Here's a fun little idea. Remember and reminice about old times and tales of the Mobius Forum, wether it chat incidents from years back or classic threads that time forgot. Just remind us of your favourite or just laugh and remember other suggestions.

One rule: No suggesting your own threads. Ego has no place here.

-

I'll start by remembering Dub's interview with The Nemesis thread from a few years back, Boss Lady's comment about Halle Berry reminded me of it, where Dub was asking questions.

So, Mr. Nemesis, how did you get here today?
CAAAAAAAAAAAAARS!
Interesting, I can't help but notice your face is messed up, how did that happen?
SCAAAAARS!
How terrible. You were in Canada recently, did you catch that illness?
SAAAARS?
That's the one. Oh and our next guest will be Halle Berry, do you think she's the sexiest woman alive?
BY FAAAAAAAAR!

XD great skit.

I remember the good ol' fexusfan empire. *sigh* Those were the days. The pillow fight thread. And....

Oh, man, it's been so long. There's some happy memories back there somewhere, *taps back of scull* But I just can't remember it.

Spamming fangames into the chat like nobody's business, getting told fangames were illegal, getting banned from the chat for continuing the spam, crying my ass to Rico for some reason, and consequently getting grilled by everyone.

I somewhat remember the "in my pants" thread, where you had to end EVERY sentence with "in my pants"... Man, that was fun. Disregard the fact I was a lurker at the time and I only registered when the Unregistered User-block went up that Winter. Without particular mention as to why. And then I register, but it takes me a whole month to actually post on there because I'm so afraid I won't be terribly liked...

...and then I wind up being a mod there in the long run. Weird how that works out, huh?

Didn't MoKat also have some thread of her own or something? I haven't seen her in a while, although AFAIK she's still around on EliteBoard.

Speaking of which, I remember that I joined just about the time EliteBoard's first usable version sprung up. I wasted a lot of time on there... I doubt many people remember the Anti-Spam Men (robot masters who hate spam), but they were there in full-force, and we got to wipe 'em out in large battles that you KNOW wouldn't have worked in the RP Guild.

As I recall, being that it was Summer 2002 that I was lurking, the big topics at the time involved SA2, Mega Collection, Mario Sunshine, and what have you... The Sonic series hadn't begun its dive into awfulness, 4Kids hadn't touched ANYTHING Sonic-related, Sega of America at least looked like it was doing the right things, Advance was on the horizon (IIRC) and I eagerly awaited it (REALLY eagerly, much more eagerly than I've awaited any Sonic game since Sonic Heroes - which disappointed me, sadly), and when it came out, I wasn't let down (but I wasn't expecting much, like I have come to expect of late)...

Maybe this is more of a "nostalgia about 2002-2003" post, but dang, those times were arguably better than THESE times. Freakin' Research Practicum.

Oh my god, those AIM Chat days absolutely rocked, even with the random lamers and "The True Sonic" and "MattHannan" which turned out to be a girl and having to migrate to different rooms because of said lamers....

But all the random roleplays and conversations about nothing totally made up for it. 😀 I used to have a bunch of old logs, but they disappeared with the death of my computer.... I dunno. There's something really fun about having the insanity of the MoFo in real-time. I think that's why I like l337chat so much since it seems the AIM room is dead (and if we were to revive it, it would likely be just the same people as in the other chat)

I remember the In My Pants thread. XD

I also remember when the four largest topics were "Food Fight", "Pillow Fight", "Saria", and Cooki's Spam topic... I remember going back and forth with Weirdo, Sonikita, Wes, and one of Sonikita's friends whose name escapes me.... While those were fun, I'm really glad they've disappeared over time (or through the hack, in the case of Cooki's thread). I was such an obnoxious n00b....

I can't really say much for the majority of 2003-early 2004... I rarely checked the MoFo then.

Hmm.... this reply was a lot longer than I intended it to be.... Ah well. **post!**

One of my favorite memories was back when I made those skits of the Evil Admins. And yes, that was a long time ago.

I remember the 'Hoe-down' for my 3000th post...the 'Super Mario Bros. Super Show!' evil theme...the Fexusfan Empire...

Oh, and of course...PiE!

Ah, yes, the AIM Chat. Many a good times spent there. Come everybody, I am going to tell the story of the AIM Chat. Because I feel like it. Now sit.

Before the days of the EliteChat, even before the days of EzChat, there was... AimChat. The premise of AimChat was simple: to allow MoForumers of all kinds to converse with eachother directly, as opposed to waiting for replies to their topics. The idea was crazy, but it was crazy enough to work. And it did. For the most part.

The room was linked, and all came. There was random discussion, random roleplaying, and random rejoycing. Everything was happy and peaceful in the land of AimChat. But all that peace came at a price. And that price was named TheTrueSonic.

Now, TheTrueSonic was your average lamer. Being a complete nuisance was his specialty. And thus, many chat invasions began. He would invite random people from random places into our home. Many of them would say "What the * is this place?!" or "Where the * am I?!" and leave. Others would say "COME SEE MY FREE WEBCAM LOL IM HOT 4 U CLICK HERE!!" and stayed. They enjoyed saying that, obviously, as they would repeat it many many times. Many many many times. To get away from these annoying invasions, the link to the chat was removed, and the chat was renamed.

With the link removed from the forum, the chat wasn't directly linked to Sonic HQ in any way. No new people could find out about it without being told of it's existence. We had our regulars; Sakaki, Mogwaimon, Mechatails, CyKairus, Global Nexus, Srol, Compi, Cj, Terg, James Crownfur, Sage, Rapidfire, Wraith, etc. It was like our own little club. A club that somehow couldn't see that there wasn't a "P" in my username. A club that had a habit of calling me "Rapid." But, a club nonetheless.

Since the chat wasn't related to The Mobius Forum anymore, it didn't have to follow The Mobius Forum's rules. And that meant... freedom of speech. Yes, the English language could be mentioned and viewed in all its unedited glory. And oh how we exploited it. Well, it wasn't used every chance we got, but colorful language ran freely when necessary. It was like streaking. Except verbally.

But anyway, somehow, TheTrueSonic still managed to find where we are. Thus, as Sage said, the constant migrations. Enough was enough. It was time to switch chat programs all together. And that led to the creation of the mIRC chat, which was seen as vastly superior. And the AimChat was abandoned. But, as time passed, people started leaving the mIRC chat and returning to their natural home. The AimChat was alive once again.

But, soon enough, the EzChat was born, and it's all history from there. The AimChat is gone and, as far as I know, still dead to this day. But we still keep it close to our hearts. Many a friends made, many a jokes laughed at, many a lamers put on ignore. Congratulations, AimChat, you have served our time well. And that, my children, is the story and legend of... AimChat.

Hey, wake up! o.o

Here's something shocking....

Before we were on ezboard, we used discserver for the forum. But.. after discserver, we tried something BEFORE ezboard and that was everyone.net. That... is the only shred of evidence of the e.net mess. We were there for only like... a week or so officially. This dates back to the 2000 era.

Oh, hey, Tiberious. Assuming that's the same guy, I think he still posts at Espio's place - albeit very, VERY sparsely.

Oh dear god, you think YOU were a bad n00b? You were at least a calm n00b. XD;

**shakes head at her uberhyper "trying to be silly and funny and failing miserably" self**

I really wish I still had some chatlogs... But alas, mine are buried in the sands of time.... These were an amusing read though, thank you Lightdude! **hugs!**

RabidRodent2001 (7:31:23 PM): Hi guys! I finally have AIM! Woooohooo!!!!

Oh, hey, wow, my very first day in the chat! :D

*continues reading with excitement*

...

*stares with utter amazement and embarassment at the mass spammy n00biness to follow* :|

Wow. Just wow. I'm amazed you people actually had the patience to put up with me. If I had seen myself back then today, I probably would have put myself on ignore. I must have been the most annoying person ever that night.

RabidRodent2001 (12:07:28 AM): boy am i anoying!

I even said it myself. o_O

After going through that... painful mess... all the other chat logs featuring myself seem to depict me as being much less annoying. Going from n00b to just plain noob. Well, maybe some sort of hybrid combination of noob and newb. I guess it depended on how I felt that day. I was only 12 years old at the time, so immaturity flowed through me like... I dunno, some kind of blood cell... thing. Man, I was quite the livewire back then. o.O

But still, LOL @ rivalry with Cj and being Dragon Slave'd. Hilarious stuff. Thanks for the link there, Lighthead. This really made my night.

i lub u guyz. o.o

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Vortex's skits yet.

I think it's safe to say that Vortex is one of the best skit writers in the MoFo. He was the one that coined the famous phrase "Catch the quarter!" and of course the "Must... catch... quarter... can't... let... devil... in... old... man... form... win..." line. Exactly how many Golden Brain Awards does he have?

And who can forget that infamous editorial from the guy (I think it was MattHayter) who kept going on about how Sonic failing. It's a shame the majority of the posts in those threads were eaten when EzBarf went boom.

Can't forget about the themes either. The Mr. T theme was and will always be a classic, along with the supposed AOL/MoFo merger. Although, I'm still somewhat scarred from the mannequin theme.

It's amazing when you think about it. I've only been a member since '02, and I have more memories from this board than any other board I was a member at.

I pity the fool who don't Jibba Jabba!

Sadly, I don't have many memories because I only stayed in the South Island for my first 6 or 7 months of posting, and only started to come to the SPA at the start of the year.

EDIT: Yes, Vortex's skits, XD!

I remember Cj and Sam hijacked my newbie post to talk about Neverwinter Nights.

Or was it Baldur's Gate?

Maybe it was both.

Point is: 🙁

I remember this explicitly. In the middle of a huge Boxers/Brief wall of text, this happened:

Big: Briefs!
Someone: Boxers!
Big: Briefs!
Someone: Boxers!
Big: Briefs!
Someone: Boxers!
Big: Briefs!
Someone: Boxers!
Briefs: Briefs!
Someone: Boxers!
Big: Briefs!
Someone: Boxers!

Someone: Boxers!

Didn't catch it? Look again.

Big: Briefs!
Someone: Boxers!

Big: Briefs!
Someone: Boxers!
Big: Briefs!
Someone: Boxers!
Briefs: Briefs!
Someone: Boxers!

I loled.

We can't forget Jin's famous explanation of PiE. How long had we waited for it again? I forget.
