lot long before I joined, and now I spend more time on the forums than on the rest of this site, and I don't think it's too late to continue to. And as Tails would say, "I'm not ready to give up just yet"
Well then. Hiya!
*eats the you.*
i forgot how we mocked you in the first place. Though i think it had to do with you making a big deal about gamespots scores. but oh well.
*devours sx gaining both of your energy*
Uhh...I don't even remember you...at all... but welcome back dude! I like your name too. Is it a ref. to MGS's Solid Snake's voice actor? If so, two thumbs up.
And I refuse to eat you. Sorry dude.
Well welcome back though you could do well to stop posting novel long explaination...
*takes you into my welcoming bosom?*
Well umm Weba. :O
Was I supposed to read that saga? *shot* Good to have you back.
WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME MATTHEW HAYTER WAS BACK?!
I HATE YOU ALL! I'M GOING TO MY ROOM!
*stomps angrily away*
Um, weba you. o.o
*has no idea what to do and follows everyone else*
What do you mean by all of that?
welcome back, sire
Matt!
I'll be honest and say I've not actually read your post yet but I'll make sure I do as soon as possible (which'll probably be after I've posted this) because I love you.
In general: Well I'm glad I'm being warmly welcomed back. Thanks. I almost thought I'd have been told to "forget it" or something. Judging based on the past that is.
stairmaster: Well as I mentioned in the post, (albeit the part I mentioned was very long) I didn't really see GS's Sonic scores to be as big a deal as I made of it.
supershadow70: That's odd, because I became very infamous on these boards for quite a while, even though not as much recently as about a year and a half ago...
As for your other comment, no, Matt Hayter is my real life name. A similar question was asked on GS forums a while back if I was related to David Hayter, an MGS VA. I'm not.
tornadot: Maybe you're right, but I wanted to know that I'd have explained myself. I felt the way people interpreted some of my posts that they might have to some extent been misunderstood.
So I figured, this time, I might as well explain why I did certain things, and just to be practical, do so in my returning thread. Well, either way, I did let people know that the first couple paragraphs summed up my key points and the rest of it was just me explaining why a while back I did certain things, and if they didn't want to read much more, that I ask that they would to skip to the end.
CastorTroy: Was that a parody of my posts, or was I not clear enough?
Rico Underwood: I didn't really mean it THAT way... what I should have said was "well I couldn't really help myself. Before I get even more longwinded with that comment I'd like to bring something else up..."
I am DAMN glad I use 1280x1024 resolution.
Anyway, webbles Matt.
...that's about all I have to say about it.
~LightStrike (aka SilverShadow).
What does "webbles" mean?

Was that because you were skipping a lot of text? If so, then was my idea (of letting people know what text to skip if they really wanted to avoid reading a lot of text) a good idea?
Webble = Weba = Welcome Back.
Also I guess the whole skippy testyness is an ok idea, 'tho personally I'd either try to be less long winded or use anchor points and link to 'em. Saves scrolling.
(Poooooooke me if you wanna know more about anchor points 😮 )
You're back?
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THIS???!
You're back?
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THIS???!
...o.o This is just too good to pass up. He means he isn't forward. DUH.
I do remember you, personage.
Welcome back.
THS: Ahhh, explains weba as well. Thanks, THS.
As for the anchor points idea, is scrolling itself really that big a problem? If so, maybe I should learn to use anchor points. *pokes you*
BrownCowKapow: Were you making fun of me?
Either way, I mean, "back" as in "I'm here again"
Xagarath Ankor: "Personage" as in "a person not meriting identification" or "personage" as in "a person whose actions and opinions strongly influence the course of events"?
Notice how I didn't ask "what do you mean by personage?"
Scrolling isn't a big problem, but anchor points would help anyone who wants to skip sections.
Anyway, firstly you've got to put <a name="whatever">Subtitle</a>, where the 'whatever' is what you want to call it (best if it's short and easy to remember) and the Subtitle being the text at the place you want to jump to...then, where you want it to link from, put <a href=""#whatever">Link" text</a>. I realise that that isn't all too clear, hence why I'll lik to the following site which'll have more about it: www.w3schools.com/html/html_links.asp
And also you'll need to have HTML selected for it to work, too.
In this post I will touch on a few different things. I will explain On the one hand On the other hand Nevertheless I wanted I think a more I'll also make a By the way
On the one hand, it would probably make my posts more organized, making it easier for the rest of you to find specific semi-topics or who it's responding to, or certain points even, without me having to cut back on the overall content of the posts.
On the other hand, it'd be much, much less convenient for me. I know it'd be more convenient for the rest of you, but I don't think scrolling through to the last paragraph would be as hard as carefully working through HTML and trying to carefully organize my posts, having them planned so that certain text starts a certain section, trying to decide what text links to that section... it'd either way be less enjoyable for me because of the major change it would be.
Nevertheless I wanted to try it out for this post and see how it'd work. It's ironic that I'm discussing the posting style when I'm typing in it, and furthermore it also makes me commenting on it more credible. Most importantly, I wanted to know if I COULD do it.
I think a more practical solution would be for me to try to have my posts a bit less longwinded. This saves more of my time AND everyone else's, and I don't have to make major changes. Also my posts would be more like the rest of yours as well. If I catch myself getting longwinded and there's comments I REALLY don't want to remove, I MIGHT try the anchor points. But as I've been told for longer to cut back on how unnecessarily long my posts are I'll try to lean more towards that in general.
If making a debate, maybe I'll start off with my most important points in the debate. If I feel I need to explain certain parts of my view on the debate to certain people I might try PMing them. If I feel these subjects sorta vary as subjects within subjects I'll lean away from saying it all at once and probably make separate topics for them at separate times. is that a better idea?
By the way, I think your explanation of anchor points was clear enough. It's just that I don't really feel like using them, well at least not yet.
