If you're like me, you're old enough to remember when Sci-fi Channel cancelled MST3k, and were beside yourself. You may have been even more heartbroken when they even stopped airing the re-runs. At any rate, it looks like MST3k may be kinda back in a sorta form of it's former self.
Mike Nelson, who was the lead homo sapien on MST3k for most of its run after Joel Hodgson left, has started up an online business called Riftrax, which lets you buy MP3 commentary for movies. Right now the selection is small, but as they are no longer on the sci-fi channel, they are no longer constrained to just bad B-movies (as fun as they were to make fun of). Now they can also make bad A-movies.
Some of the tracks are just Mike Nelson, while some have him being joined by Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett who played his robotic colleagues on the sattelite of love. I just learned about this tonight, but I plan on going down to blockbuster first thing after work and grabbing one of these movies so I can give this baby a spin. I'll let you know how it is, I just wanted to post this in case there were any other forlorn MST3k fans on the web. Tata.
Supreme w00t. The audio could be a bit better, but that Star Trek V sample was HILARIOUS. Maybe if it's a hit they can do some video host segments.
