Linked from Sonic Cult, so beware of language.

Aside from some other crazy stuff, this woman named her daughter after Yuji Naka. Am I the only one embarrassed by this woman?

I'm so glad I have severed all ties to the Sonic franchise's past or present existence.

every fandom has people who are depraved or mentally hilarious

you shouldn't feel embarrassed to be a sonic fan just because of one person

you should feel embarrassed to be a sonic fan because you still buy @#%$ sonic games

Word, Deck.

9 minute loading times for tutorial mini-games make me ashamed to be a Sonic fan. Not crazy fans.

Also the comment in CuLT regarding the Rush Adventure new girl and what the fans will inevitably do to her. That makes me ashamed to be a human being.

The poor girl is going to take so much abuse when she gets in school. I feel sorry for her.

To be honest, most people wouldn't know who Yuji Naka was.

Yeah, but they'll know that the name is foreign, and thus, something to make fun of. You know how cruel and silly the little kiddies can be these days. :p

Girl with a guys full name. That'd be like a Japanese girl being called Michaeljackson Yamato.

Luckily they get to be called by their sirname.

Those kind of names won't make good pseudonyms when those people grow up.

Is it wrong that I laughed uncontrollably at this?

People, that's not the first case of weird, unfitting, wrong and bad names..
My dad told me he once took a peek at some book in the city hall where the names of all inhabitants of the city were registered.
He told me some people (especially from poorer areas of the city, since it was Brazil I'm referring to favelas here), called their children really odd things, like "Onetwothree da Silva four". (According to him this was one of the names he saw.)

So, yeah, the girl's called Yujinaka. I don't think many people will make fun of her at school because of this, there are people whose surname is "Hiscock", which is IMO much worse.
And a common name here in Greece is Paraskev, which means Friday, but nobody seems to care. 😛

All I hope for this baby is that the mother take good care of it, if anything, like others have said, the possibility of a name change does still stand.

It's not the fact that she named her kid "Yujinaka" that freaked me out, it's all that stuff that she did before that.

I'm not necessarily embarrassed by this, though. Get a large enough group together and you're bound to get some loonies...

Look at it this way:

At least she didn't name her kid Moon Unit.

I've heard somebody named their dog C-3PO.

That's naming a pet, though. She's naming her kid that. I mean, it's not that I'm saying that she shouldn't; I'm just pointing out that there's a tiny bit of a difference involved. I mean, when we first got our dog, I wanted to name him Muttski... xP

I'm not afraid to put this on record, because I really want it, and it's an agreement Andrea and I came to.

We're getting near that point where we're going to have kids (if it's ever going to happen). And the current agreement is that she gets to name the first-born male, and I get to name the first-born female. And I have my full name already picked out:

Amy Rose Marie (Sapinski)

I chose it for several reasons. First, I really do like the name Amy, I'm being honest. Second, my grandmother's name is Marie, so that's in there. Third, the Sonic homage. Lastly, the "Rose Marie" part is a homage to the classic comedienne of the same name from The Dick Van Dyke Show and the original Hollywood Squares.

So there's a lot of inspiration there. I don't mean for any of it to sound embarassing, silly or over-obsessing as a fan. I just like it.

And yes, I realize with my last name, the initial would spell ARMS. I can't help that. But then, think if my last name was Young or something...

My initials spell ET. xD

If we are to get married and have children, my boyfriend wants to name a female child Sonia and I really don't see anything too wrong with that, either. 😛

Thing is though, Whammy, all those names are relatively normal girls' names. The only thing that's immediately unusual about the name Amy Rose Marie Sapinski is that there are four names there, but even that's not unheard of: I know quite a few people with four or more names, not even counting double-barreled names.

There's a difference between that and taking some bloke from a foreign country, running it together into one word and then calling your daughter that. That's wierd enough without being borne of the obsessive fanaticism of a crazy whore.

Amy Rose Marie sounds normal. It isn't a name you'd "Hubadubawha?" at.

Manicotti?
My initials spell out "ELM". Some of the kids in my old neighborhood actually called me "Pokemon Professor" when G/S came out. I didn't mind much- they were in my cousin's class and I could smoke 'em all at video games anyway.

My initials spell out "JLW". My first name is Jeff, and my middle name is Lough, pronounced "low". Due to this, some people would call me "J-Lo" in elementary school. x.x

Pssh. While that's still bad, the Sonic fandom in general embarrasses me. So this is nothing new; It's been a mutual feeling for years now.

All the names in my family (and even some relatives) their initals spell something.

Mine's SPY. I'm sneaky!

Mine spells out SHHH (or SHH if you count my middle name as one word). The ironic thing is that I hate dead silence (But I also hate loud jarring noises, too... so...).

It's like Scientology, but without Tom Cruise and with more Japanese men who couldn't care less!

I half wonder if she's joking, but after naming her baby as she did, it's very possible that she isn't.

Oy... *shakes head*

Personal Favourite line: "All donations will go twards [sic] buying Yuji Naka games for the underprivildged [sic]." I'd love to see that. xD

"Yay! Sonic the Hedgehog! ... but I don't have a PS3..."
