First of all - Sam is asleep behind me but I think I can speak for her when I say thank you all so much for the wonderful bithday thread and the birthday wishes. :)

We - myself, her, Craig Bayfield, and several friends are at Dragon Con where I was invited for the weekend and they came to visit. Today has been an interesting day to say the least. = For me and for them. I'll let them speak of their airplane debacle later. But if you want to know how our day was in Atlanta today - click the link.

Again, thanks, and we'll see you guys in two weeks. :)

Speakin' of the gas prices, I've heard some gas stations are deliberately jacking up the prices just to take advantage of all the extra business going round, thanks in part to all the evacuees. Of course, this wasn't an actual report, more my Mom relating a report she'd seen, so it could just be that they're literally running out of gas. Still, at the rate things are going, I certainly hope the alternative fuel sources are coming along nicely.

Shadow Hog, are you sure you posted in the right topic?

It was in the blog entry, so for all I care, yes. Otherwise this leaves only the ex-roommate's wife/GF's family going missing to discuss, and while I do condone discussing that, there was an awful lot in that entry that could be commenting on, so why not?

...but still, it's worth repeating.

Prayers to your friends Dub. Hope things go well for you, Sam, Craig, and the others at Dragon-Con.

What truly upsetting times. It seems everywhere I go nowadays, there's something happening that causes such sad times like these.

They are. Its absolutely disgusting. I witnessed firsthand the signs on the Texaco Gas pumping jumping from 3.03 to 4.83 in less than 15 minutes. Some lady got on the radio and spoke of 5.99

I know one guy at that same Texaco pumped 70 something dollars worth of gas into what I THINK was a buick. I dont remember. Craig and Sam were just bewildered and to be honest I dont blame em cause I was too.

The panic in itself is inane, but the whole situation is just ridiculous.

Oil companies should just give up and let us all let everything run on water. =(

Meanies.

Yeah, I've seen gas prices jump THIRTY CENTS where I live overnight. It went from 2.81$ to 3.10$ at our corner station - good thing i got gas YESTERDAY, before the hike (and I thought it was bad THEN).

And this happened in so-Cal, which is relatively removed from it all.

That's a bit of a stupid statement to make, wouldn't you think? A large amount of refineries in New Orleans are now inoperable, and oil rigs in the Gulf are inoperable for the moment as well.

Besides, in terms of current price hikes, instead of shifting blame to the oil companies, pin it on Katrina.

As for the water bit...we're still a while away from that. We haven't even moved on to hydrogen.

You're the tiniest bit horrible with jokes. o.O

Sorry to hear about your friend, WB. = I do hope her family is well and I hope if they aren't she at least finds out without having to go search for the answer.

Yeah, supposedly people are taking advantage and raising prices just to raise them. That's not the oil companies, these are dealers decisions. CNN was reporting that the governor of Georgia was demanding a stop on the price gauging as seemingly Georgia has a big issue with that. ;p

Yeah. It's pretty bad up here too. I think it's almost 3.50 right now.

Anyways, it's good that everyone so far is safe and sound, but I hope that your friend's family is found. I'm rooting for her to find them. 🙁

Wow, I can't believe how costly gas is for you guys. It's 2.79 for the cheap stuff, and 3.09 for high-octane where I live. So I guess there are some benefits to living so far north.

Still, enjoy Dragoncon. The Bros. Chaps are there at Booth 101 in the Exhibitor's Hall, and I will be sorely disappointed if I don't get ANY indication of what these "toons you've never seen before" are.
