Just received word from the mother on the phone...
For the last few years, or so, she's been a cancer patient. She's been going preeeettty damned well so far, and we figured she might have this thing licked.
Apparently, we just weren't right...
All I have is phoned-in details from her, so I can't say for certain what's going on, but it seems like things are now turning the wrong direction, and the tumours are starting to play havoc with her general Bowels and Digestive system.
From what I was told, her Macmillan Nurses were not entirely sure just what to expect from all of this, but it looks like there may actually be a definitive timeframe to be aware of in the coming months.
As always, my brother is on hand to help her out, given that I'm not in their general location - which continues to make things even less easy to attend to.
Since the Big C was what got t'my dad in 98, it's deja-vu all over again...so yeah, it's not fun.
As usual, I'll put something in the way of news up when and if I get it.
Hopefully, though, things will improve. S'all there is to say, I guess...

My grandmother (mother's side) had cancer. My stepmother's sister has cancer. Very painful diseases.
Hope it manages to turn around for her.
I have a friend whose aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, and was given only months to live. Recently he got the news she was all clear, and she's on the road to recovery. Don't give up hope, mate, miracles do happen.
my grandpa died of cancer last year, it'd spread all over his body and he was too old for any proper treatment.
good luck, and yeah, miricles can happen. *hugs and gives you a cookie*
