It was all over the radio. Probally even on all the local tv news if I had checked. A huge blizzard the likes of which Chicagoland has seen in a long time was going to come and come hard. I of course dismissed this as blowing the storm way out of proportion, which has happened alot. Besides, I had to get to ECC on Friday to take my Psychology test. There's no time for slim hope! So all the rest of Thursday was National Study Day. However, I'm not as diligent in studying as I hoped. My father came in and told me to go to bed early so I could be sharp for the test, but of course I had majorly slept in and had too much energy to sleep. So I spent into the twilight hours doing either MF chat or photoshoping fun with Epona in the SPA. Occasionally I looked out the window and noticed the snow starting. My street is on a snow route yet right then there were no cars and the snow covered the entire street. It was a rare sight to see. Around 3 AM I finally decided to get off and try to fall asleep, but who can sleep when you got MYOWWW on the brain? After a few giggling fits I finally settled down and tried to fall asleep for a couple hours without much avail. I eventually went back online to see if there were any replies and to check the weather radar at WGNradio.com, what my mother always uses for weather. It was only a short time until my parents alarm rang, which means it was going to be about two or three alarm going off periods before they actually get out of bed. I used this a signal to get off the computer for the second time tonight and try to sleep some more. I looked out the window one last time. Plows had already gone through and desnowed my street. There seemed to be only an inch of snow on the ground and there was no new snow in the sky. Any hope of no class happening was shattered. I laid there for at least 45 minutes before I guess I finally fallen asleep.
Suddenly I woke up. I checked the time and it was somewhere after 8:00. I had only slept a little over an hour. It was daylight and there was more snow on the ground than before. There was new snow falling down constantly. My street was reduced to a single tire tracks on the ground. With the speed of the Russian Dance from the Nutcracker Suite in my head I rushed down to my mother downstairs and asked her. Turns out all the schools were closed, including ECC. All classes and their activies were rescheduled for Monday. I sighed a sighing sigh of relief and went back upstairs to type. So somehow, I don't have to take the Psychology test until after the weekend. Now with this finally done I will either do one of three things:
Go down and eat breakfast (typing can make you hungry)
Find a working Genesis ROM of Shining Force I (have always longed to replay it)
Go back to sleep (Do not disturb or face the wrath of a thousand koopas)
Oh, HECK YES. 😀 All day yesterday, students and faculty alike were raving about this huge snowstorm that was going to hit overnight. Several teachers doubted there would be any school today (which there isn't), to the point where they were rescheduling tests and insisting we take our choir outfits home for a gig the following day ('cause we wouldn't be at school to pick them up).
We got hit with more freezing rain than snow (which is probably why they cancelled school. Icy roads with teenage drivers for the uber lose), but we've still got a good five inches or so dumped on our heads, and it's just starting to fade as I type.

Meh, we get heavy showers with a high of 72F, over here. Needless to say, it feels more autumny than winter - which is fair enough, since winter doesn't start until the 21st or so anyway. But it's very much EARLY-autumn weather in LATE-autumn, which isn't right...
=(... Screw you Illinoians... Here in Minnesota, we've gotten a recent blast of cold air... with no snow ><.
It rained on Monday and Tuesday. It looks like we'll get snow on Sat and Sun...
In my 6 years of living in Minnesota (consecutive... I don't remember from long ago) I've had exactly ONE Snow Day and a handful of delays.
I've had rain all day with a high of 70-something here in northern NJ. Tomorrow it's supposed to be in the 30's-40's.
Such a drastic change in the weather, it is.
It snowed in North Texas yesterday, including Dallas. Down here in the Hill Country we got sleet and ice. School was not cancelled, however.
On Wednesday the high was 82F, Yesterday it was 42F. I'm sure I'll be sick by next week from the dramatic change in temperature.
I want snow ;_;. Also I make my own snow days. I dont need for school to be canceled ^^
Im home due to SNOW! No school!
Well If your in a plublic school, school day for you!
Today's the first day in over ten years my school district closed the schools because of snow. I think I would've been better off going, though. I spent the whole morning shoveling.
I'm in Virginia, and we're getting part of this system right now. Howver instead of snow, we've got wind, and there will be thunderstorms later.
It's also above 60 degrees outside. x__x Mom's complaining that she doesn't want May in December.
I've seen snow once in my life. Two days before my birthday early this year...
...noone in my fitness classebeleived I'd never seen snow before. o.o
the storm already came through for me. I havent gone to school for 2 days!!
Wow the Weather Channel, based on the entire USA, did a live report twice in my hometown just now. My father was watching it and I only got to see part, but he said a satellite view was used to zoom in to show where it was. When they did the actual reports, I couldn't reconize any of the houses and buildings due to it zoomed in when they were doing interviews. They even had a weather channel do a live feed in the downtown, but was still hard to recognize. They said that the town got in 8 inches, yet I stayed inside for the entire day. ;_;
If anyone asked what I did on my list, I couldn't decide and did all three! *is playing Shining Force right now* ^_^ All its music is coming back to me. This should be fun.

As another NYC metropolitan area resident, that pretty much accurately describes my weather for the day and the forecast for tomorrow. Only it didn't rain all day here. It's the temperature drop that has me annoyed. I was enjoying the 60-degree weather (re: upper teens for those using the Celsius scale).
...I want snow =(
Meh, we didn't even get alot of rain here on Long Island, just some really stong gusts. =(
Man, this is some old bullsh*t.
It's now December 2nd, and where I live we haven't had any significant snowfall all year. And by 'significant', I mean 'falls for more than an hour and doesn't melt when it hits the ground'.
This is Canada, now.
**gives Wonderbat some of our snow**
The mail didn't even come yesterday where I am because the mail trucks couldn't get through the unplowed courts. And even then, the freezing rain fused many of our mailboxes shut. I know I had to break mine open. >>

Rockford, IL here. We got a crapton of snow. And while the Weather Channel reported only 6 inches in the Chicago land area, I'm sorry, we go tmore. The stuff was up to little under my knees, and my house is up on a downward slope!
So, needless to say, shoveling is not fun. Getting your car out of snow is not fun. And getting called in for work on your day off because idiots can't NOT shop for video games is also, not fun.
you need to get one of those car tents they use in canada, jin. saves having to dig your car out each day!
speaking of canada, that's been the only time i've seen a white christmas. ^^; i'd never seen so much snow in my entire life!
while here in rainy england we've just had lots of rain, drizzle and constant spittling or spotting when it isn't doing the other two. snow? wait until easter, we'll get snow then. ;p

At least the power didn't go out due to the wind. That's what my mom worried about the entire time.

Wimpy... Real men dig their cars out of the snow... Or just park their car in the garage and let their teen shovel the driveway and dig their car out...
I can't wait till I have my own children to exploit
We had a bit of snow round here last week. I think we got about two feet total. Most of it is still here, in fact.
Basically after two straight weeks of pouring rain we had a day of sun, and then all of a sudden last Saturday it got cold. Very cold. And then stuff started falling from the sky again, only this time it was snow. And not angry, windy, sleety, blizzard snow, but light, lazy, relaxing Christmas-type snow. This is the view out my window last Sunday morning.
The next day I brought my camera with me on the way to work. I was greeted with this sunrise:
It was basically overcast but the cloud cover slid away about an hour later.
Yes, apparently even the ugliest industrial district of Surrey, BC can look beautiful, as long as it is clothed properly.
Ah, truly a beautiful sight,Cyc! Thanks!!
Ooh very nice pictures, especially the second one.
I wish I could have some snow here in Philadelphia; we had like a grand total of 3 days of snow last winter and I have a desperately need to build a snowman ;x
ps. Cyc, I would suggest dialing in about +half a stop of exposure comp when shooting in virginal white snow the reflected light tends to throw off the meter.
Nice pics. AND they're calling for snow and sleet tonight

in my 17 years in minnesota, i've had exactly three snow days, with no delays. even when the roads are just ice, and 40 below. are school system wants money at any cost.
Well, blimey! It hasn't snowed decently here either. Nebraska's just cold and full of frost. Wednesday we got a horrible wind chill and according to weather.com it felt 1 below 0 in the F scale. They promised snow and I am yet to see some pile up... Just hope it snows the week of the 14th 'cause we're planing a snowboarding trip ^^

I know, and I tried but I couldn't find the setting. It's a brand-new camera and I haven't read the manual.
Well, I knew my luck couldn't hold out forever: After making it clear into December without much more than a hint of the white stuff, we just got motherf*cking buried today. I think it was something like 2 feet in 2 hours.
I am pissed off at Zeus right now.
We got sprinkled.
Yay! At last. 🙂
Yeah, we got less than a half hour's worth of snow yesterday. None of it even stuck to the grass. =(
We got a thin frosting Monday morning... It was gone by noon...
We have gotten two consecutive days of non-sticky snow. It would be fun to be snowed in.
No snow yet. Just lots an lots of rain, and a couple of trees still with blossom on.
If the last few years're anything to go by, we'll be virtually snowed in at Easter.
We got quite a bit. Probably haven't seen this much since '83.
Needless to say the kids had a blast.

Holy cow that laugh made me jump O_O
Rain and cold.
No snow.
You'd never think I live in the North, really.
