That's right, the time has come when the best *cough* of European talent will sing their hearts out in a spectacular contest to decide who is the best, and so that nation will hold the next contest. The wonderful is the Eurovision Song Contest 2005. This year it will be in Kiev. As usual i will hopefully be able to miss this evilness by cutting myself (probably not). I was wondering if anyone else will consider watching this contest, and are your opinions about it.

Also if any one is interest it starts at 7PM BST (British summer time), and can be viewed/heard on the given link.

Enjoy!

*sits back and waits for the inevitable deluge of appropriately mystified non-Europeans*

No, the UK doesn't understand how it's survived for fifty years, either. :)

Mainly cos Dr Who is on before it and there's nothing better to watch...

But, I love the advert this year saying "This time it's serius," with Terry Wogan chuckling in the background and ranting about european pop domination.

Granny beat the Drummer...

Thankfully doesnt look like a winner at the moment, if it wins then I'll loose my faith in the rest of europe.

Besides that, Eurovisian is a nice quiet tepid reality break after an extremely brilliant Doctor Who episode in which Wartime london is plagued by people wearing gas masks, only intercut with a brief nap through the national lottery in between.

Not surprised, really. Javine's song was rubbish.

Javine did a good song, I enjoyed it and I'm not into that genre of music..

I dont think greece deserved to win, it was just, not shallow but, I cant describe it.
There was just nothign special in that Song.

Despite it's retro 1980's feel I was rooting for Norways rock song to win :^^

I didn't watch Eurovision, I instead went to watch Star Wars in the Cinema :p

I cant tell whether we deserved to win or not, simply because I am not into that kind of music - period.

Be that as it may, I found it kinda morroning to go out of the cinema (a few mintutes after we ad won it), and see ppl cheering up for winning it... OK, it's a win, hooray - but seriously - that was a lil' too much.

Imagine my surprise, as me and my 'warband' of 15 friends who came with me to watch the movie, went out and saw crouds of raving lunatics dancing and singing a song that I've ALREADY grown tired of hearing it ever since it was chosen to represent us.

Add to that the fact the Eurovision is generaly very popular here in Greece (According to the figures, 94% of the Greek population watched it on TV) and my patience was already strained as it is.

However I did not complain - I dont like to complain when other ppl have fun. I just found it.... ODD!!! :cuckoo

Swift: Ppl who like Eurovision music, like that kind of song. Furthermore, they liked Paparizou 'cause she's pretty and has nice legs. :p
