That's like me asking you who you would have picked to be the Governor-General of Canada, but I would've picked someone more in touch with the real world and with at least fifteen years' experience as a judge.

I disagree. You've displayed an interest in (and knowledge about) US politics beyond that I've seen in many of its citizens.
No, it's quite similar -- both the US Supreme Court judges and the Canadian Governor-General are arbitrarily appointed by the executive head of the government. Asking me who I would have picked to be the next Supreme Court judge would require me to know a lot about the American court system and the people in it, just as asking an American who they would have as the new Governor-General would require them to be aware of a lot of Canadian public figures. It's not like there's a huge buildup beforehand where a panel of judges pick from a group of contestants American Idol-style. Hell, even most Canadians hadn't heard of Michaelle Jean unless they were avid CBC viewers. Had you heard of John Roberts before he was named?
Eh a okay by me. I don't know about Chief Justice though...I might have picked someone else more qualified and experienced than Roberts...

I'll assume you mean before he was nominated by the president for the Supreme Court. Yes, I had, although I admit that my father is a judge who discusses politicical matters around the house quite often, so I am probably a rare case.
