Hey Everyone!

Its been a long while since I've tried this, and so much has changed, so I figured this would be worth another shot. Especially now that I can control the area that we are building in, so it'll be much more secure. :D

How about trying to build our own virtual representation of what Sega City would look like? The way the 3D browser works makes building relatively simple, and uses a list of objects in the world as a basis for what you can and can't make. Heres an some examples of some Sonic-related things I've built with it:

Some cool things about this is that it has chat features along with 3d building, so you can even do roleplaying things. :D

We've done this several times before in years past, but it usually failed because the building area was unsecure. While it still is, to some degree, I can now take daily backups of the building area once we get the ball going, and eject troublemakers from the area.

If you are interested in at least checking this out, here is a simple tutorial that'll get you to our building area in about five minutes. First, go to www.activeworlds.com and click the button that says 'launch.' Follow installation steps from that, and then you should be directed to a log-in screen. Yours should look something like this

This will probably be your first time using this program, so log on as a tourist, or free user. Tourists have lightly restricted features, such as only being able to use one male and female avatar, and having buildings that others can edit. There is no time limit to what you can do however, and if these daily backups work out, buildings in danger should not be much of a concern anymore.

Anyway, once you are signed in you'll be in a wonderful bottleneck known as AWGate. Don't stay there too long, or you'll get drug up in idle chitchat with about 30 or so inept people. Anyway, here are the controls:

Move: Arrow Keys
Jump: 0 (Keypad)
Run: Hold control while walking
Fly: + or - on your numeric keypad (numlock must be off)
Shift: Hold shift to go through objects

Once you figure that out, check out the top bar. Right now you're interested in getting out of AWGate, so click 'teleport>to...' It should look something like this

If done correctly, you should need to enter two bits of information before you can leave AWGate. The first box is the world box, which will teleport you to another world. You want to enter 'awteen' into this box. In the coordinates box, you want to put '50n 2880e -19.5a'

Now you should be at our building area. I or another forumer will probably be in there if you need any help, and if not, I've set up a few information areas directy north of the entry point.

Enjoy :D

I messed around in AW the last time it got "into fashion" and it was fun. Infact, me, Lighthead & Acrio all went back to the old MF location a few days ago. Unfortunately, this computer seems to have some major visualization problems with AW, so all I really enjoyed was a Tidal Tempest midi for some water place that I couldn't make out at all.

This is the exact view I get when I put the co-ordinates in. Observe.

Dee colon.

Edit: Problem solved. Thanks Ant

Woo, got your problem fixed.

(Just for future reference, if anyone has a problem like HSW is, check options on the top bar, then click settings. This will open up a tab window, click the tab that says video. Then change your video settings to 'Software Renderer.'

Should fix it :D

Unless they changed the graphics immensly and added new construction features to make things easier? I am not touching that thing.

I'll probably join some time, after I format my computer because it's an absolute mess and not even a registry fix would make it better. For now, bump so I can try this later.
