Beacuse I got it a few days ago in a trade (DVD for DVD), and it's Pound Puppies Legend of Big Paw. I saw it today for the first time in quite a few years, and it's still as good as I remembered it.
But how about you all?
It's on DVD now? ust be R1 only...
I remember finding it rather cute (if undemanding) when I was watching it in the '80s, but you couldn't make it today - I doubt that the studios would go for a movie where the songs're a parody of 50s and 60s tunes.
I think I heard that there was a Pound Puppies cartoon series, too. Am I right? We never got it here in the UK.
i used to collect the toys by the armful (still got them in a box somewhere in the attic. ) but i was never aware that they had a film or a cartoon series. nifty. oo
My Pound Puppies're still sitting on top of the wardrobe in my bedroom at my parents' house. I have a fairly respectable collection, too.
one of my faves was a giant pound puppy, with a velcro'ed hole in it's stomach which had just enough space to fit 3 tiny new born puppies inside her. ^^ i also had two normal sized puppys.
they're all a bit well loved now, however. i also had to put them away as my room is plauged by little 'fuzzy bears' that gnaw holes through any cloth they can find. ox;
Wow, here's a topic I didn't really expect.
I grew up in a small town, and when one of the only animated movies at the library was a little thing called "Pound Puppies" you get used to borrowing it over and over. My little brothers and I had two stuffed puppies that we got from somewhere (probably a gift from someone) so that was probably what sparked it. Maybe just a little weird that it's on DVD; but not, really, when you consider the Pound Puppies were trying to be ressurected when DVD came to be standard.
Oh my god.
I LOVED Pound Puppies when I was a kid. It's so odd that they're now on DVD.
...Not that I'm going to the nearest store to buy the videos, of course, but it does being back a few memories. 🙂

I had one of those, too. My collection numbered double figures.
I remember somewhat enjoying the Pound Puppies movie and TV show when my age was still in the single digits. However, when I reached 11 or 12 and viewed the movie through cable, I thought it was bland and juvenille--like most movies and TV shows in the 80's that were really 24-minute commercials. Thank you Disney Afternoon, Tiny Toons, Simpsons, and Batman the Animated Series for showing me the light.
I did used to own a Pound Puppy mini-puppy and I had a little yellow raincoat set for the itty-bitty thing. I think I gave them both to charity when I felt I outgrew them.
Pound Puppies had a movie?! I remember watching the cartoon an excessive moment, but a movie!? Must get now!

I remember that movie. It was a favorite of mine, and I still like it actually. Nice knowing I'm not the only one who does. =)
