Starting this week, the specialty station "Rapture TV" will be relaunching on UK airwaves, and will be airing anime on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 8:30pm. Wolf's Rain airs on Tuesday nights, while Fullmetal Alchemist airs on Thursday nights.
WR is watchable, I suppose, due to the presence of Yoko Kanno, but do yourselves a favour and catch Fullmetal Alchemist on Thursday.
I need a channel, NOW. I got pounced on by a Rapture rep at the anime con I attended a few weeks back but he left few details.
For hope of FINALLY seeing FMA, I'd walk through hell itself.
Or the nearest equivalent of hell, which would be watching Gundam SEED Destiny again. Worst sequel series ever >.> Nice avatar by the way Peppy
Poor Sting didn't even get a chance to do anything. The series died along with him.
I'm hoping that, at the very least, the inevitable compilation movies can salvage the series as much as possible. Mostly by, ya know, actually focusing on the main character.
On that note... how the HELL do I change the size of my avatar?
I hope so too, I was hugely disappointed that the series degraded into Kira Yamato's Powerplaying Fun Hour by the end, and Shinn didn't have a chance to repent, advance or... well do anything in the end.
I mean he was just a minor obstacle for Athrun to overcome, and in the end he is still as dangerously ignorant and emotional as ever. That was a MAJORLY abrupt ending caused by far FAR too much filler, 4 recap episodes (As much as I loved Meer, she did NOT deserve a recap ep to herself).
It was looking so great, about the time that Destroy completely obliterated Berlin, then Shin started acting stupid and unreasonable, Athrun became a spineless wimp again, and whenever Rey spoke more words than "Shinn!" at varying degrees of severeness, he'd mesmerise people with his bull political propaganda of ideals which just plain do not work.
I mean he and Gilbert basically said "Your best friend deserved to die because we don't know what he's doing" and made Athrun agree.
*Shudders* Just thinking about that series makes me annoyed. It had potential to have a decent ending, but again. Kira Yamato Powerplaying Fun Hour.
Shinn and Athrun barely factored into that ending at all, and then it just ended with no resolution. I agree that the movies MIGHT help add some depth, but what could they do? Show Neo finally realising he's Mwu like we've all known since the VA list was released? Shinn and Luna back in society with no aim or purpose. Marrue looking after Tylia's baby and of course, Kira and Athrun sitting on that damn beach flashing back to their final Strike Versus Aegis battle over and over again.
It'll be like the Gundam SEED "Movies", 5 minute additions to the series, which weren't really needed.
I still love the original series, but JEBUS! Destiny hurt, bad. Only thing that'll make up for it is a Perfect Grade Strike-Freedom with the Sword/Launcher attachments for my PG Strike.
go ask in the EVC about your avatar, i'm sure that question has been asked and answered recently.
as for FMA, i've already seen quite a bit of the series now (20+ episodes?) from freinds who've downloaded fan dubs. i'm guessing this will be played on some extra channel which i can't view, so i'm not massively missing out.

i managed to scrape together the cash for my licence this year. last year i went nearly loopy without my comedy programmes and cartoons. ;_;
lately i've heard that even if we use our TVs for only watching DVDs/videos/console gaming.. we still need to pay a TV licence.
neh? oO
Do you mean plan to change the law to mean that, or that its that now...
Cos Im damn sure it's not true.... I have no plans to get a TV license while at Uni, but I do plan on bringing a screen/DVD player to tune in on...
I mean, you can watch DVD's on a laptop, so you might need to pay a TV license to play DVD's on a computer!!!!
It's just wrong, WRONG I TELL YOU!
i'm certain i've heard that in the future, they may charge us the licence for our computers as well, since we'll be able to donwload/stream TV through them.
sadly i've no links or sources to back me up here.
i think it may have been scaremongering with the licence for even if you don't watch TV, but they've certainly been bugging us at my univeristy about it all. xx;
I can't find anything in the EVC.

Well, since the director was apparnetly not pleased with the series, I'm hoping that some things are just outright changed. For instance, if they cut out the Archangel completely and delay Freedom's return until about the time the Destroy Gundam lets loose, episodes 1-28 could probably be compressed into one 2+ hour film. The second film could concentrate on the whole Destroy Gundam arc and Destiny's introduction, and movie 3 would be... well, hopefully it would be completely different.
Specifically, Kira should fall out of focus after the Destroy Gundam arc, Neo probably SHOULDN'T be Mu (and it would be more interesting if he stayed "bad" and Murrue joined him on the Girty Lue or something), Akatsuki just shouldn't exist and the Seirans should be defeated AFTER they actually get the chance to do something devious and without the aid of a deus ex machina, Legend shouldn't exist (it should just be the Zaku Phantom with a DRAGOON backpack!), Athrun should see actual development rather than going spineless only to wind up exactly as he was at the end of SEED, and of course, Sting should live into the final conflict. The ending could also be more effective if it focuses on Shinn's reaction to Durandel's defeat rather than the defeat itself.
There's also supposed to be a 40 minute conclusion OVA included on the last DVD.
Oh yeah, it seems that Canada will be getting Destiny on TV in January. The first series was pretty popular up here. We still don't have FMA though.
By any chance is this beastly channel on NTL?
There are 2 reasons for that;
Prime spot to get a bit more tax revenue in, fininig students...
Catch them young then they wont reoffend as adults...
...
Yes, damn them to hell. But, come on, charging license fee for PC's? Why bother, it's going to be abolished within our lifetime anyway...

yup, that's how it seems to be.
i doubt they will charge us for the computers, it's possibly a plan for the future when computers and TVs become more combined.
Just caught Fullmetal Alchemist (which is the Tuesday show, not Wolf's Rain) and it was a nice intro, if WAY too abrupt and throwing the viewer in the deep end.
Rapture is an AWFUL channel though. The show started 17 minutes before the billed time meaning if I wasn't on the channel before hand, I would have missed 60% of it.
Hope to catch the rest of it, if only to understand what the heck happened at the start and end of that ep.
channel number anyone?
seen all 51 eps of fullmetal anyway, but some of the other stuff might be interesting, specially since I can catch all of it as I'm getting sky plus tomorrow
This was the episode with Father Cornello in Liore, right? Yeah, that episode was somewhat abrupt, but I don't think starting it any other way would've worked much better. It did all that it needed to - start up a plot, present questions that need answering (I'll not be spoiling any for you), introduce you to some of the main characters (Ed, Al, Lust), and so on.
Next couple of eps are told as one huge flashback leading up to that first episode. Don't worry, it'll make sense.

Wrong.
My family had an argument with the licence people about it. If you're not actually connected to an ariel.... you don't need one.
In our case, it was using a tv card in a computer for vcr/console-ness
I've also seen all of FMA, courtesy of Geordie (smeggedoff)
Pretty good series, though I still prefer Slayers.
Well Wolf's Rain was aired at the correct time. I have to say, I'm MAJORLY impressed with the animation. It's a bit over the top during the intiial train raid scene, but visually I was in love from the title sequence.
I felt like the first ten minutes of the show were designed to use the image or reference of wolves enough times to make a person hate them for life. Superliminal is just a bit TOO much.
I remember someone once telling me "this show starts really really slow and then rushes the ending because it ran out of time", if it keeps to this pace I'd agree.
Frankly, I'm only impressed visually.
so far I've spotted Gene and Jim, although jim was last seen falling off a girder
also impressed cisually, but I like the show too, I'm interested to see how it keeps going
You don't look for the same thing I do then. Of course you need to see more than just one or two episodes of Wolfs Rain to start getting interested. The plot is pretty damn good from a authors prespective, better than most anime with the whole teenage hero + big boobed lead lady + flashy attack killkill blood blood thing.
Without giving spoilers anime's that kill off main characters are pretty gutsy. I advise you watch more of the series before judging 'em ex-lackeyboy.

Didn't say I was going to stop watching, was just posting my initial reactions to the show.
And, seriously, the wolf imagery/references were just painful, I bursted out laughing when the bounty hunter dude shouted out "IT'S A WOLF! A WOLF I TELL YA!"
I'll give it a few more weeks 🙂
Hmm... nope, either you don't like the plot, or don't have a clue yet. Took me a few episodes to figure it out too .

No-one has specified which channel number this Rapture TV is at, nor which providers it is available on.
If this is a Sky-only thing, I shall be disappointed once again. D:
EDIT: DAMMIT! IT IS A SKY-ONLY THING! ;___;
Whyyyyyy don't they broadcast on cable too? ;_;
it sounds like it might be.. it certainly isn't one of the 'normal' 5 channels.
Just to let you guys know, there was an error during Rapture's broadcast of FMA, and apparently they've confirmed that the problem will be sorted out next week.
Also, FMA and Wolf's Rain are supposed to repeat back-to-back on Sunday night at 8pm.
