Some of you may remember last year around this time when yours truly was involved in a RSL radio station called Alive Radio. Well, we're BACK, baby! We've got another month-long RSL, and this year I've got a confirmed regular slot!
So, if you fancy hearing your main man SS talk on the radio, mosey on to www.aliveradio.net and click on the listen link. I'll be on Thursdays and Fridays from 4-6pm GMT. Be sure to check out the forums at some point too, as I intend to make use of them for certain aspects of what I'll be doing... ;)

Btw, that would be the equivalent of 11 AM - 1 PM ET (the rest can be figured from this post).

Oh and congratulations. 😀

Net radio isn't allowed at work anymore :(

Would have loved to have tuned in to the McKeen.

Just don't make any Ganon Bang! jokes ^_^

Heehee, Ganon Bang...

No worries there, I don't think sexual innuendo's allowed. ;) And that's annoying you can't tune in... I'll be sure to give you a mentrion though.

Here's hoping I get plenty of folks to tune in though!

~SilverShadow.

EDIT: Something I forgot to mention! If anyone has any requests/shout-outs/whatever they'd like (within reason!), please mail me at alive. Just use Bryan(at)aliveradio.net or SilverShadow(at)aliveradio.net and I'll do my best. Thanks!

OK folks, today is the day. My first broadcast this year goes out at 4pm GMT. I'll be discussing hot topics of the day, and hopefully should have a guest or two on the phone.

On today's show, I intend to be discussing Harry Potter and it's associated impact on young people and society in general, plus the views expressed by people on whether or not it's evil. I'm intending to make use of discussion I've seen on a few forums about this, plus I'd like folks to either e-mail their views or find some way of communicating their views to me before or during the show. As previously mentioned, I should have a guest on the phone today as well. This guest is actually reasonably well known around here - tis none other than our beloved Admin, Samanfur! So, if you fancy hearing her express some views, tune in.

From now on I'll make use of this thread on MF Central to provide updates of show details (ie topics to be discussed etc), so keep an eye on this one to find out the latest. Cheers!

*Clapclaps for both Bryan and Sarah*

Amazing little interview, I was rivetted throughout. You brought up a number of really good points, Sarah, and you both handled it really great 🙂

Stalled the beginning, tripped over my own tongue umpteen times, either rambled hopelessly, went off the point or missed out points that I could've added in - especially since I had some scrawled crib notes in front of me as I was talking...

And, of course, my accent's awful...

Fun, though. 🙂

*Lightly baps you* No focusing on the negative! ^_^

Glad you had fun. I really hope people were listening to that, if only to hear what you had to say about children being able to make their own minds up without being wrapped in cotton wool.

I enjoyed every second of it, and am very curious to hear you speak more about the history of child litriture, I mean I knew the basics (I informed Bryan about the fairy tale thing before he went on air, as I knew you'd mention it), but from listening to you, it's really really intriguing.

Now rush to your appointment, I shall glomp you and congratulate you later on 🙂

Oh, I know you did! Bryan 'phoned me up earlier to ask whether I'd mind touching on it, too, so I e-mailed him some thoughts to give him an idea. 🙂

And it's true as far as I'm concerned: there're far more nasty and threatening things to a worldview out there than an inanimate object like a book. If you don't let kids practice on the small stuff at their own level (plus when their minds're more flexible to new ideas), then they're going to get one heck of a reality bump sooner or later.

Now for that appointment. 🙂

This is true. I've never realy thought much about Child literature and where all it started.....Interesting to learn a bit about it. ^^

I'm so listening tomorrow ^^. Again, a large thanks for the many dedications. And the Sonic Adventure 2 music that played when you started.....classic, purely classic. I too noticed Sammys "Y'knows" but hey ^^ we all have our habits, right?

*sigh*

To be honest, that was me trying to keep my repetitive speech patterns toned down - I'm normally far worse and with far more phrases, as anyone who's spoken with me in person for a while can testify.

This is one of many, many reasons why I tend to prefer writing to actually talking to people. I got mercilessly picked on for it at sixth form - which only made it worse, of course.

That was incredibly nerve-wracking, but fun. You just have to bear in mind that I had barely any more idea of what Bryan was going to ask me on the subject than you did - for all I'd written myself a crib sheet of points to fit in, I was actually putting it all together on the fly.

'Course, my reason was because I was at school when the show came on, and I could've accessed it but the comps at the college don't have speakers or anythings.

Will the next show be on the same subject, or will it feature something else?

The next show (which airs in about 7 hours from the time of writing) will be on a different topic. This time round, it's what I'm terming as "garbage in, garbage out", or to put it another way, what effect does what we put into ourselves (ie, what we watch, what we read etc) have on what comes out (like habits, mannerisms, good/bad behaviour)? Hopefully I should be able to round up a guest or two for this 'un too (you can relax Sarah, I won't pick on you this time!).

On a slightly different note, I was able to locate the recordings of yesterday's show. With a bit of luck I should be able to upload them later today, and you can catch me talking with Sarah. Bear in mind the mp3 will be an hour long and somewhere in the region of 10MB, so it's not necessarily high quality and it's quite long.

Anyway, if you can tune in today, please do so! I always like to know folk are listening. ^^

~SilverShadow.

EDIT: Another show behind me. Man, this is fun...
