This is a fairly random question, but inspired by the fact that I just found an old video of mine with Inspector Gadget cartoons (and a couple of Sam n Max, yay!). The credits always say soundtrack available on Saban records, but I've never seen anything other than the single (by the Kartoon Krew) ever turn up on eBay.
I was wondering if anyone knew whether there was a release of the cartoon soundtrack anywhere. I particularly love the music accompanying Penny saving the day
I know the movie soundtrack is available, mostly from Germany for some reason. Disney never released it in the UK.

Dude I have no clue. The cartoon did have a sweet soundtrack though.
Duh-nuh-nuh-neh-nuh In-spec-tor Gad-jet, dun-nuh-nuh-NEH-uh-UH...
I'm really not about to run out and buy an Inspector Gadjet soundtrack, it's a bit too lamecore for a 15-year old, but I can't say I didn't watch the show when I was a kid.
Go-go gadjet indifference.
It's not lamecore for a 24 year old
Seriously though, it's the instrumental stuff in the background that's great. I mean, these guys did Mysterious Cities of Gold and the soundtrack to that is just beautiful.
Wonder whether Amazon.co.jp has anything?

Yeah, you probably need to import. As I did with the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack...
Is it just me, or are all of you way too interested in children's programming?
It's just you.
Children's programming has the occasional merit even in this day and age. They often had darn good composers too, as in this case.
I won't hold Inspector Gadget up as the hero of all children's programmes (there's a whole 'nother debate - according to Channel 4, that would be the Simpsons. I pity our nation). The same plot every episode does wear after a bit. But it does have the advantage of being a parody of / homage to (take your pick) Get Smart, which absolutely rocked. Plus I wanted a watch with a laser and communicator in it

On a forum based on what was originally a KIDS' videogame, no less. Inspector Gadget and City of Gold were awesome then, and they're awesome now.
Speaking as someone who's spent the last nine months as a Children's Librarian, I get a little frustrated when I see pepople dismiss something just because it's for kids.
That doesn't mean that it can't still have a well-constructed narrative or striking artwork - and some people just like that sense of nostalgia and being able to take a break from "adult" stuff.

Then, of course, we have the specific example an acquaintance of mine likes to cite: In the Uk a few years back, His Dark Materials were the bestselling children's books, a work about religion, the afterlife, parallel universes and dark matter. The bestselling work in adult fiction was "Does my Bum Look Big in This"?
Just because it's for children really doesn't mean it's any less intelligent than adult fiction, and quite possibly more.
