In 1979, Congress passed the federal law commonly referred to as the "Wright Amendment", which restricts travel into and out of Dallas Love Field for commercial flights with more than 56 seats. This federal law makes it illegal to fly from Love Field to points beyond the four states surrounding Texas. The Wright Amendment also contains marketing restrictions, prohibiting Southwest Airlines from offering or advertising the availability of any connecting flights between Love Field and any city outside the Wright Amendment "service area." In 1997, Congress passed the Shelby Amendment, which added Alabama, Kansas, and Mississippi to the Wright Amendment service area.
The Wright Amendment is anti-competition and hurts consumers as well. Tell your congressmen and senators to repeal the Wright Amendment and bring affordable air travel not just to Dallas Love Field, but all over the country as well.

Something tells me that carriers would prefer to keep prices where they are, Wright Amendment or no. Just a hunch.
I dislike the Wright Amendment and I think that even though American Airlines continues to pressure the city of Dallas it will eventually be repealed.

Southwest Airlines prices are generally much lower than those of United or American Airlines. The added competition from Southwest (if they were able to fly out of DFW and not just Love Field) could really help make Dallas a cheaper place to make local flights from.
Nice to see some local news on the Mofo? I'm suprised you care about the Wright Amendment all the way up there in Oklahoma.
Considering I've bearly heard it mentioned, so am I. o.o

Wow, never heard of that before. It just makes no sense...
Since I live only 90 minutes from Dallas, and it's the closest major city to where I live, it does concern me.
You live a long way from OSU.
